As tenacious as any Seahawk, Wagner College enjoys a bucolic perch atop Grymes Hill overlooking Manhattan and the other boroughs of New York City. Founded in 1883 as a Lutheran proseminary, Wagner has evolved to become an independent residential liberal arts college enrolling a capacity of over 2,000 students. The location of the College above the gateway to one of the world’s greatest financial and cultural capitals was the work of alumnus Frank Sutter who convinced the College’s Board of Trustees to relocate Wagner here from Rochester in 1918. In this, the Rev. Sutter and the trustees were extraordinarily prescient. Their wisdom provided Wagner with a distinct geographical advantage over all other all liberal arts colleges in the country. Wagner is New York State’s southernmost college and its 105 park-like acres represent the highest elevation on the eastern seaboard from Maine to Key West Florida. The College’s signature curriculum – the Wagner Plan for the Practical Liberal Arts – capitalizes on the best of a traditional, suburban, liberal arts college campus and the infinite array of educational opportunities afforded by New York City. Students intern in the world’s leading financial institutions. They observe and experience diversity from the sophisticated workings of the United Nations to melting pots of multicultural neighborhoods. They circulate in the city’s unparalleled creative environment of museums, media, and performing arts. This is their laboratory. They immerse themselves and are inspired by the city’s sheer energy. The contrast between the frenetic life of the city and the almost pastoral setting of the campus is the perfect metaphor for the melding of experiential and theoretical education that is the hallmark of The Wagner Plan. In small learning communities, students and faculty explore the conceptual foundations of the arts, humanities, and sciences. The faculty challenges students to consider new ideas, to master new skills and technologies, and to reflect and draw meaning from what they have experienced in and out of the classroom. A lush canopy of mature maples and oaks shades Wagner’s 105-acre campus of manicured lawns and gardens; historic and modern buildings; and sweeping views of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and New York Harbor. In early 2009, former U.S. President Bill Clinton recognized Wagner College and President Richard Guarasci, at the second annual Clinton Global Initiative University. Wagner was cited for the Port Richmond Partnership, an innovative program that will focus the school’s community resources in an effort to improve quality of life in a specific Staten Island neighborhood. Movie companies have frequently used the campus as a classic college setting, most recently for a movie titled “School of Rock” starring Jack Black (Shallow Hal). The picturesque campus was also used in a fall 2001 television series, The Education of Max Bixford, starring Richard Dreyfus and as the site of a prospective private military school in the HBO series, The Sopranos.

