Dive Into Summer!

Swimmers from 4 to 40 years old dived into a new swimming season at Ferny Hills Swimming Club’s annual sign on day which was held on Saturday 2nd September.

‘Ferny is a small and friendly swimming club. We welcome all swimmers, whether they want to put their swimming lessons into practice or take their racing to the next level at competitive meets’ said Club President, Dean Bolton. The club hosts weekly club nights on Friday evenings at Ferny Hills Pool. Swimmers start at races over 12.5m in length, with in-water assistance available if needed, and progress through to longer distance events. ‘Our club nights are very family-oriented. This year we’re introducing an exhibition or novelty race to kick off the evening. It’s all about seeing our junior and senior swimmers swimming together, enjoying an active healthy life style, having fun and watching their swimming improve,’ said Mr Bolton. This season is set to be an exciting one at Ferny. The club finished 19th at the recent Australian National Championships, ahead of many much larger clubs, and their first international touring team of seven swimmers is about to leave for New Zealand. Ferny will also be represented at the Down Syndrome National titles by Australian Down Syndrome Representative Harry Cahill and at the Australian Short Course Championships in Adelaide in October by Nicole Fielden and Chloe Crust. The club has also won a large grant from the Queensland Gambling Community Benefit Fund, which will see new, competition grade starting blocks installed at the Ferny Hills Swimming Pool. If you missed the sign on day and would like to join the club or make an enquiry, pop over to the club‘s website www.fhdsc.org Or visit their Facebook Page www.facebook.com/FHDSC

Book Week Treat For Kindy Kids

As part of this year’s Book Week activities students at Prince of Peace Lutheran School’s K i n d e rg a r t e n w e r e given an extra treat: a visit by the Queensland Ballet. But this was no ordinary visit; it was also a workshop for the Kindy students. Miss Claire began the session by telling the children the story of ‘Joey counts to ten’ after which the children, most of whom were attired in various themed costumes from their favourite books, acted out the story. While doing this they were also taught how to Plié, Demi pointe while maintaining various poses and feet positions. This proved to be a great example of how to use a Children’s book to teach physical and artistic skills. Kindy Director Lyn Jackson said the visit had been a great success. ‘Miss Claire delivered an excellent Kindy age session teaching children the basic ballet movements in a fun interactive way. Hats off to the Queensland Ballet for this innovative program.’ All in all it has certainly been a Book Week to remember for these Kindy kids.

25 years of Inspirational Teaching

The Mitchelton Pre-Schooling Centre’s (MPC) Director Leanne Hunter is celebrating 25 years of service at the kindergarten provider.

A milestone not often achieved, Leanne started in 1983. In 2000 Leanne took on the additional role of Co-Director which continued through to 2013. From that time through to today, Leanne has conducted the role of Director of MPC with all the commitment and passion a great leader can inject. In preparing for the surprise presentation to Leanne, staff at MPC were asked to describe her. Responses included: inspirational teacher; highly committed and dedicated to young children and their early childhood education experience; loves children taking risks; and she loves seeing children thrive in an environment that is not sterile. Leanne is a co-author with Lisa Sonter and together they have published two books, ‘Play in Progress’ and ‘Progressing Play’ and they have an educational consultancy business. Leanne is a sort after presenter and speaker at local, interstate and overseas workshops and conferences and is very well respected in the early childhood education sector. Mitchelton Garden Club On Thursday 5th October, a representative from Rocky Point Mulching, will be the guest speaker at the Mitchelton and Districts Garden Club meeting at the Enoggera Memorial Hall, corner of Wardell and Trundle Streets, Enoggera. Rocky Point Mulching and Growing Media Products is the speaker’s topic. The vision of Rocky Point Mulching is to create a healthy way of life, and the company is passionate about partnering gardeners with quality products to grow fresh healthy food and to beautify this world for generations to come. Their products include all types of mulches, potting mix, growing media, sand, animal bedding and terra firma fertilizers, etc.

