Who Do YOU know?

Thirty-One is a business built on relationships – and you’ve been building those relationships along every step of your journey! In the left column, write the names of people you have already connected with – including past Hostesses and Customers and potential team members. These are the ladies to whom you want to offer the next party, new product or the opportunity to join your team. In the right column you will be putting a twist on your original F.R.A.N.K.S. list with people outside of your circle of friends and family. These are friends that you haven’t made yet, but your friends and family will help you do that!

celebrate NO! We want you to celebrate every contact you reach out to – even if the answer is “no.” That’s because every “no” brings you one step closer to a “yes” and to your next party, sale or new team member. “Yes” lives in the Land of No; you have to go through “No” to get to “Yes”! Use this chart to keep track of every “yes” and “no” you gather when making contacts and offering the opportunity to shop, host or join your team. Mark a smile or a star for every “yes,” and a simple checkmark or X for “no.” Don’t forget to celebrate after you’ve marked off every square in each section!

WHAT party

type

ARE YOU? The party is at the heart of what we do – and your Hostesses have at least THREE ways to do it! Hostesses get the fullest party experience in-person, but you can “W.O.W.” her and her guests through a social media or Catalog party, too. Make sure your Hostesses know we have plenty of options to fit her partying needs!

Here’s a quiz you can take to decide which party is right for you and your Hostess! Use it as a thought starter for you or as a tool to help women overcome their objections about hosting:

Looking to plant the recruiting and booking seeds? All three party types offer you the opportunity to build relationships and grow your business!

Mostly A’s = Face-to-face party

Bringing people together face-to-face is the best way to party, plus it helps support the Thirty-One mission of building relationships. An in-home party also allows the Hostess to enjoy a night with her friends as you lead the full-service fun! You’ll be rewarded too, not only with sales but with lots of opportunities to practice your party techniques – storytelling, active listening and asking open-ended questions!

Mostly B’s = Catalog party Who are your Hostess’ guests? A. A mix of friends, family and other contacts who live nearby B. Mostly from one group, like co-workers, Bible study friends or sports parents C. Friends and family who live all over the country

How involved in the party does your Hostess want to be? A. She’s most comfortable in the background B. She loves being front and center – she can practically sell the products herself! C. She enjoys participating here and there

How important is it for her Customers to see the products in person? A. Very! It’s important that they see how the products function and work together B. Moderately – my Hostess wants to share a few key pieces from the new Catalog C. Not very – these are mostly repeat Customers who know the products well

Depending on how your Hostess answers, you can figure out which type of party is best for her!

This type of party can be held anywhere – from sports practices to the office – and is best for a smaller group of people. Hostesses work hardest at a Catalog party because the Consultant isn’t there in person to answer questions, take orders or demonstrate products. Provide your Hostess the opportunity to have a few products at a Catalog party, so it’s a great opportunity to showcase a particular chapter Customers might be interested in or a few new products.

Mostly C’s = Social media party

A social media party, held online, is a good option for women who have family and friends who live too far away to make it to a home party. It’s also great for women with a busy schedule who don’t have time for a party in person. Customers can shop any time of the day – even in their pajamas! This party type also gives Hostesses a chance to get involved in the party as they work with the Consultant to post updates and information to the party page.

No clear winner?

Talk with your Hostess more about what she wants out of the party. Some things you might want to consider are her schedule, her familiarity with the brand and the newness of the season. Suggest to your Hostess that you try a blended approach with social support before and after a faceto-face party. That way her guests can get to know you and become familiar with Thirty-One. Plus you can gather outside orders before or after the party to help your Hostess earn those Hostess Exclusives. Though we encourage the in-person party model, it’s important to remember that EVERY party is good for your business!

Five Steps to a Great Party! A great party is five simple steps away! Using the outline below, plant three recruiting seeds and three booking seeds throughout your party to see your success grow!

1. Intro/Welcome • Welcome guests to the party by greeting them at the door. This is your first opportunity to make a connection with them. • Keep it short and sweet and let them know how excited you are to be there. • In your presentation, introduce yourself, Thirty-One and the Hostess. • “Why” Bag. Share your “why” with the Hostess and guests as part of your presentation. This is a great way to plant your first recruiting seed during the party by sharing your enthusiasm about Thirty-One.

2. Celebrate the Hostess • Bring your Hostess to the front and allow guests to share why she’s special. • She is your partner for a successful party. Celebrate her and let her know how much you appreciate her. • When you share what the Hostess is working toward – including all the free products she can earn – this is your first booking seed opportunity.

3. Product Demo • Share Thirty-One products with your guests. During Hostess Coaching, learn all that you can about the guests and their hobbies and interests so you can show them product sets that offer solutions for their lives! • Recruiting and booking seeds are easy to insert here, based upon your products and your guest interaction. Be sure to have one of each seed tied to products or solutions you share.

4. Wrap Up & Close • A great way to close your party with your third booking and recruiting seed is to share something like, “As you make your wish list of products tonight, I’ll be happy to help you choose your prints and embroidery options. If you find that there are five or more products you like, I’d like to help you get them for free or half-price as a Hostess, and if you have way more than five products you can’t live without, you should consider doing what I do and joining my team as a Thirty-One Consultant.” • Bring your party to a close and let guests know how much you enjoyed spending time with them.