Since the adoption of the Wagner Plan in 1997, enrollment has increased by nearly 40 percent and student quality as measured by high school average and SAT scores have improved as well. Once largely a commuter campus, now 82 percent of all undergraduates live on campus in residence halls that offer “million dollar” views. Though continuing to serve students from metropolitan New York, the college draws most of its enrollment from beyond the immediate region. By every measure – enrollment, endowment, and national reputation – Wagner is ascending the ranks of America’s strongest small colleges that blend the liberal arts with a commitment to service and preparation for the professions. Campus life includes the array of sports provided by an NCAA Division I program which is housed in a 93,000-square-foot sports center featuring an extensive fitness center, an indoor NCAA swimming pool and a basketball arena. A football and track & field stadium showcases a variety of playing fields throughout the campus including baseball, softball, lacrosse and soccer venues. Wagner’s alumni include Broadway Tony award winners, movie stars, film producers, playwrights, and Fortune 500 CEO’s including the chairman of GE Investments, the chairman of Dupont Europe, the chairman Emeritus of The Oppenheimer Management Company and the chairman of the New York Power Authority. Dr. Richard Guarasci Wagner College President Dr. Richard Guarasci is the 18th President of Wagner College, where he was previously the Provost and Senior Vice President, responsible for academic and student affairs, admissions, and support service, in addition to serving as the chief operating officer. He holds the rank of Professor of Political Science and he teaches in the areas of democracy, citizenship and American diversity. At Wagner, Dr. Guarasci founded The Wagner Plan for the Practical Liberal Arts, the fouryear curriculum for all undergraduates, that draws together a substantive liberal arts core into a series of learning communities and experiential learning tutorials. Dr. Guarasci was Dean of the College and Professor of Political Science at Hobart College from 1992-1997. Previously he served as Dean and founding Director of the First Year Program at St. Lawrence University, a nationally celebrated model program of democratic living and learning required for all first year students that joined first year housing to a two semester schedule. Dr. Guarasci is the author of Democratic Education in the Age of Difference: Redefining Citizenship in Higher Education (Jossey-Bass, 1997), and numerous other publications including 3 books, more than 20 articles and more than 50 conference presentations. He is now a national leader in higher education with many speaking engagements throughout the United States. He is an active educational consultant for more than 20 universities and colleges. Time Magazine selected him as a National Undergraduate Educator and he received awards from the Sears Foundation, the Glitz Family Prize and many other citations including a day of recognition by proclamation of the City Council in Geneva, New York. Recently, Congressman Vito Fossella and the Staten Island Civic Association both cited him for public service on Staten Island. He served on the National Board of Directors of the American Association of Colleges and Universities,The Board of Trustees of the Independent Colleges Fund of New York and he is co-chair of New York State Campus Compact. He is a Fellow of the Society for Values in Higher Education (SVHE) and a PEW Foundation Fellow with the Washington Center for Learning in building natural leadership in Learning Communities. He is a member of the faculty for the Asheville Institute and an Advising Board Member for the Models for Democracy Project of SVHE. Dr. Guarasci recently authored ‘Developing the Democratic Arts” in About Campus (Feb. 2001) and “On Becoming the Good College: Lessons Learned” in Liberal Education. Dr. Guarasci holds a Bachelor of Science from Fordham University. He received his M.A. in Economics and Ph.D. in Political Science from Indiana University.

Walter Hameline Director of Athletics / Head Football Coach

Now in his 30th year as Director of Athletics and Head Football Coach at Wagner College, the relentlessly energetic and optimistic Walt Hameline continues to amass an astounding record of achievement and consistency. On Nov. 6, 2010, Hameline became just the eighth active Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) coach to win 200 games with a 31-20 victory over Monmouth and ranks 66th (tied) on the all-time NCAA wins list (any level). In addition, he is one 36 coaches to win 200 games at one school

