Ever Increasing Impact by Kenneth Copeland Our impact for God should always be increasing so that people can see Jesus in us. For that to happen, we must continue to develop and practice the fundamentals of faith.

EVER INCREASING IMPACT by Kenneth Copeland

On the morning of May 4, 2018, I was preparing to preach in Lagos, Nigeria, at a ministers conference on sustaining impact in ministry. As I was praying about the service, I heard The LORD say, Impact should always be increasing.

At the time I was thinking about the ministers at the conference, who were for the most part full-time preachers. But I’ve realized since, that The LORD’s statement didn’t just apply to them. It applies to every born-again child of God. No matter what our natural vocation might be, as believers we’re all called to ministry. We’re all called to have an impact for God on this world and that impact should always be increasing— whether we’re behind a pulpit, at home, in our neighborhood, at school, in the workplace or somewhere else. Having the same impact today that we had five years ago is not enough. God is a God of increase. He intends for our spiritual influence to grow: for us to put more pressure on the forces of darkness with every passing year. For the impact of our ministry upon people’s souls (their minds, wills and emotions) and their physical health to keep growing…day

after day, month after month for the next 30, 40, 50, 60 or 70 years. “But I’m 50 years old,” someone might say. “For me to keep increasing for another 70 years I’d have to live to 120.” Good! As far as God is concerned, that’s a normal lifespan. He said in Genesis 6:3 that man’s “days shall be an hundred and twenty years,” and He never changed that number. It’s His standard of longevity all the way through the Bible. In Exodus 23, where He said, “I will take sickness away from the midst of thee… the number of thy days I will fulfil” (verses 25-26), He was referring to a 120-year lifespan. In Psalm 91:16, when He said about the believer who dwells in the secret place of the Almighty, “With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation,” He was talking about 120 years. God needs us to stay here for a long time. He needs us to keep growing in

our walk with Him and increasing in our spiritual impact. Why? Because, if we do that, by the time we’re 120 years old we’ll be walking in so much of the power and life of God, that people will say about us what they said about Peter and John in Acts 4:13, that surely “they had been with Jesus!” That’s what believing for long life and increasing impact in ministry is all about. It’s not just about us chalking up a lot of birthdays, or people being impressed with us. It’s about them being impressed with Jesus. It’s about us being vessels through which God can increasingly touch people’s lives and manifest the light of His kingdom in this sin-darkened world. One of the people in the Bible we can look to as an example of this is Daniel. An Old Testament Jew, he was taken captive as a teenager to Babylon and conscripted into the service of King Nebuchadnezzar. He started out as simply a servant, but he kept being promoted from one government position to another. He shone so

brightly in that secular, ungodly environment that eventually he became so highly respected that during the reign of King Darius: “It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom; and over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage. Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm” (Daniel 6:1-3). Think about that! Daniel went from being a servant in the palace to essentially being the prime minister. His influence grew until it affected the entire nation. Why did it happen? What caused him to be preferred above others? An excellent spirit was found in him. Mastering the Fundamentals If Daniel could operate with that kind of excellence and have that much impact under the Old Covenant, think what we can do as New Covenant believers! We’ve been born again in the image of Jesus, about whom God said “from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” We’re partakers of His “excellent ministry.” We’ve been made one with Him and inherited His most “excellent name.” (See 2 Peter 1:17; Hebrews 8:6, 1:4.) By our very nature in Christ, we’re created to excel! To excel means “to go to the highest place or to prosper.” It’s what God was talking to me about that day in Lagos. He was saying that, like Daniel, we’re to operate with such excellence that in our walk with Him and our ministry to other people, we continually advance. “But Brother Copeland, how exactly can I make sure I do that? What practical steps can I take to make sure I keep moving forward, so that I don’t wake up in five or 10 years and find that I’m still in the same place I am now?” For one thing, you can continue to develop yourself in the basics of faith. Faith is the secret to spiritual success! No matter how much you study it, there’s always more to learn; and whatever you learn about it is always under attack by the thieving devil.

So, to maintain your current level of faith and keep advancing, you must keep feeding on what the Bible says about it. You must continually meditate on and develop your mastery of faith’s fundamental principles. To understand why this is, think about the last time you watched a sports championship of some kind on TV. What were you seeing? You were seeing athletes who’d mastered the fundamentals. They didn’t get to be the best in the world at their sport by coming up with some strange new way to play it. They excelled by mastering the basics of the game. The same holds true for believers. We develop into the champions God created us to be by continually focusing on, working and living the basic simple truths of faith. “You just say that because you’re a faith preacher.” No, I say it because the Bible confirms time and again that faith is foundational to our walk with God.

