Khadi- The Fabric That Originated From The Roots Of India


Khadi is a fabric from India’s golden past. It is one of the original fabrics of India where cotton was woven into yarn by a hand spun wheel and then fabric was woven. Mahatma Gandhi promoted the khadi culture back in India when the British were trying to get nylon and polyester from the west.


How is it unique • Cotton is woven into yarn by a hand spun wheel • Its texture remains unique due to it being hand woven and cannot be copied by any fabric as such • Because of so many innovations with technology it is in vogue all over the world and used by many designers. • It gives jobs to countless workers • In most cases it is very close to being the perfect example of organic clothing since showcases similar such features. • It is also used to make jeans where deconstruction and reconstruction in the fabric can be done easily.


All of this increases the demand of the fabric and with innovation and research its popularity and demand will go on increasing in the coming years. Organic clothing like khadi must be adopted in this century for all the ones that have focused on making polyester their most dominant fabric worn in their life.