While his coaching success is immense, Hameline has been equally effective as an administrator. Under Hameline’s leadership, the Seahawk athletic department has undergone an ambitious expansion in both sport offerings and facility improvements. In the spring of 2002, Wagner introduced women’s water polo to its slate and the Seahawks now feature 20 sport offerings. Known for his keen vision and boundless enthusiam, Hameline was influential in establishing the Seahawk Golf Classic, now in its 19th year, and the Seahawk Club, a pair of intitiaves aimed at increasing funds for the scholarship endowment and complete financial support for the athletic department. Most recently under Hameline’s direction, the Wagner College Stadium field has been resurfaced with a state-of-the-art Field Turf playing surface. This multi-purpose surface was constructed in the summer of 2006 and is used for football, soccer and lacrosse. In 1997 Hameline governed the opening of Wagner’s football stadium and outdoor track & field facility and was instrumental in erecting the Spiro Sports Center in the spring of 1999 - a 93,000 square-foot building which houses a 2,100-seat, multi-purpose arena, a six-lane swimming pool, team locker rooms and all athletic department offices. In 1995, Hameline oversaw the opening of new athletic fields at the base of Grymes Hill to house additional teams. This multisport facility is presently home to the Seahawk softball team which, in 2007, underwent a vast reconstruction. An institution of high academic standards, Wagner was cited in the March 18, 2002 edition of US News & World Report for have the 15th best graduation rate amongst more than 300 Division I college and/or universities. In 2009, he guided the Seahawks to their 22nd winning season in his tenure, a 6-5 overall record and a 5-3 mark in the NEC. The Seahawks, picked eighth in the NEC Preseason Coaches Poll, were the surprise team of the year in the conference, finishing in a tie for third place. In addition, the Seahawks were the only NEC team to knock off first-place Central Connecticut St. last season. Hameline’s overall coaching ledger includes five ECAC Championships, three NCAA Tournament appearances and the 1987 NCAA Division III National Championship — all told, 10 post-season appearances in 29 seasons. Hameline won his 175th career game - all at Wagner with a come-from-behind victory over St. Francis (PA) in the 2005 season finale. He became the winningest coach in Wagner College history in 1990. The highlight, of course, is the 19-3 win over heavily-favored Dayton in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl for the 1987 NCAA Division III National Championship. Against one of the toughest schedules in the nation, Hameline’s Seahawks rolled to a 13-1 record, winning more games than any college football team in America. The team earned the school’s second Lambert Trophy, symbolic of football superiority in the East among Division III schools, and ECAC Team of the Year recognition. Hameline was honored by many organizations including the Chevrolet National Coach of the Year. Hameline was one of 23 members of the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Basketball Committee (MIBA), which previously stood as the governing body of the National Invitation Tournament. He is an active member of the American Football Coaches Association as well as the Division I-AA Eastern Regional Football Advisory Committee. The 58 year-old administrator, has been a key developer of the Northeast Conference, serving on numerous committees and served as president of the league. Eight years ago, Hameline was honored for his playing, coaching and administrative achievements when he was inducted into the Utica Sports Hall of Fame. In addition, Hameline was given the All-America Football Foundation Johnny Vaught Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998. An outstanding defensive back at Brockport State, Hameline received his Bachelor of Science degree in physical education in 1975, and went on to earn his Master’s Degree in education from the University of Albany in 1977. Hameline resides in Colts Neck, NJ, with his wife, Debbie, and their daughters Kristen and Kelly.

CREDENTIALS — Media credentials for Wagner College home games are issued only for working members of the media, and should be requested as early as possible. Requests must be made in writing on company letterhead and are honored only from sports editors of daily newspapers/magazines and sports directors of radio and television stations. Wagner College follows the guidelines set forth by the NCAA in governing the issuance of credentials. Season credentials will be granted only to daily newspapers and television/radio stations that cover Seahawk football on a regular basis. Otherwise, television/radio stations and weekly newspapers will be granted credentials on a single-game, space-available basis. Requests for season credentials should arrive by September 1. Requests for single-game credentials should arrive no later than one week in advance of a game. Newspapers and radio stations desiring their own private ines, to be installed in the press box, are recommended to contact the sports information office at (718) 390-3227. INTERVIEW POLICIES — All interviews with Wagner College football players must be arranged through the sports information office. PLAYERS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE ON GAME DAY UNTIL AFTER THE GAME.

POSTGAME INTERVIEWS — Following each game, there will be a 10-minute cooling-off period, during which the players will shower and dress. Approximately 10 minutes after the game ends, Coach Hameline will be available for comment. Following Coach Hameline’s interview session and the cooling-off period, the Seahawk locker room will be open to all members of the media. PLAYER TELEPHONE INTERVIEWS — Telephone interview requests for Coach Hameline and Seahawk players, which should be made 48 hours in advance when possible. Player interview will be made at an appropriate time, so as not to interfere with the academic schedule of the player(s).

From Points South Mid Atlantic States and Southern New Jersey: Take the New Jersey Turnpike north to Exit 10 (Outerbridge Crossing). After crossing the bridge, take Route 440 North (West Shore Expressway) for approximately 6 miles to I-278 East (Staten Island Expressway). Take I-278 East for approximately 5 miles, following signs to the Verrazano Narrows Bridge and Brooklyn. Take Exit 13 (Clove Road/Richmond Road/ Hyland Boulevard). At the first traffic light, turn left onto Clove Road. At the second light on Clove Road, turn right onto Howard Avenue. A sign for the College is visible at this intersection. Follow Howard Avenue to the top of Grymes Hill.

