The light display started in 1992 with a nativity scene in front of our home. Since then we’ve been adding figures and lights until every building around the driveway was lit and every part of the yard had a display.

By 1998 we had over sixty figures including a piece with a 5’ swinging bell. In 1999, when we moved the display to Pleasant Ridge, we added a 12’ Rocking Horse and an 18’ tall Jack-inthe-Box. Each year the display grows to continue on the legacy and share the Christmas Holiday with our guests.

Help make the Holiday Merrier for Medicalodge Clients All 93 clients at Medicalodge are diagnosed with a mental illness. 98% of our clients are on state assistance (Medicaid), so they have very little income to purchase items. Without the community’s involvement and support, not all clients will receive a gift. Most of our clients enjoy getting out and shopping. Normally they are unable to do so, due to lack of funds. We felt a “shopping gift” would be a wonderful opportunity for them. This is why your contribution is so very important. Carbon Monoxide (CO) Poisoning WHAT IS CARBON MONOXIDE? A colorless, odorless, tasteless, highly toxic gas that is undetectable to the human senses. It is a by-product of combustion present whenever fuel is burned from: • Kerosene • Wood • Coal • Oil

• Charcoal • Diesel Fuel • Gasoline • Natural or Liquefied • Propane Petroleum (LP) gas • Methane • Tobacco Smoke

Because the gas is odorless, victims may become disoriented before realizing any danger, unable to call for help or exit the premise. CO displaces oxygen in the blood, causing the brain, heart and other tissues, muscles and organs to become oxygen starved, a condition called carboxyhemoglobin or COHb. Energy-efficient homes may be more susceptible to CO poisoning because they do not allow enough air in the home to dissipate normal CO output. 75081264

SYMPTOMS

Symptoms can mimic a common cold, a hangover, food poisoning, depression or flu (without body ache or fever): • Dizziness, ringing in the ears • Blurred vision, burning eyes • Persistent throbbing headaches • Tightness across the forehead • Pale skin • Nausea and vomiting • Confusion, disorientation, loss of muscle control • Fainting, unconsciousness • Sleepiness, never feeling rested • Rapid heart beat or pulse, fluttering or throbbing of the heart, tightening of the chest • Shortness of breath • Chest pain (angina) when exercising • Intoxicated appearance • Sudden death

SEEK HELP

CO poisoning is especially toxic to infants and children; mother and unborn child during pregnancy; the elderly; smokers; people with anemia, coronary, or respiratory problems; and people with immune system diseases. If the family’s (or pet’s) symptoms decrease when away from the house, seek medical treatment or get a carboxyhemoglobin level blood test for CO poisoning. For symptoms of CO poisoning, call 9-1-1, your local fire department, or the local gas company’s emergency number. Seek medical attention. If alarm sounds and there are no symptoms, call a qualified appliance technician. If a CO leak is suspected or you smell gas, call the local gas company immediately.
