CHRISTIAN CHUR CH We were tasked to design a church for a certain community. It’s up to us of what religion we choose for the church. I chose to design my church as a Christian Church. Design Concept: “Symbol of Christianity” There are many symbols of Christianity. In ancient times, Ichthys which is the Greek word for fish, and it was one of the most important early Christian symbols. Birds are also used as Christian symbols. In general, birds have long symbolized the soul’s ascent to God above material things. So my design was inspired by these two symbols.

E VACUATION FACILIT Y An evacuation facility should be readily operational once natural disaster comes in. Furthermore, to maximize its full use, the facility should also be with a multi-purpose function able to contribute to the growth of the community. Design Objective: To create a sustainable multi-purpose facility that has an evacuation center capable of accommodating 50 families or 250 people. Design Concept: “Gathering Place Community Center / Evacuation Center” A gathering place is any place where people are able to congregate. The design is inspired by the word ‘connection’. Structured line construct with connecting parts that connects each spaces to a center point where the congregation is located.

The land has rested over 8 years now. We have decided to develop the site as a focal point of social interactions among with the surrounding communities. ESTUDIO DAMGO 7 : A THREE-STORE Y VIE WING TOWER

Foundation University’s Estudio Damgo is a program that chooses a new community project every year, engaging local community in good design through the provision of a structure that showcases cultural relevance, innovation, and sustainability. Our goal is for all architecture students to earn first hand experience with construction and community design while providing the community a long term, valuable asset they would never have gotten otherwise. For the past 6 years, Estudio Damgo has molded the lives of people through their sensible and sustainable projects that has really benefited the users of the community. The first community project is a Day Care Center located in Dungga, Valencia; second is a Multi-purpose Hall in Bajumpandan, Dumaguete; third is the Marine Sanctuary located in Bantayan, Dumaguete; fourth is the Information Center located at the Port of Dumaguete; fifth is a Public Comfort Lounge located at Rizal Boulevard, Dumaguete; and the sixth project is a Children’s Playground located at the Foundation Preparatory Academy Campus. Please see the attachment for a summary of the Estudio Damgo Projects 1-6.

For this year, the team has chosen a community in Baslay, Dauin, Negros Oriental that runs a coffee shop managed by the Baslay Farmers’ Association. The association have resulted in tons of success stories, and in order to maintain this flourishing momentum, the Estudio Damgo team envisions themselves in enriching the sustainability of the resources as well as enhancing the livelihood of the Baslayanon through our master plan proposal and the construction of a Viewing Tower, that will serve as an extension to the existing coffee shop in the area.