By plane/train/public transportation Plane: Three major airports serve New York City. Wagner College is most easily accessed from Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, though LaGuardia and JFK Airports are within reasonable travel distance. Car service is available between Wagner College and all three airports for around $40-$50 each way.

Southern New Jersey Shore: Take the Garden State Parkway north to Exit 127 (Outerbridge Crossing/Staten Island). Follow directions from Outerbridge Crossing provided above.

From points north and east New England (via New York) and Long Island: Take either the Belt Parkway or the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway to the Verrazano Bridge onto Staten Island; remain on I-278 West. Take Exit 13 (Clove Road/Richmond Road). Follow the service road to the third traffic light and turn right onto Clove Road. Take the first right onto Howard Avenue and proceed to the top of Grymes Hill.

Train: Amtrak, Long Island Railroad and New Jersey Transit trains arrive at Penn Station in Manhattan at 34th Street and 7th Avenue. Wagner College can be reached from Manhattan by taking the Staten Island Ferry, leaving at regular intervals throughout the day from the ferry terminal in lower Manhattan. From Penn Station, take either a cab or the New York City Subway (IRT Downtown #1 or #9 train to South Ferry; IRT #4 or #5 train to Bowling Green; IRT N or R to Whitehall Station) to the Battery Park Ferry Terminal. Wagner heads into the 2011 season looking for its seventh Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament berth in the last eight years and its first conference title since 2000. Leading the way for 12th year coach Joe Litterio are six returning starters on offense and five on the mound.

CATCHERS

Pacing the team behind the plate will be the combination of sophomore Gaby Ramirez and junior Hayden Hunter. In 2010, Ramirez saw the bulk of the time as the team’s primary backstop, playing in 52 games, including 47 starts, and hit a robust .258 with 12 extra base hits. A two-time NEC Rookie of the Week selection, he also gunned out 28.1 percent (25-89) of baserunners. Hunter, meanwhile, played in 19 games a year ago, including seven starts, and hit .333 with three doubles, two triples and one home run among his 11 hits while posting a .436 on-base percentage. Rounding out the catching unit is freshman Pat Fedorko (Lawrenceville, NJ / Lawrence).

INFIELD

For the first time since early in the 2007 season there will be a new first baseman penciled in on head coach Litterio’s line-up card. Gone is all-time NEC Home Run leader Vin Avella and his school-record 50 home runs and 165 RBI. Senior Jack Rice is slated to be the opening day first baseman after primarily seeing action as a pitcher over his first three years at Wagner. Also vying for time at first will be Hunter. Two-time All-Conference second baseman Seth Boyd returns as the starter for the fourth-straight year after playing in 50 games, including 48 starts a year ago. Boyd batted .321 with nine double, four home runs, 30 RBI and 15 stolen bases despite missing a short time due to injury en route to earning NEC Second Team league accolades. During NEC-play, he batted a blistering .378 and carried that success over to the summer as the lanky Garden State native was selected to the Coastal Plains League All-Star game. Boyd is arguably one of the most valuable players on the team due to his versatility, as he could also start at first base, shortstop or in the outfield. At shortstop, highly touted freshman Ian Vazquez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico / Perkiomen (PA)) is expected to draw the opening day starting assignment. Vazquez was drafted out of Perkiomen (PA) High School by the Houston Astros in the 45th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft after batting .528 as a senior while helping the Panthers to a 24-4 record. Also expected to crack the line-up in the infield is Seton Hall transfer junior Eddie Brown, who played in 64 games over two years for the Pirates. The smooth-fielding Brown had an outstanding summer for the Staten Island Tide of the ACBL, batting well over .300 and will most likely find his way into the line-up in some capacity, as he can play any of the four infield positions or DH. Expected to start at the hot corner is junior tri-captain Tommy Higgins. The diminutive Higgins displayed a solid glove and a potent bat in a break-out season in 2010. A year ago, the Garden State native played in 54 games, including 49 starts a year ago, and batted .295 with 11 doubles, two home runs and 31 RBI while garnering seeing time at both second and third. Looking to crack the infield rotation are freshmen Connor Abreu (Piscataway, NJ / Piscataway), Cliff Brantley (Staten Island, NY / Port Richmond) and Dave Pepe (Caldwell, NJ / James Caldwell). Senior Jon Lucas returns as the team’s starting designated hitter after earning First All-NEC honors a year ago, en route to hitting .308 with eight doubles, one triple, three home runs and 32 RBI over 48 games. Possessing a smooth swing, Lucas, who played in 48 games, including 46 starts, can spray the ball over all three fields and is expected to garner the bulk of the time as the DH when not starting on the mound.

