RESIDENTIAL DESIGN

Aro

A conceptual 1000 square foot residence The residence is tucked away in the Wasatch mountains of Park City, Utah. Three curtain walls give the space a gorgeous view of the mountains, as well as making the small space feel bigger than it is. I would describe the interior as eclectic, colorful, and bold. The concrete exterior wall was inspired by the shape of a Saguaro cactus found in southern Utah. With sharp angles, the wall creates the shape for the rest of the residence.

The project included two Revit renderings, four exterior elevations, doors and window schedules, floor plans, wall sections, cabinet details, mechanical and electrical plans, and a 1/4 to 1’ scaled model of the residence.

CONSTRUCTION DOCS

Construction Docs. I am master of CAD

CAD is my second language. I feel very comfortable designing pretty much anything using the program. For most projects I use CAD for space planning, construction documents, cabinet details, and 3D modeling as well as Revit.

Mint

Puerto Rican Residence

Commercial luxury

Mint a medical spa in Salt Lake, provides luxurious amenities in unexpected surroundings. Customers can withdrawal from the world and leave in mint condition. The cave-like space is achieved through the use of curves and organic shapes. Bright accents of color were added to give the space energy.

A high end residential project with a USU visiting designer Mint is an existing building that I strategically space planned. All specified products used in the project complied with commercial design qualifications and ADA regulations. I also drew a complete set of construction docs including a electrical and mechanical map and door and window schedules.

The Puerto Rican residence was a semester long project under the direction of Benjamin Noreiga Ortiz, a high end residential designer based in New York City. The conceptual project is of a two story apartment. The goals of the project were to design spaces that reflected Ortiz’s style, while infusing the Puerto Rican culture and use of color. At the end of the semester Ortiz gave each student feedback on the project.

VERGE

Taking design to the edge

With the help of a team of four, we designed and specified a corporate headquarters for an ice climbing company. Verge is the hypothetical design firm. My group designed a dynamic space plan for a 10,000 sq. ft building and specified furniture that complied with ADA and commercial standards. Our designs were a direct reflection of the company’s culture and needs.

Books of Yesterday A Redesign of an existing bookstore for the Daltile student competition in 2014 Daltile’s criteria was to redesign an existing space that addresses the users needs in a creative way. Books of Yesterday was a used book store with peeling paint and in a state of depression. With thousands of college students so close to its’ doors, the bookstore had great potential, therefore I designed a multi-purpose space accessible to the student population of students.

The redesign incorporates a cafe in the front to lure people off the street to explore the books in the back. I incorporated Daltile tile in my cafe as well as the floor, which was a requirement for the competition. To qualify to win, I had to market myself. I used social media; twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to get the public to vote for my design.

Sketches

Patterns

The summer of 2014, I participated in a month long study abroad with Utah State University Interior Design program. Architecture and art museums all over England, Paris, Venice, Florence, and Rome filled up each day. After study abroad, I traveled for another six weeks across Europe. I took the opportunity to sketch on site and create patterns from the places and objects I saw. The sketches above are of the Piazza della Repubblica in Florence, Pantheon in Rome, and a statue from the Boboli garden in Florence.

Each pattern was created using Illustrator and Photoshop. The top left pattern was inspired by the triangular, glass entrance of the Louvre Museum. The bottom left pattern was inspired by the London tube. The top right is inspired by wine bottles found every where in Europe. The last pattern in the bottom right was inspired by a pendant found in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

WAITING ROOM

Waterford Hospital Relaxing and comfortable commercial spaces

This conceptual labor and delivery wing was inspired by boutique hotels. The interiors of Waterford Hospital are a combination of pattern, color, and comfort. The goal of the project was for patients to forget that they were in a hospital, but waiting in the lobby of their favorite hotel.

The hospital is strategically designed to provide public and private spaces that incorporate nature and modern technology. Green walls, gardens, and charging stations were added to improve the wellness and convenience of patients.
