honors queen lili‘uokalani’s life and legacy On November 11, 1917, people across Hawai‘i mourned the loss of their last reigning monarch, Queen Lili‘uokalani. In preparation for the day marking a 100 years since her passing, Senator Brickwood Galuteria and Senator Kai Kahele spearheaded the creation of Aloha Lili‘u. The special event was a commemorative tribute held on Nov. 11 at her statue,

adjacent to the ‘Iolani Palace. OHA was among the many organizations and individuals that came together to support the tribute to our beloved wahine mö‘ï. Even a century after her death, Queen Lili‘uokalani still stands as an extraordinary symbol of eloquence, courage, grace and compassion for her people. ¢