OUTFIELD

Wagner faces the unenviable task of replacing all-time hits and stolen base leader Damian Csakai, who graduated with the reputation of being the top defensive outfielder in the NEC. Leading the returners is fifth-year senior and three-year starter Kevin McDonnell. The Nutmeg State native is again penciled in as the team’s right fielder after batting .313 a year ago with 13 doubles, three home runs, 31 RBI and 10 stolen bases while starting all 57 games. Not only an offensive force, he also led the entire NCAA with 13 outfield assists and will again display his powerful right arm. Over in centerfield will be fellow fifth-year senior and tri-captain Joe Conforti. The fleet-footed Staten Island native returns following a year hiatus due to injury and will be expected to replace Csakai in center. In 2009, he played in 47 games, including 39 starts, while batting .310 with seven doubles, three triples, 12 RBI and 13 stolen bases.

Earning the opening day start in left field is freshman Ian Miller (Downington, PA / Bishop Shanahan). The Keystone State native had a solid fall season and could contribute at any of the three outfield slots. Sophomore Nick Alfano enters the year as the team’s fourth outfielder after playing in 29 games, including 16 starts. The Sunshine State native hit .264 a year ago, but his play improved during conference play after entering the starting line-up late in the season. During league play, his average jumped over a 100 points to .364 as he also added a pair of doubles and one home run. The aforementioned freshmen Abreu, Brantley and Pepe could also see time in the outfield. PITCHERS On the mound, the Seahawks return the bulk of their pitching staff with the lone exception being 2009 NEC Pitcher of the Year Matt Watson, who hurled a team-best 78.1 innings en route to a 4-5 record a year ago. Looking to fill Watson’s void is Lucas, who led the team with 45 strikeouts in just 56.1 innings of work while posting a 5.91 ERA a year ago. The hard-throwing righthanded pitcher matched Watson for the team-lead with four wins, highlighted by a 7.0 innings of one-run ball against Monmouth in the NEC Tournament. Looking to step into the No. 2 slot is righty Mark Holmes. The 6-7, 245 pound Holmes has struggled with injuries over his first two years but has packed on some muscle during the offseason while showing increased agility that has led to greater velocity this past fall. A year ago, he went 2-2 with 12 strikeouts, against just five walks, with an 8.74 ERA over 22.2 innings. Rounding out the returning starters are senior RHP Dale Hering, sophomore RHP Christian Rautenstrauch and junior RHP Ryan Van Spronsen. Hering went 4-1 with 27 strikeouts and a 4.79 ERA over 35.2 innings a year ago in his first season at Wagner after transferring to Grymes Hill from Rutgers. Rautenstrauch established himself as a weekend pitcher after matching Watson and Lucas for the team-lead in victories while posting a 4-2 record with 26 strikeouts and a 6.02 ERA over 40.1 innings of work. The North Carolina native also established a reputation as a big-game pitcher with victories over Seton Hall, St. John’s and NEC Tournament favorite Sacred Heart. Rounding out the top returning starting pitchers is Van Spronsen, who saw time as both a starter and a reliever a year ago. The Canadian native posted a tough 2-7 record with 43 strikeouts over 59.0 innings and was the recipient of some bad luck. He has the ability to overpower batters and is accurate around the plate. In the bullpen, Rice will again look to fill the role of left-handed specialist after pitching in 17 games a year ago, striking out 23. Sophomore Dakota Dvorak is expected to fill the set-up role after turning in a solid rookie campaign in which he appeared in 16 games while striking out 17 over 23.2 innings of work. Returning as the closer is All-NEC Second Team Selection and Tri-captain David Rees. The crafty lefthander morphed from a situational pitcher into one of the most dominant relievers in the league a year ago, posting a scant 2.37 ERA, which dropped to a microscopic 1.10 during league games. He made a school-record 30 appearances, recording six saves and 36 strikeouts over 38.0 innings of work. For his career, Rees, who was also an Academic All-American in 2010, has posted a 2.71 ERA with seven saves, 59 punchouts and a 2.71 ERA over 66.1 innings of work. Looking to crack the pitching rotation will be freshmen RHP Ryan Casey (Paramus, NJ / St. Joseph Regional), RHP Matt Gavin (St. James, NY / Smithtown East), LHP Matt Morris (Matawan, NJ / St. John Vianney), RHP Nick Pavia (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph By The Sea), RHP Ryan Thompson (Doylestown, PA / Central Bucks East) and RHP Philip Weihn (Shrewsbury, MA / Clinton). Wagner will call Richmond County Bank Ballpark home again for the fourth-straight year. During that time the Seahawks have posted a 47-17 record, including a 31-11 mark during NEC play. This season the Green & White will play 21 games at the ballpark, highlighted by NEC match-ups with Mount St. Mary’s (3/17-3/19), defending NEC Tournament Champion Central Connecticut State (3/25-3/27), NEC Regular Season Champion Bryant (4/8-4/10) and Fairleigh Dickinson (5/6-5/8).