By our very nature in Christ, we’re created to excel!

(2 Corinthians 4:6-7). I emphasized the word Christ there to remind you it isn’t Jesus’ last name. It’s the Greek word for anointing, that in this context refers to the power and glory of God, that came upon Jesus when He was baptized in the Holy Spirit. Jesus Himself said, that Holy Spirit Anointing was what enabled Him to minister with divine power. Rather than attributing His excellence in ministry to the fact that He is the Son of God, He declared, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath anointed me…” (Luke 4:18). Jesus was the Son of God His entire earthly life. He always had the Holy Spirit living in Him. Yet, He never worked a single miracle until at 30 years old He received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, and God’s Spirit came upon Him. That’s when He was anointed for ministry and began to do the supernatural works of God. When we, as believers, receive the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, the same thing happens to us. The Spirit who came upon Jesus comes upon us and anoints us to do His works. In addition to having the greatness of God within us because of the new birth, His greatness comes upon us to empower us for supernatural ministry. One way we develop that empowerment is by praying in other tongues. Praying in tongues is the gateway to the supernatural! The more you do it, the more your working knowledge of God’s supernatural power and glory increases. The more that working knowledge increases, the more the excellency of His power will manifest in your life. “Well,” someone might say, “since I’m not a preacher, I don’t really think praying in tongues is all that necessary for me.” Not necessary? Praying in tongues enables you to communicate with God supernaturally.

It enables you to speak mysteries to Him and pray beyond your understanding according to His perfect will (1 Corinthians 14:2; Romans 8:26-27). It edifies you and builds you up on your most holy faith ( Jude 1:20). Every one of those things is necessary if you want to keep increasing your spiritual impact. So why not avail yourself of them? If you haven’t already done it, why not ask The LORD right now to baptize you with His Spirit and start speaking in tongues by faith? (See Acts 2:4, 10:45, 19:6.) I’ve been praying in tongues for more than 50 years now, and I recommend you do it every day. Not only in your devotional times with The LORD but at every opportunity. Pray in tongues in the shower and when you’re driving to work. Pray in tongues while you’re cooking dinner and when you’re getting ready for bed. If you’ll do that in addition to meditating on The WORD and practicing the fundamentals of faith, you’ll walk increasingly in God’s Anointing. As a Holy Spirit-baptized believer that anointing belongs to you. It’s there to enable you to release God’s burden-removing, yokedestroying power to every person to whom you witness. Every time you share the gospel with someone, the Anointing of God’s glory and excellent power is there. So, determine to develop in it. Learn how to cooperate with it and not transgress it, and the same Anointing of the Holy Spirit that changed people’s lives through the ministry of Jesus will change people’s lives through you too. under His Anointing is the most precious thing in life there is. As the Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 3: “I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness… but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith” (verses 8-9). Paul used strong language there! He compared having faith in anything other than the Anointed One and His Anointing to having faith in dung. He said that when it comes to excellence in ministry, putting trust in money is like trusting in dung. Relying on natural human abilities is like relying on dung. Depending on a superior education or academic achievements is like depending on dung. We don’t want to waste our lives on dung! We want to invest them in going after the excellence found in the knowledge of The LORD Jesus and His Anointing! We want to say, as Paul did: “This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (verses 13-14). This is a third key to increasing your spiritual impact! Forget those things which are behind. Stop thinking about how much you fouled up yesterday. Yesterday is dead and gone, so repent of whatever you did wrong, forget it, and press forward toward the calling of the high prize of God. Press to grow in His Anointing. Press to stay under it, not only for your own benefit and for the benefit of your family, but because someone sick is coming your way. Someone who’s been oppressed by the devil is coming. Someone who needs a word from God or a miracle is coming, and to receive it they’ll need you to minister to them the excellency of the supernatural power of God. So be ready for them! Keep increasing in faith and in the anointing every day…week after week…year after year. Keep on increasing your impact for the kingdom of God decade after decade until, at 120 years old when you’ve finished your course, you hear Jesus say, “Well done, faithful servant. Come on home!”

