The Musgrave Gin Bar is a collaborative space where premium brands Schweppes and Musgrave Gin came together to refurbish and restyle the existing Signal Hill Terrace Bar to create a chic inner-city refuge from suburban hustle and bustle. MUSGRAVEDRINKS Borrowing from the style in which international fashion houses release seasonal collections, Musgrave Gin has released new functional blends styled and combined to create a fashionably forward range of cocktails dressed in their seasonal best.

Opulence and luxury take center stage, where functional (health and super food ingredients) blended cocktails sashay into the limelight using sought-after ingredients and exquisite garnishes.

The Musgrave brand is known for being ahead-of-trend and the must-sip drinks have been developed to include some of the world’s most current and trending ingredients. Wellbeing and the “detox-retox” mindset means giving your body a bit of self-care whilst PAGE 20indulging, this is mindfully something founder Simone Musgrave knows is important to her global audience.

Look out for ingredients you’re more used to seeing in juice bars and health delis than high-end cocktail bars and hotels and restaurants; cold brew coffee, beetroot juice, activated charcoal, chai tea, ginger root, and lemongrass.

50ml Musgrave Pink 25ml tawny port 25ml beetroot juice Pinch activated charcoal 1 slice ginger (Muddled) Top grapefruit and vanilla foam (500ml ISI whip – 200ml strained grapefruit juice 200ml vanilla syrup 100ml cellulose/xanthan mix or 4 egg whites with 1 x gelatine sheet) METHOD: shake and double strain and top. THE BEST HOLIDAY TIPPLE The Recipe:

Makes +/- 5 glasses (250ml) Ingredients 1/2 Bottle Warwick First Lady dry Rosé 200ml Musgrave Pink Gin 150 ml Vanilla Syrup (add a little more if you prefer a sweeter cocktail) 100ml Lime Juice – Freshly squeezed limes work best!

400ml Soda water

Method Mix & stir all ingredients in a large jug.

Line glasses with ribbons of cucumber Fill Glasses quarter of the way with ice Top up glass with your beautiful summery pink liquid!

Garnish with mint (make sure you smash the mint leaves between your palms to release the oil and flavour) and thin wedges of lime.

Another cosmopolitan experience awaits at The Maslow Sandton this summer.

Fridays will be tickled pink with innovative gin-inspired cocktails to end off the week.

Served at poolside within the hotel’s tranquil oasis garden, The Maslow’s crafted cocktails are the perfect way to say “hello” to the weekend.

The cocktails are expertly prepared at The Maslow’s Lacuna Bar which has become something of a social hotspot for after-work drinks with colleagues and lazy sundowners on weekends.

Guests can also enjoy a selection of draught and bottled beer, handpicked wines, light meals and sushi inside or outside on the terrace.

The star of the sundowners’ show on The Maslow’s Pink Fridays is Musgrave Gin – a premium, award-winning gin that acknowledges the flavours and history of Africa and its ancient spice route. Musgrave original crafted Gin has 11 botanicals, with top notes of aromatic Cardamom, African Ginger (Whitei Mondei) and Grains of Paradise.

Also in the cast is Warwick First Lady Chardonnay, Warwick First Lady Rosé, an effortlessly elegant, balanced rosé with teeth tingling acidity and a delicate alcohol level of 11%, as well as the premium, handcrafted mixers from Fitch & Leedes.

A must try on the cocktail menu is the First Lady Cocktail, an invigorating blend of Warwick First Lady Rosé, Musgrave Pink Gin, elderflower syrup, lime and Fitch & Leedes tonic. Another not-to-be-missed experience is the Gintleman, a spicy mix of Musgrave Original Gin, topped with Fitch & Leedes tonic and dressed with fresh basil. The glass is washed with Absinthe before the cocktail is poured to add flavour.

The Miss Fitch’s Fluff is a playful cocktail, decked with candy floss. The beautifully prepared cocktails range price from R75 to R80 each.