JOE LITTERIO Head Coach 12th Season / Rutgers, 1993 Head Coach Joe Litterio is entering his 12th season at the helm of the Seahawk baseball program in 2011. He directs all aspects of the program and works primarily with the hitters and infielders. In 2010, Litterio’s team placed a school-record five players on the All-NEC teams - including a pair of First Team selections. As an overall unit, the Seahawks recorded 26 victories - highlighted by victories over NCAA Regional participants CCSU, St. John’s and VCU - while reaching their third-straight NEC Tournament and the sixth in the last seven years. Vin Avella smashed a school-record 17 single-season home runs and finished his four-year career with a NEC-record 50 home runs. Damian Csakai also set the single-season record for most stolen bases in a season (41) and a career (132). Addtionally, the speedy centerfielder recorded school-records in hits (235), runs (162) and hit-by-pitches (43). In 2009, Wagner turned in arguably the top regular season in school-history. Litterio took home Akadema NEC Coach of the Year accolades while Matt Watson was named the Akadema 2009 NEC Pitcher of the Year. Additionally, Csakai was named to the NEC First Team and rising senior Seth Boyd to the Second Team. The Seahawks claimed their first-ever NEC Regular Season Championship while winning a school-record 31 games. Under Litterio’s guidance the Green & White also matched the single-season record with 17 NEC wins before finishing third at the NEC Tournament. The team also became just the second Wagner men’s squad to win a NEC Regular Season title. On the professional front, Litterio oversaw the development of two-time American League All Star and 2009 AL Rookie of the Year Andrew Bailey, who was drafted by in the sixth round by the Oakland A’s in June of 2006. Last year, he saved 25 games (out of 28 chances) while posting a miniscule 1.47 ERA with 42 strikeouts in 49.0 innings over 47 games. In 2009, he saved an Athletic rookie-record 26 saves (in 30 chances) while posting a 6-3 record, a 1.84 ERA, a 0.88 WHIP and 91 strikeouts in 83 1/3 innings over 68 appearances. Following the 2010 season, Avella and Andy Wells each inked professional contracts with the independent Frontier League. Wells then became Litterio’s eighth former Wagner player, and the seventh in the last five years, to sign a contract with an affiliated team when he inked a free agent contract with the Philadelphia Phillies in the offseason. Also in 2009, junior RHP Kyle Morrison and senior RHP Andrew Huebner entered the professional ranks. Morrision was selected in the 32nd round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Washington Nationals while Huebner inked a free agent contract with the Baltimore Orioles. In 2008, Litterio brought Wagner to heights never before reached. Under his guidance, the Seahawks notched 27 overall wins and 17 conference victories while returning to the NEC Tournament after a one-year absence. He also became the all-time winningest coach in school history with his 150th win over then No. 22 St. John’s, a 4-3 walk-off triumph that was also Wagner’s first victory over a ranked team. The Seahawks’ pitching staff also finished 12th nationally with a 3.85 team ERA, led by NEC Pitcher of the Year Joe Testa. On the heels of a successful four-year career that saw the hard-throwing lefthander establish school-records of 308 strikeouts and 300.0 innings, Testa became the fourth former Wagner student-athlete to ink a contract with a Major League team over the last three years when he signed with Minnesota as a free agent. Testa has risen to the Double A ranks and was recently moved to the Washington Nationals at the 2010 trade deadline. Litterio also was instrumental in the development of 2007 graduate Joey DiGeronimo. DiGeronimo, who was a 42nd round draft pick of the Baltimore Orioles, finished as the school’s record-holder with 219 hits while also earning First-Team All-NEC honors. The four-year starter batted a team-best .347 while posting team-highs in hits (69), runs (42), doubles (10), triples (6) and stolen bases (29) While at Wagner, Litterio has also coached current pro and former Philadelphia Phillies farmhand Mike McTamney and former Chicago Cubs farmhand Mike Cerminaro. In 2006, McTamney was cited by Baseball America as one of the top-eight prospects in independent baseball. Cerminaro, who graduated as the school’s leader in hits, runs, doubles and RBI, was signed by the Chicago Cubs in 2001. In 2006, Litterio led Wagner to arguably its most exciting season since winning the NEC Championship in 2000. Entering the season’s final weekend, the Seahawks were on the outside looking in needing to sweep all three games from Monmouth. Despite daunting odds the Green & White did just that and in the process knocked the preseason NEC favorite Hawks out of the tournament for the first and only time since 1997, while qualifying for their third-straight trip to the postseason. No. 3 Wagner upset No. 2 Quinnipiac on their way to a third-place finish. In 2005, the Green & White picked up 13 conference wins and made it to their second-straight NEC Tournament. In 2004, Litterio guided Wagner to within one game of the NCAA Tournament and a second-place finish in the conference tournament. Litterio boasts a wealth of big-game experience as he has been to six NCAA Regionals. During his playing career at Rutgers, he helped the Scarlet Knights to bids in 1990, 1991 and 1993. While an assistant coach at Monmouth, the Hawks qualified for the 1998 NCAA Regional in Gainesville, Florida. The following season, while a coach at Winthrop, the Eagles won the Big South Conference Championship. Then in 2000, his first season at Wagner, he led the Seahawks to their only NEC Baseball championship and their first-ever NCAA Regional appearance. Litterio became the first baseball coach in NEC history to lead his team to the NCAA Tournament in his first season. During Litterio’s 11 seasons, the Seahawks have made seven postseason appearances, winning it all in 2000 and finishing second in 2004, after only qualifying once previously in school history. The Cranford, NJ native had a successful collegiate career as an infielder for Rutgers, where he helped lead the team to three NCAA Tournament appearances from 1990-1993. In 1990, his Rutgers team came within one game of the College World Series while recording the most wins (4) in a single NCAA Tournament in school history. A Second-Team All-Atlantic 10 selection at second base after his junior season, recording a .976 fielding percentage for a team that was ranked fourth in the nation in fielding. After serving as a volunteer assistant at his alma mater the following off-season, Litterio coached at Immaculate Conception High School (NJ) in the spring of 1994. Litterio then moved back to the collegiate level, coaching at Monmouth from 1995-1998 where he was responsible for hitting instruction and infield play. From there he moved onto Winthrop for a season before returning to his Northeast roots as the head coach at Wagner. Litterio has gained the reputation of playing anyone, anywhere, anytime as is evident by the tough competition the Seahawks face every year. This year is no different as Wagner will play Winthrop, Kent State, Jacksonville, UNF, UCF, Rutgers, St. John’s and Seton Hall. In addition to claiming the career wins record in 2008, Litterio also holds the top-two marks for single-season victories. The quickest Wagner coach to 50, 75, 100, 150 and 200 wins, he holds a 222-339-2 mark over 11 years. During NEC-play, he is 142-139. Litterio and his wife Michelle reside in Brick, NJ with his children; Frances, Mia and Joe. sure-handed infielder recorded a .976 fielding percentage for a team that was ranked fourth in the nation in fielding.

