Nature / Greenery
Abstract: The goal for this design is to integrate a feeling of the natural environment within an urban space to create a feeling of calmness. This may be achieved by using natural elements throughout the building, as well as including organic motions and attributes within. Using larger windows within the public area can help to encourage an indoor-outdoor relationship and could open the space up by providing more natural light. Biophilia design could be used within the cafĂŠ or restaurant as a way to incorporate nature and allow for a more calming atmosphere. Throughout the spa, water features with moving water, such as fountains or motions of falling water, will enhance the calming experience by providing organic sounds. Dim lighting and natural elements of wood and stone would increase the sense of being outdoors in a stress-free environment. As more spaces are designed, it has become clear that social integration is important within certain spaces. This space will allow for individuals to relax while also meeting new people and having new experiences. Although social integration is important, it is also vital to recognize the public versus private spaces and how individuals interact within them. The public common area may be an open space for people to sit and talk to people, but including a space within a space can be a successful design attribute. Concept: Located in Denver, CO, this space is an oasis of green-friendly hospitality that welcomes guests and visitors with its tranquil ambiance and advanced features. The concept of this environment derives from that of a blue butterfly. As a connection to the site in Denver, the Butterfly Pavilion is located 13.5 miles from the site and was the first stand-alone non-profit insect exhibit in the US (1995), housing 1,200 free-flying butterflies. This space emulates the characteristics of a blue butterfly by including soft whimsical features. The butterfly is a symbol of serenity, universal harmony, and peace which is what this spa and public space will reflect.

Concept PRECISION
This concept of wrapping, connecting, and control has been inspired by the Paper Marbling Workshop. The design of this boutique hotel has come together by combining and connecting elements and materials. Throughout the space there is a sense of wrapping of wood and durability of iron. With precision, the space has been crafted to emulate the making of the box using linear edges and controlled angles.

Tradeshow Booth Commercial
CONCEPT These four disciplines are Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, and Construction Management and they are what make up the School of Design and Construction. The design of my tradeshow booth displays the information and many examples of projects designed by students within the School of Design and Construction at Washington State University and how those disciplines come together throughout the design process to get to the final product. The concept of four points to a project is displayed by the use of rectangles and represents a finished project that has been created through the integration of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, and Construction Management.
