Pot Maya is an annual festival to celebrate the 'Patachitra' tradition of West Bengal. The 'Patas' or scrolls depict a series of paintings painted with natural colors and the 'Patua' or painter sings the painted story while unfurling the patas. Each line of the paintings is made by a single stroke of the paint brush. Held during the end of November in Naya, Pingla village of Paschim Medinipur, this 3 day festival serves as an opportunity for artists, aficionados and novices to interact with the artists and learn more about the unique tradition of making natural colors from vegetables, fruits and flowers and even painting Patachitra through workshops.