BILL MALLOY Assistant Coach Fifth Season / Rutgers, 2000 Bill Malloy enters his fifth season as the Wagner Pitching Coach in 2011. In 2009, Malloy oversaw a staff that led the Northeast Conference in ERA (4.74) for the second-straight year while helping guide two pitchers to the professional ranks. Kyle Morrison was drafted and signed with the Washington Nationals while Andrew Huebner inked a free agent contract with the Baltimore Orioles. Additionally, under his direction Matt Watson went 9-2 with a NEC-best 3.64 ERA in collecting NEC Pitcher of the Year honors. In 2008, Malloy helped the Seahawks set a school-record with a NEC-best 3.85 ERA, which also ranked 12th nationally as six pitchers, who threw at least 17 innings posted sub-four ERAs. He also worked with Joe Testa, who was the 2008 NEC Pitcher of the Year and a Minnesota Twins signee. Malloy is also the Athletic Director for the New Brunswick Middle School and owns and operates the “The Baseball Barn” in Lebanon, New Jersey. Prior to his time at Wagner he helped develop four players at the Barn that were drafted by Major League organizations. Prior to coaching, Malloy enjoyed a six-year professional career, rising as high as the Double A level. He played his collegiate ball at Rutgers was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the sixth round of the 1996 Major League Draft. Malloy helped the San Jose Giants claim the 1998 California League Championship and was named the organization’s “Pitcher of the Month” in May and July of that year. He also attended three-straight Major League camps with San Francisco from 1998-2000 before retiring due to an arm injury. Malloy, who is a member of the Immaculata High School Hall of Fame, earned his Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice from Rutgers in 2000 and resides in Hillsborough, NJ with his wife, Stephanie and daughter Maya.