September is a busy month for gardeners. Chrysanthemums need lifting and dividing; Hibiscus, poinsettias and other shrubs that have finished flowering, need pruning; Lawns need attention and gardens need applications of fertilizers and mulch. Always apply fertilizers to moist soil and water in well. Marigold, Phlox and Petunia seedlings planted this month will be in bloom for Christmas. Spring annuals should be coming into bloom now and if you want to prolong the life of these plants, remove the spent flowers. When this is done the plant puts its energy into making more blooms and not seeds. Many orchids flower at this time of the year, so enquire about local shows where you could go to appreciate their beauty. The Mitchelton and Districts Garden Club meets on the first Thursday of the calendar month. Visitors and new members are most welcome. Meetings commence after Courtesy Vehicle Available! morning tea which is served at 9.45 a.m. The hall is accessible by wheel chair and close to public transport. For more information, please phone Pat, the president, on 3356 1256.

HOW DOES CARBON BUILD UP IN THE DIESEL INTAKE SYSTEM? Diesel engines rely on drawing in large quantities of air to operate efficiently, over time carbon deposits build up on the inner walls of the induction system due to emission control devices such as exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valves and the use of low viscosity engine oils. Over time your engine will progessively become contaminated with carbon, restricting air flow into the engine & negatively affecting the performance of your Diesel engine.

New local music group for children

A new mainly music group for families with babies and pre-schoolers has started up in the Hills District.

Did you know that music enhances the educational capabilities and development skills of babies and children? In addition, music enhances all areas of a child’s development. It provides school readiness skills – like literacy and numeracy. It enhances social skills – especially when children need to negotiate the sharing of toys and play space. It helps the body and mind work together – like when a child is marching. But not only that. The mainly music sessions are fun. They bring together families in the same season of life and provide thirty minutes of music, enjoyed by grownup and child alike. There are scarves and puppets, simple percussion instruments and Lycra panels, hats and pictures. There is jumping and tapping, hopping and rolling, dancing and clapping. ‘Eat/play/chat’ is what follows the music. Sessions are held at 9:30 am Friday mornings during school term. Keperra Baptist Church hall, 980 Samford Rd, Keperra. $4/family per session. Feel free to ring the church office on 3355 7639 for further information.

Bunyaville facilities

We are very fortunate in our electorate to have Bunyaville Conservation Park right on our doorstep. With several different bush tracks, picnic tables, barbecues, drinking water and toilets, it’s a fantastic location for a family day out or to escape the city buzz. I’m also currently working to have better barbecues installed for people to enjoy. There are several community groups that operate within Bunyaville, including Friends of Bunyaville, Enoggeroos and Bunyaville Trail Runners and Bunya Belles. Every Saturday morning enthusiastic runners set off from James Drysdale Reserve for the Bunyaville Parkrun. Everyone is welcome! I had a BBQ the other week for these dedicated runners and am working with these groups to ensure each event has defibrillators. It really is a fantastic location and we are lucky to have such a gem in our electorate, as well as so many local groups providing opportunities for us to enjoy it.

H a p p y 4 0 th b i r t h d a y Bunyaville Environmental Education Centre!

I recently had the honour of attending the Bunyaville Environmental Education Centre’s 40th birthday celebration. Over the past 40 years, the Centre has helped educate hundreds of thousands of students by giving them the opportunity to engage with the natural world in real life, hands on learning. To mark this occasion, the Centre built a yarning circle and had a great cake! It was great to be able to acknowledge the Centre’s contribution to the Everton community and help celebrate such a momentous milestone.

Cash for Containers

Studies show that Queensland has the worst litter in Australia – I am proud that the LNP if elected will introduce a Cash for Containers scheme, to encourage individuals to return their used cans and bottles. This scheme has worked effectively around Australia, and will clean up and better protect the beautiful environment we have in Queensland and the Everton electorate. Upper Kedron Community Planting

I would like to thank everyone who came to plant trees in Upper Kedron on Saturday 2nd September. It was fantastic to join you on this occasion, over 300 new trees have now been planted into the Upper Kedron Area. Community street tree planting events not only beautify the neighbourhood but also make our streets cooler, shadier, greener and carbonfriendly. Trees also provide habitat for our unique animals and insects. These trees will be established using potable water and maintained by Council.