5. Full-Service Checkout • It’s time to personally connect with each guest. Make yourself available and don’t forget to suggest additional products, ask them to book a party of their own and offer the Thirty-One opportunity – they just might be your next recruit!

your Launch Party

booking

Starting your own business is exciting, and it deserves a grand opening! We call this opening your Launch Party. The purpose of this party is to share Thirty-One with others in order to generate sales and future party bookings, plus identify friends to join you on this journey. What’s unique about a Launch Party is that you are the Hostess! Not only will you have fun kicking off your business and sharing it with others, but you can also experience what it feels like to be a Hostess and earn Hostess Rewards, like free products and Hostess Exclusives!

your First Parties

Bookings keep you in business; you will want to ensure you consistently have three or more parties booked on your calendar. There’s no better time to start booking those parties than right now! So what do you do? Look back at your “Who Do You Know?” list (found on the page 11 of this guide) and begin making calls. Try something like this:

“Hello Sue. How are you? Is this a good time to talk? “I’ve started a new business with an amazing company that specializes in fashionable products to keep you organized in your home and in your life. The company is Thirty-One Gifts, and I am so excited! I wanted to offer you the opportunity to have a fun time with your friends while earning some of your favorite products for free. Hosting a party would also be a big help to me as I am getting started. I am looking to party on <offer specific date> or <offer specific date>. Which one of those dates works best for you?”

tip

Plan your Launch Party within 10 days of signing up.

2

tip

It’s up to you how many parties you will hold each month, but to improve your party skills, it’s a great idea to hold at least four during your first 30 days. (Imagine learning to swim. While you might only swim a few times a year, it would be difficult to become proficient with just one lesson a month for six months.)

For some great tips on bookings, visit ThirtyOneToday.com (or .ca for Canada). Type “bookings” in the TOT search bar to learn more. Bookings

Hostess

coaching

Coaches provide encouragement, support and tips to help you achieve your goals. You’ll need to be that type of coach for your Hostess to have a great party. Hostess Coaching is about sharing and learning with back-and-forth conversations, so you can help your Hostess reach the success she wants for her party.

One helpful tool you will want to use for every party is the Hostess Coaching Checklist on ThirtyOneToday.com (or .ca for Canada). This tool guides you through a series of connections with your Hostess to help you not only have a great party but to develop a relationship. In addition to your Hostess Coaching Checklist, an email invite system is included as part of your Virtual Office (this is an online system to support your business – check out the glossary on page 10 of this guide to learn more).

We love to party at Thirty-One! We love it so much so that we offer a few different types of parties. Our favorite is a face-to-face party, where the Hostess invites her friends to her home, a restaurant or even a ball field for some fun and shopping. When you can share some time together face to face, you get to know guests in a way that is engaging, allowing you to show our products and share all of our opportunities.

After the Order Entry

When your party is over, it is time to submit those orders! Visit TOT and search “Virtual Office” to learn how to create orders.

Customer Service

? Did you

Customer service is essential to any good business, and at Thirty-One we like to call it “Pink Glove Service.” Treat your Customers with respect and kindness, ensuring that they are having fun at the party, and that they are satisfied with their products once their order has been shipped. One of the most important aspects of Pink Glove Service is making a follow-up call after orders are received. Why? Because this allows you to confirm your Customer is happy with the order, see if she has any other needs and when you can connect again. These calls are easy, fun and a great way to reconnect with your guests after the party! While you have her on the phone, remind her about upcoming monthly specials. See if she is interested in making additional purchases, hosting a party or even joining your Thirty-One team! Do whatever you can to ensure Pink Glove Service and make a strong connection with her.

Know?

When you show your enthusiasm for what you’re doing, it naturally draws at others in. Have fun with wh ers you’re doing and oth will take notice.

6

tip

Call guests who couldn’t attend the party and offer to personally share the products with her friends and family.

tip

Remember to call the guests who didn’t order to ask if they enjoyed the party. When they answer yes, ask if they would like to gather some friends and family for a fun Thirty-One party of their own.

share the opportunity

New women just like you are joining the Thirty-One family every day because they love our products and mission, want to earn some extra income and are looking to fulfill a dream through this business. And many Consultants soon discover a benefit they never imagined – the reward of helping others achieve their own dreams. Thirty-One is better when it’s shared. Whenever Thirty-One Consultants begin to talk about what they love most about their business, one word comes up: Sisterhood. Inviting someone to join your team might seem intimidating, but it shouldn’t. It really isn’t about selling her anything; it’s about discovering her “why” and offering her the opportunity to achieve her dreams through starting her own Thirty-One business.

There are a few simple steps to inviting someone to join your team. Talk to a person on your “Who Do You Know?” list or a guest from a party. Have a genuine conversation by asking open-ended questions about her interests and family. An easy way to do this is to use the F.O.R.M. approach! Ask open-ended questions to learn about her: • Family The point of these questions is for you • Occupation to make sure you get to know her better • Recreational interests and understand the reasons “why” • Message of importance Thirty-One is a perfect fit for her! (find out what’s more important to her) Restate what you learned about her and her “why” and ask if she would like to earn income while having fun. Mention that Consultants can earn about $150 at an average party.* Help her schedule her Launch Party plus three more parties.

tip

Whenever you’re sharing the opportunity with a potential new team member, use your Opportunity Brochure to help explain what she can earn.

* Based on average party sales of $600. US: Representations made about income should not be considered as typical or guarantees of your potential earnings or profits as a Thirty-One Consultant. Your success with Thirty-One depends upon many factors, such as the extent of your sales efforts. Some great hashtags to use include #31party, #31uses, #31fashion and #31why. • Tell – don’t sell – your story on social media – make sure that the posts and images that you are sharing are genuine. • Do not link to your personal Thirty-One website in any posts on your personal account – this is against Facebook guidelines. • Read your Consultant Guidebook, which can be found on TOT by searching “Consultant Guidebook.” • Follow the company pages and accounts for images and inspiration. Anything that is posted on these accounts is meant for you to interact with and share.
