Gedling Homes/ Newstead Village Case Study
Working with Bullock Construction, KBI UK has helped to regenerate 51 properties owned by Gedling Homes in Newstead Village, Nottinghamshire. KBI FlexiTM-Pave was installed in both front and rear gardens, helping to revitalise the look of the neighbourhood and transform the quality of the properties. As part of an ongoing commitment to upgrade their housing stock, Gedling Homes and their main contractor Bullock Construction also replaced the roofs and fencing in all 51 addresses. As the photos highlight, the external areas of the properties were in a desperate condition, with most of the material used to cover them cracked, worn and uneven. Neil Ward from Bullock Construction explained why KBI Flexi™-Pave was chosen. "We have worked with KBI UK on a number of other projects and we were convinced that their KBI Flexi™-Pave material would be the right choice for the Newstead Village project. The fact that the material could be laid straight on top of the old surface was a major benefit, reducing the need for costly and time consuming groundwork's enabling us to keep the works to schedule and on budget. We are delighted with the finished work and the effect it has had on the residents who live in the properties." Laying the KBI Flexi™-Pave material on top of the old surface meant that existing drains could be used, with water permeating through the porous material and running across the old surface hidden beneath it. Minor work was conducted on a handful of the properties to ensure that water would be directed to the existing drains.
