Hello, my name is Katie and I am a recent Graduate from the New York School Of Interior Design. Growing up In a small town in New Jersey, hiking, camping, and snowboarding were some of the ways I liked to enjoy the outdoors in my area. Experiencing nature inspired me to creative endeavors like photography and painting. During my school years I loved to take all the various art & design related electives. It was through these classes where I learned ways to make my passion into a carreer. Traveling to New York City to study Interior Design has broadly enhanced my design sensibility and ability to find beauty in all types of cultural designs. Aesthetically, the ability to be eclective and mix my knowledge of styles is what excites me about Interior Design. Physically, its knowing how important our skill is to creating functional, well -circulating spaces for the sucess of the client, or for anyone to efficiently navigate their daily lives.

01 WE WOOD A retail experience store

WeWood is a trendy brand of 100%%wooden watches that plants a tree for every watch purchased. The challenge was to create a space that not only highlights the product in a creative way to sell merchandise,,but celebrates the philanthropic nature of the client by integrating the companies mission and brand into a unique customer experience..My views on a solution is to seprate the watches by type of wood and creating astract tree forms made out remnant pieces,,which tells a story of each type of wood and romanticizes the product..The companys devotion to sustainable awareness inspired me to include multiple interactions that educate and raise awareness of deforestation from beginning to end, acting as the overall customer brand experience..

02 THE DAILY STRIVE An Online Media Co-working office

In this project,we were asked to design a co-working office space in New York City..The Daily Strive is the name of this collective office of individuals striving for success in Online Media,, the field I was given to design for..Having a broad community of working people publishing a variety of topics allows for a wider range of shared experiences and perspectives, while sharing a love for online communication. The design problem is to figure out how to design a space that fosters creativity and collaboration with a concept that appeals to all yet allows each individual company to express their own brands.. Solutions include utilizing an activity-based workplace,as well as using graphics as wayfinding and a way for companies to showcase their brand..I was inspired by the idea of being in a virtual magazine and the idea of transforming 2d graphics into three-dimensional working environments.

03 MOROCCAN OASIS A Moroccan inspired residence

A 6,200 square foot suburban home with a design.inspired by a country of our choice was the project given to me in Residential Design II. The clients are a family-oriented Moroccan-American family of 5. They enjoy traveling to visit family and to experience and enjoy other cultures. They have always admired their eastern cultures design style and wanted their new home to celebrate their Moroccan heritage. The new home pro. vides great spaces to spend time with family and a guest room for when family visit. The home incorporates bold Moroccan architectural elements and colors inspired by Moroc. co. Keeping everything else clean and simple, spaces feel calm, fresh, and modern.

04 PIVOTAL HEALTH A Physical therapy Healthcare Facility

Pivotal Health NYC’s new Sports Medicine,,Orthopedics &,Physical Tehrapy divi. sion handle's all sor non-surgical treatments of sport related injuries or similar injuries involving the bones,,joints,,and muscles. The goal for the expansion of their facility to an additional area of the Whitehall building,is to provide a onestop shop for patients, allowing for quality results,,efficiency, and convience like no other facility in NYC. The concept for this space uses the natural stucture,,connectivity and pivot points of the human bodys bones and muscles as inspiration for circulation and space planning,,lighting, and structual elements..Colors and art are used con. sciously to create a sporty yet sophisticated aesthetic..

SITE & SITE ANAYLSIS The Whitehall & The Annex Building Location: 17 Battery Place, New York, NY 10044 Neighboorhood: Financial District

Emergency Stair

Small Amount of Indirect Light All Day

Most direct light after mid-day. City Views

Emergency Stair Most Light In Morning Mostly Indirect Sunlight Ample light most of the day. Mostly direct light & views of Hudson River

Small Roof Garden on 23rd Floor with River Views

Based on Case Studies analysis, the gym &therapy areas should have ample light and ven. tilation & views are a plus in these areas, as the longest duration of patient time is in these areas. Exam and treatment rooms should also have windows with natural light. I chose the 21st and 22nd floors of the annex building because its high enough to recieve ample light and good views, and also that this building has a great natural circulation and easy place. ment of rooms to prioritize & maximize window usage & ventilation. I also chose this floor because of the small outdoor terrace.Having an outdoor terrace in a facility like this is great for soothing muscles with direct sunlight & for fresh air to improve circulation within the body. Another great use is to use this outdoor space as an extension of the therapy space on sunny days where rehabilitation can be practiced outside.

07 VEGAN KITCHEN From concept to construction

For our final project in Kitchen & Bath Design, we completed a full set of construction documents for a chef's home kitchen. My client was a vegan chef who recently purchased a New York City apartment and is renovating to be able to create her fully equipped dream kitchen. While coming up with a design,,I took into consideration my clients passion for healthier living..Not only does she strive to create a healthier life for herself,,she also gives back to the environment, to animals and to others to help them live a better quality of life..Therefore, not only does the design focus on the direct needs for a functional vegan kitchen, it utilizes as many sustainable materials as possible..The kitchen and bath will be in a modern design utilizing clean lines,,functionality,,and natural materals as ornament..