Upper Kedron Recreation Reserve

Over the past two years I have been scoping the Ferny Grove, Keperra and Upper Kedron area to prioritise work in future budgets. A request was made to install a shelter with seating by residents who use the Upper Kedron Recreational Reserve to exercise their dogs. I am very pleased to confirm that this shelter and bench seating will be installed in the near future.

Ferny Grove Sports Ground – New Cricket Nets

The installation of the new cricket nets has been completed for the cricket season at Ferny Grove Sports Ground. $81,000 was allocated from The Gap Footpath and Parks Trust Fund for this project. Their installation ensures the Club’s training and preparation for the season ahead!

Upper Kedron Recreation Reserve Closed Landfill Management Works

Council is currently undertaking closed landfill management works within the Upper Kedron Recreation Reserve as part of management measures. As part of this work a cut-off wall

Ferny Grove community groups share in over $100,000

Round 93 of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund has been announced with Ferny Grove Electorate groups awarded a total of $109,494 in one-off funding. Volunteer groups are the backbone of our community and the benefits of these grants to local organisations are invaluable. The Round 93 recipients were Burn Arts, the TPI, which directly supports incapacitated service personnel, the Ninth Battalions Association and the Brisbane Tramway Museum who were awarded the maximum $35,000 to fund the replacement of high voltage components essential to the operation of the Museum. The Fund provides one-off grants of up to $35,000 for projects which would otherwise be very difficult for some groups to finance. The Fund opens four times per year with round 95 to open in November. For more information on applying for one of the grants please go to www.gamblingcommunityfund. qld.gov.au or contact my office at ferny.grove@parliament. qld.gov.au.

Nick Elston

For Ferny Grove I’ve been a Mitchelton resident for a number of years now, and I drive on our local roads almost every day. I believe the congestion on our streets is getting worse. I now leave for work earlier and get home later, and this means I spend less time with my family - I know it means you do too! I believe there has been too much development before adequate infrastructure improvement. I support a sustainable level of housing development which will offer more opportunities for young families to own a home. Commercial projects like the Bunnings development at Keperra and the $50m Brookside Redevelopment will bring greater opportunities to live, work and shop within our community, but road and transport infrastructure needs to be in place to support these developments or our quality of life will suffer. More people are coming, more cars are coming, but the roads and public transport improvements are not! The current Member for Ferny Grove is nowhere on major road upgrades, nowhere on public transport and nowhere to be seen in the community. We must change this backward approach to planning and stop the billions being cut from infrastructure. To make this change we need to change the Government. As a former Officer in the Australian Army, I served much of my eleven years as a Transport and Logistics Planner. I was deployed on overseas operations three times and served on three disaster recovery operations in Queensland. My expertise is in strategic planning. For over 200 days now, I have been door-knocking the Ferny Grove Electorate. People have also been responding to my online survey and contacting me directly with their suggestions for how we can fix traffic congestion. I believe we can build better transport infrastructure for the Ferny Grove Electorate: 1. A better designed Transit Orientated Development at Ferny Grove Station 2. A ‘Hub and Spoke’ style public transport system to 0.5 3. A new on-demand shuttle bus network to improve access to public transport 4. Integrating Bike Paths across new and existing developments to connect with public transport 5. New End-of-Ride facilities at key train stations We need smarter roads not bigger roads. We need more effective and accessible public transport to get vehicles off our roads. We need more Green transport interconnectivity between our suburbs. www.hillsecho.com

I am committed to building the transport infrastructure we need to get Ferny Grove moving again! That’s why I’m asking you to vote for me at the upcoming State Election, because I will make reducing traffic congestion and fixing failing public transport a top priority.

