‘Only when one cannot sleep does one know how long the night is’
Tired of not sleeping?
Anyone who’s ever experienced an occasional bout of insomnia can relate to this. Daily stress and pressures, body aches and pains, uncomfortable beds or pillows, and a host of other issues can keep us from getting enough quality sleep. Sleep is ESSENTIAL to good health. It is one of the most important functions of the brain. Through it, our bodies rest, recharge and regenerate for the next day’s challenges. Here are some helpful tips for a better night’s sleep: • Exercise daily. • Limit sugar, caffeine and alcohol especially in the evening. • Reduce screen time, at least one hour before bed. • Go to bed and wake up every morning at the same time. • Keep your bedroom cool, dark and a comfortable temperature.

• Invest in a mattress that provides support for your spine. • Purchase a contoured pillow - this provides support for your neck curve and a chance for your muscle to really relax. • Use a form of Magnesium to help with muscle aches and pains. • Rub lavender oil onto the soles of your feet at night. The nervous system plays a vital role in all bodily functions. Having an overactive nervous system can have an impact on ability to sleep, duration of sleep, energy levels, concentration, alertness and co-ordination. Here at Ferny Chiropractic our practitioners aim to improve the function of the nervous system, and in doing so give the body a chance to rest, recharge and regenerate. MEN IN PILATES
While women tend to dominate PILATES classes, Pilates holds many benefits for men who rise to the challenge- yes, it’s hard! Pilates can help fine-tune your performance.
Pilates for men is increasingly becoming a choice of exercise for many, with benefits including improved posture, core strength, muscle tone and flexibility to build stronger bodies... it’s time to put down the dumbbell. Men are missing out on a number of benefits that perfectly complement weight training. Pilates was created by a man Joseph Pilates, who came from a background of boxing, self defence and wrestling - nothing soft about that. While Pilates classes still remain female - dominated, Pilates Studio 64 has a large male clientele with Male instructors. Shayne Smith, is Pilates Studio 64 head trainer and loves to see more men doing Pilates. Shayne comes from a martial arts background, ex-tradesman himself and swears that Pilates has changed his life with quality movement and education of the human body. Pilates Studio 64 offers pilates matwork classes, studio pilates equipment classes in small groups of four with qualified BASI pilates instructors. Shayne and the PS64 teaching team welcome all walks of life to their studio and encourage anyone looking to commence Pilates to feel welcome to join at any age and any level. For more details on classes and times, call or email and speak to one of our friendly staff to organise your first appointment. www.ps64.com.au.