MIKE CONSOLMAGNO Assistant Coach First Season / South Florida, 2009 Mike Consolmagno begins his first season as an assistant coach for the Wagner College Baseball program following a stint with the New Jersey Jackals of the independent Can-Am League. The Staten Island native had an impressive four-year career at the University of South Florida (USF), batting .272 with 106 hits, 100 runs and 37 stolen bases while helping the Bulls to 122 wins, including 57 in the ultra-competitive BIG EAST Conference. Also during his time at USF, the Bulls advanced to four-straight BIG EAST Tournaments and were ranked in Collegiate Baseball’s Top-30 poll while also receiving votes in the USA Today/ESPN National Poll and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Poll. At Wagner College, Consolmagno will be responsible for working with the hitters and outfielders. A 2005 St. Joseph By The Sea alum, Consolmagno assisted his alma mater during the 2010 campaign, aiding with game preparation and practices. He has also worked as a personal instructor at former Wagner coach Jim Agnello’s Baseball Academy on Staten Island since 2006. Consolmango comes from an athletic family as his sister Diana played softball at Wisconsin and is currently the head coach at Hartford while his brother Francis played football at Delaware. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Finance from South Florida in May of 2009 and will be pursuing his Master’s Degree in business and finance at Wagner.

Since head coach Joe Litterio took over in 2000, he has sent eight of his former players on to affiliated baseball with the most notable being 2009 American League Rookie of the Year and two-time AL All Star Andrew Bailey.