DICKSON SENIORS EXPO

Seniors from the Hills district were among the more than 2000 people who visited the Dickson Seniors Expo in recent days. The two day Expo at the Strathpine Community Centre brought together more than 60 organisations, companies and government agencies to provide useful and important information to our local retirees or those close to retirement. I hope all who attended found it helpful and enjoyed their time there. If you weren’t able to make it along – take a look at the video on my Facebook page or website at – www.peterdutton. com.au

CARERS FOUNDATION

Around three million Australians provide care to someone else. A quarter of a million carers are young people – aged between 13 and 25. Those permanently caring for someone else can often be overwhelmed by the task with impacts on their own health and wellbeing. They are often overlooked and undervalued. They need care themselves and hidden away in our part of the world in the peaceful surrounds of Cedar Creek is an organisation that does just that – the Carers Foundation Australia. It provides ‘time-out’ for carers where they receive support, counselling, wellness guidance and the chance to meet and share experiences with others dealing with similar difficulties and issues.

Before the last election I committed to pursue grant funding for the Carers Foundation so that they could expand their programmes for carers. Earlier this year a grant of $400,000 was made and in a few short months 30 carers were provided respite at Cedar Creek carers centre. This year the Foundation hopes to help 200 to 250 carers through the grant funding. If you’d like to see more – watch the video on my Facebook page or website - www.peterdutton.com.au To find out more about the Carers Foundation Australia or to register visit - www.thecarersfoundation.org/

ONE YEAR ON

With all the ‘noise’ there is in politics at the moment around same-sex marriage, citizenship and the constitution; it’s easy to overlook what’s actually gotten done. With the last election more than a year ago I think if we look back a fair assessment would be that the Turnbull Government has delivered considerable benefits for our country. More than 230,000 new jobs have been created in that year. We’ve provided three million small businesses with tax cuts including – 13,000 in Dickson – to help them grow and reinvest. We’re working to guarantee affordable and reliable energy and provided people on government support programmes (20,000 in Dickson) with an Energy Assistance payment of up to $125 to help pay power bills. Electricity retailers will make two million households aware of cheaper power deals. There’s record investment in infrastructure projects to grow the economy including works on the Bruce Highway in our region, record funding for our schools and the National Disability Insurance Scheme will now be fully funded. A dedicated fund to guarantee Medicare for future generations has been established while funding for Medicare, hospitals and life-saving medicines has increased substantially. These are just some of the achievements since the last election.

Brisbane Paralympic Football

I recently spent a Sunday afternoon with an amazing group of people at the Brisbane Paralympic Football Program (BPFP). Started more than 10 years ago by Head Coach, and all-round legend Jay Larkins, the programme now has close to 100 athletes of varying ages and abilities. They are proud to have several of their seniors playing at a representative level. These players are within the ‘Paralympic’ & ‘Special Olympic’ systems. BPFP was originally set up for children with cerebral palsy, but now welcomes children with any disability and of any ability. They have also established a ‘Mini’ squad for children as young

PRINTER

I was delighted to host some of our most recent Local Sporting Champions for a congratulatory afternoon tea. These remarkable young athletes are striving to achieve their sporting dreams and I am proud the Federal Government is able to support them through the Local Sporting Champions Grants program. The program is an Australian Government initiative designed to provide financial assistance for young people aged 12-18 towards the cost of travel, accommodation, uniforms or equipment when competing, coaching or officiating at state or national sporting championships. Grants of $500 are available for successful individual applicants. Successful athletes in this round included triathletes, water polo players, cyclists, and even a rock climber! These students are competing at very high levels while maintaining their studies and social life and are to be commended for this level of commitment. New Tax Rules for Properties $750,000+

Diversity key to growth

The new rules mean that Australian resident sellers who are selling property with a market value of $750,000 or above will need to apply for a clearance certificate from the ATO to ensure that their sale proceeds are not withheld, this can take up to 30 days.

On August 28th The Courier Mail states that Brisbane is powering into becoming one of the globe’s great cities, fuelled by a booming population and an unmatched “21st century lifestyle”.

For any sale contract entered into on or after 1 July 2017 where the purchase price is $750,000 or greater and there is no clearance certificate the purchaser has a statutory obligation to withhold 12.5% of the purchase price at settlement from the seller and pay that amount to the ATO. Following settlement, the seller applies for a tax credit in relation to the amount withheld by the ATO for the capital gains liability arising from the transaction.

