Inclusion Day Camp Support

New this summer! Kawartha Lakes Parks and Recreation is proud to announce the introduction of our Inclusion Support program, intended to foster accessible and inclusive opportunities for participants of all abilities. This program is made possible through funding from the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association and the Government of Canada. Inclusion support may be suitable if the camper:

• Receives additional support at school

• Engages in behaviour that could affect the safety of themselves or others

• Is associated with a support agency

Requesting Inclusion Support

You are able to request one on one inclusion support for our Weekly Day Camp programs (Junior Explorers, Create and Play, and/ or Sports Camp). Please note; applicants will be eligible to request a maximum of two weeks of support. This will ensure that all applicants have the opportunity to participate in the program.

You must register in the Inclusion Services Support course for the week of your choosing – registering in this course is the only way to ensure your request for inclusion support is received.

Our Program Coordinator will confirm if the request for inclusion support has been fulfilled. Requests are processed in the order they are received, and based on the availability of inclusion staff. Participants may provide their own support staff to assist if desired.

Please note that participants who may require assistance with toileting or continence-related needs will be asked to attend with an external support worker/ caregiver to assist with these needs.

For more information, please contact our Program Coordinator at (705) 324-9411 extension 1307.

External Support Workers

External support workers can attend all camp programs. The municipality may request personal information from the support worker for emergencies, and requires families to complete the Outside Support Worker Release form prior to attending program.

All external support workers must submit a Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (issued within the last six months) and proof of a valid Standard

First Aid and CPR-C certification prior to attending the program.

Inclusion
