Performance Spaces in Bangalore
Indian classical performance spaces
Cultural activity was mainly centernd in the temples and king’s courts during the pre british period in india.Patronage for performing arts resided in these places.
During the British Rule in india The performing arts moved away from the temple complex and king’s courts, especially after the abolition of the devdassi system by the brtish. These various art forms get institutionalised as a result of this. Ex : 1935: Bharathnatyam gets institutionalised by Rukmini Devi Arundale in Kalakshetra foundation. Kalakshetra foundation took bharthanatyam to the stages of auditorium fromm the temples.Individual patrons and organisations establish sabhas to continue annd enjoy these arts music drama Multipurpose - music, dance and drama