An extra 280,000 homes will need to be built in greater Brisbane by 2031 to cope with a whopping additional 662,000 people resulting in a 52% jump in those aged above 65. Meanwhile our roads will need to cope with another half a million vehicles.

PwC data showed a mortgage on a median-priced home in greater Brisbane was 3.7 times the average household income— compared to eight to nine times in Sydney and Melbourne.

Aged Care Minefield What are Refundable Accommodation Deposits (RADS)? What is an RAC? Or ICAT? Or a DCF? Very few people understand how complicated the process of getting suitable age care can be and what costs are involved. Did you know? - Daily Care Fees (DCF) are $49.07 per day? - What other costs are involved? - How about the family home?

Daryl Passmore states that Brisbane has one crucial advantage over the southern states— affordability and congestion.

Making our relatively low house prices a powerful weapon luring new residents to move here from interstate and overseas and boost the economy. It is expected that family households will grow quicker than the rest of Australia, allowing Brisbane to position itself as the most “familyfriendly” capital. couriermail.com.au

Counsellor’s Column with Robin Botic

We create our own reality

Robin Botic

‘We create our own reality.’ How do we do this? And how does this apply to the most fundamentally important experience in our lives: our relationships? What we choose to think, feel and then act out from that thought, determines the reality we experience. That sounds easy enough. However, when you understand that for the majority of the time we are deeply unconscious about why we are thinking, feeling and acting the way we are, then we can see that this is really not so simple. It is in the realm of these unconscious reactive behaviour patterns that relationships really become unstuck. The difficulties around difference that relationships experience, are our growth challenges. Unfortunately, we often don't see or use them this way, and the reality we experience is painful and confusing. The trick to turning a negative interaction into a more positive one is to get past the content (that's anything you're arguing about) and decode each step of the interaction by asking the question: ‘Why do I think, feel and then act the way I do when I think or feel you are behaving in that way?’ This step immediately makes us become more present and conscious as to what is happening. Remember: Everything the other person feels you are doing is interpreted through their set of filters, which is determined by all their conditioning from their life experiences and the degree of consciousness that

they bring to bear at that moment. This is also true for you. The degree of reactivity and emotionality we exhibit in any situation is in direct proportion to the degree of unconscious threat/fear that we experience. Our fear of not being loved, being rejected, and of the lack of safety we experience because of this, is at the heart of most relationship discord. And guess what? This all operates in the energetic field. We react, not so much to what is said, but to what we feel is coming at us from the other person. If we feel we are under attack we usually defend with attack. We stop listening. We stop trying to understand, we go into protection mode, and the interaction spins further out of control. At this point it makes equitable resolution impossible. In relationships these are the things we have to deal with differently if we want change. In the next article I will break down a commonly experienced problematic interaction to show how this works.

‘Only when one cannot sleep does one know how long the night is’

Tired of not sleeping?

Anyone who’s ever experienced an occasional bout of insomnia can relate to this. Daily stress and pressures, body aches and pains, uncomfortable beds or pillows, and a host of other issues can keep us from getting enough quality sleep. Sleep is ESSENTIAL to good health. It is one of the most important functions of the brain. Through it, our bodies rest, recharge and regenerate for the next day’s challenges. Here are some helpful tips for a better night’s sleep: • Exercise daily. • Limit sugar, caffeine and alcohol especially in the evening. • Reduce screen time, at least one hour before bed. • Go to bed and wake up every morning at the same time. • Keep your bedroom cool, dark and a comfortable temperature.

• Invest in a mattress that provides support for your spine. • Purchase a contoured pillow - this provides support for your neck curve and a chance for your muscle to really relax. • Use a form of Magnesium to help with muscle aches and pains. • Rub lavender oil onto the soles of your feet at night. The nervous system plays a vital role in all bodily functions. Having an overactive nervous system can have an impact on ability to sleep, duration of sleep, energy levels, concentration, alertness and co-ordination. Here at Ferny Chiropractic our practitioners aim to improve the function of the nervous system, and in doing so give the body a chance to rest, recharge and regenerate. Our gym. Our family. Our story. “Our story starts here, at Ritual HQ, together as a family. We’re juggling a lot of commitments to make sure we’re accountable to this lifestyle – footy training, dance classes, work, you name it! But for us exercise is not an option, it’s a priority. We’re all motivated by different reasons, my husband Jay wants to make the most of every moment, my kids Ethan and Aliyah are all about having fun and making people laugh, and I want to have a positive influence on those around me. We enjoy exercising together because we feel part of a community that is the Ritual HQ family, a sense of belonging that we all share with people we can count on. It’s not just a great gym, but also great staff and great people. There’s a place for everyone, and everyone is welcomed and valued. We try not to take life too seriously, and that’s what I love about our story.”

IS STRESS WIPING YOU OUT?

Did you know that a little stress is healthy? It challenges you and makes you stronger. But stresses are not always easy to resolve and your stress response may be constantly activated. Stress without adequate recovery may substantially affect your energy levels leaving you tired and fatigued. The average adult juggles a multitude of commitments and the list continues to grow, leaving little time for relaxation. Your brain is the first organ that senses stress. It responds by sending messages to your adrenal glands that then release Cortisol to help you deal with stress. With long term stress, the brain may try to self-regulate itself by toning down these signals as a form of protection. This leads to low energy and can often wipe you out. Local Acupuncturist and Naturopath, Patricia McNab, is well aware of how stress affects our body. Over the last 30 years, Patricia has helped many people who find life gets too tough. She can personalise treatments including herbal, nutritional, lifestyle and acupuncture to help your body find more energy to get you back to your old self. Patricia practices at Ferny Chiropractic, Ferny Hills (Ph 3351 0933) and at North Brisbane Chiropractic, Everton Park (Ph. 3354 3111).If stress is wiping you out – make an appointment with Patricia today – she will be able to help you find the real you – again!!!!!

Zumba For Everyone!

During winter, we can often lose our motivation to maintain our regular workout routine. With summer just around the corner, it’s time to come out of hibernation and get back on track.

Did you know there is an awesome workout regime that offers you the opportunity to dance to great music, meet local people and burn plenty of calories without even realising it? Zumba offers all this and more. Zumba Fitness takes the ‘work’ out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval style, calorie burning dance fitness party. For a lower impact option, why not try Zumba Gold, perfect for beginners and active older adults. Not forgetting the younger Zumba fans, Zumba Kids is ideal for primary school aged children. Once the Latin and world rhythms take over, you’ll see why Zumba classes are often called exercise in disguise; they are effective and fun. The benefit is a total workout combining all elements of fitness - cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, and boosted energy. Classes are for everybody and every body. They can be geared for just about any fitness level. There are no wrong moves - as long as you're moving and keeping your heart rate up, you’re doing it right! Zumba with Narelle offers weekly classes in Grovely, Mitchelton and Taigum. Phone Narelle on 0408 716 503 or visit www. narellemcdowall.zumba.com www.hillsecho.com

I haven’t felt this good for 10 years!

Recently I had a lady come into my clinic who said to me in these exact words: ‘I haven‘t felt this good for 10 years!’ At first I was gobsmacked and thought how sad considering what she had missed out on due to exhaustion and overwhelming stress. Originally when she came to Banksia she was extremely stressed and busy meeting deadlines, making her uptight plus she was caring for a very sick husband. She was at breaking point, emotionally and physically. Juggling life and just overwhelmed trying to get everything done. Luckily this lady saw me speak at a function on How much does your health cost you, your family, and your work. It was this presentation that she knew applied to her to do something for herself or otherwise the cost of falling apart would be catastrophic especially if it affected her job. As she was the main bread winner it was time to do something right now. On her first visit to me she found the acupuncture and massage treatments so relaxing. Along with the positive natural drug free way to become calmer. One day she commented that a co-worker had said to her ‘you don’t have any deadlines at the moment do you?’ thinking she would say ‘no’, my client actually said ‘yes’. Her work colleague was amazed because usually Mrs E P was stressed and worried about getting her work completed on time. As my client has continued her treatments she noticed she Are you concerned that Depression, Anxiety, was singing on her drive to work and realised she had never Self Esteem, Relationship or Personal Issues are stopping felt so good. I am so pleased for her, knowing how wonderful you from being the person you want to be? she feels today. Being at her best reflects on all aspects of Are you concerned that your child lacks Social Skills and may be her life today. suffering from ADHD, Autism or Asperger Syndrome? Comment from my client after reading the above review. Let us assist you or your child in taking a step forward..... This represents me very well. It is also quite strange to read this from another person’s perspective. I also feel sorry for Lindsay Trims Michelle Carroll-Walden that person who walked in your door last September. Box Your Way to Fitness To get fit and to reduce unwanted weight gain, the best teacher is someone who has ‘been there, done that.’ Nadine found herself seeking a fitness pathway after the arrival of her two children and with weight gain that she wanted to shed. Yoga For Kids & Teens

Have you ever thought about the impacts of our technological world on our Children?

The instant results at the click of a button,we have even done away with ‘the button’ to create more speed! Faster and faster responses from our screens. The internet and the constant over stimulation of computers with six different pages open at once. Our Teenagers holding text conversations with multiple people, all talking about different topics, but unable to communicate face to face or stay focused on one task. Just walking down the street we are bombarded with each shop having a neon sign. Our schools even have advertising signs now. So much over stimulation for our senses. We believe it’s time to teach our kids and teens how to STOP ‘Breath and Reflect’ and have a sense of Satisfaction and accomplishment, before rushing off to achieve and do more. This coming term Yoga Sol will have Children's Yoga classes ranging from 4-7 (Little Yogis), 8-10 (Young Yogis) and for Teens and inbetweens starting from 11 years. Through movement,Yoga Games and mindfulness we will be helping our Little Yogis understand their emotions Our young Yogis feel comfortable in the world around them and develop an understanding of self. For our Teens we will explore how to deal with over powering emotions, Challenging relationships and building skills to manage Teenage stress. Investing into our children's emotional future is encouraging strong grounded Adults of tomorrow. www.hillsecho.com

Your Local Denture Professional at Arana Hills

Dentures are false teeth made to replace teeth you have lost. Dentures can be complete or partial. Complete dentures cover your entire upper or lower jaw. Partials replace one or a few teeth.

Advances in dentistry have made many improvements in dentures. They are more natural looking and comfortable than they used to be (Premium Dentures are available). But, they still may feel strange at first. In the beginning, denture provider like Denture Square team may want to see you often to make sure the dentures fit. Over time, your mouth will change and your dentures may need to be adjusted or replaced. Be sure to let Denture Square team handle these adjustments. Speaking and eating may feel different with dentures. Be careful when wearing dentures because they may make it harder for you to feel hot foods and liquids. Also, you may not notice biting on a bone from your food. Dentures can help to prevent problems with eating and speech and, if you need complete dentures, they can also improve the appearance of your smile and give you confidence. Get started by contacting the team for a Denture consultation at Denture Square Arana Hills today. Call 07 3189 7085 or visit their website www. denturesquare.com for more information. Being strong women is so important at every age and not just for a season.

soukya.com.au In our club we have recent testimonies of how strong bones and muscles have supported our members through knee, hip and ankle surgeries. I’ve also had knee surgery in the last month following a running injury. Strong, healthy muscles, bones and tissue meant a knee replacement was averted and instead I’ve had a partial knee reconstruction. Jeanette, Sue, Fran and Annette have all returned to the club three months after double knee replacements. Others have also returned more quickly than originally expected to show off post-surgery. At Curves Mitchelton, our members receive coaching and support with every workout, making their strength training a planned and positive addition to rehabilitation. We work in conjunction with medical teams to support our members re-build their strength and enjoy new freedoms. Balance and confidence are important parts of a Curves workout. Every member benefits, whether she is stretching tight leg muscles from wearing killer heels, building strength for a challenging Fun Run or just safely negotiating life.