Recently, our KCM Africa office

reached out to render aid to 100 families in two informal settlements in Krugersdorp, South Africa. Each of these families, all living below the poverty line and without running water or electricity, received a food hamper filled with enough food to see them through the Christmas season. If you are a Partner with KCM, you were part of this outreach because you share in everything we do—every soul that is saved, every person who is healed, every person whose life is touched. Remembering Reinhard Bonnke:

Populated Heaven! He Plundered Hell and

He was only 10 years old, yet already he knew what he wanted to do with his life. While many of his friends dreamed of becoming firemen, policemen, doctors and the like, this small, young German boy had but one burning ambition: “I want to be a missionary to Africa!”

Reinhard Bonnke was determined, and nothing could coax him from his chosen path.

At first, many were skeptical of his seemingly overnight decision. But even through their misgivings, no one could deny the lad’s obvious dedication to his call. His desire to serve God in Africa became so overwhelming, that a nickname was coined for him among his friends. They called him “The Little Missionary.” A Confirmation Many years later, in February 1984, in Soweto, South Africa, Kenneth and Gloria Copeland sat in a small trailer, across from a now older Bonnke, and his wife, Annie.

It was the first time they’d met the intense young evangelist, and suddenly the spirit of prophecy came upon Brother Copeland. First, Kenneth prophesied that Bonnke would one day preach to millions, a prophecy that was fulfilled in November 2000 when, during a six-day crusade Bonnke held in Lagos, Nigeria, 6 million people registered to hear the gospel preached. On the final night of the meeting, 1,093,475 people received salvation! But when they shook hands to leave, the Lord spoke yet another word to Reinhard through Brother Copeland. He said, Reinhard, stay prepared. There is coming an hour when I’m going to send you back to Germany to do some things because I

documented decisions made for Jesus Christ through his missionary work in Africa and other parts of the world.

A young Reinhard (center) preaching

am going to take that Berlin Wall down and I’m going to do it miraculously and I want you to be ready with the gospel when I do. Five years later, the Lord made that prophecy about the Berlin Wall public when, on Sunday morning, June 4, 1989, Brother Copeland stood before the congregation of Eagle Mountain International Church and prophesied: The Berlin Wall will come down. Five months later, on Nov. 9, 1989, it did! “No one was allowed to preach openly in Eastern Europe one day, and suddenly all of Europe was open the next,” Bonnke would later recall during an interview with the Believer’s Voice of Victory magazine. “When our God decides it’s time for change, the impossible melts before Him like butter on a griddle.” Change is indeed what happened in the years that followed, as evangelist Reinhard Bonnke, who went home to be with the Lord last December, eventually saw nearly 80 million Gloria and Kenneth with Reinhard

In 2000, Bonnke stood before a supernatural outpouring of 1.3 million people as they shouted, “I claim my flame in Jesus’ Name!” It was the largest gathering ever recorded in the history of the meetings held by Christ for all Nations, a global evangelistic association he founded in 1974, with a heart for the continent of Africa. But more was yet to come—the fulfillment of a divine connection made 16 years earlier, when Brother Copeland prophesied to him. Referring to that prophecy, Bonnke recalled that Brother Copeland had said to him: The day will come when you’ll see a million people saved in one service. “In those days, it didn’t look like that could happen,” Bonnke said. “We had the world’s biggest tent, but it could only hold 34,000.” But on Nov. 12, 2000, the final night of the Lagos crusade, that prophecy was fulfilled. “When I read the crusade statistics, tears flowed from my eyes,” Bonnke said. That meeting also marked Bonnke’s return to Nigeria after a nine-year ban following a Muslim riot that killed hundreds of people. Angry at the devil for hindering God’s plan in Nigeria, Bonnke made a faith demand to receive a 900% return in souls for everything the devil stole during those nine years. “At first we averaged 100,000 people coming for salvation each week,” Bonnke said. “Later the weekly average jumped to a million!” Populating Heaven From Cape Town in South Africa, to Cairo and around the world, Reinhard Bonnke and his Christ for all Nations evangelistic team have journeyed hundreds of thousands of miles in an effort to spread the message of God. And for much of that time, Kenneth Copeland Ministries has played a major role in assisting, both through prayer and by helping to finance

Reflecting recently on his personal and ministry relationship with Bonnke, Brother Copeland said:

the mass evangelism campaigns put on by Bonnke through Christ for all Nations. In the early years, Bonnke held meetings in a tent that accommodated just 800 people. But, as attendance steadily increased, larger and larger tents had to be purchased, until finally, in 1984, he commissioned the construction of the world’s largest mobile structure—a tent capable of seating 34,000 people! To transport this mountain of canvas and steel required the use of 19 semitrucks which presented a financial dilemma for Bonnke, who turned to his Christian colleagues around the world. Among the religious organizations that came to Bonnke’s aid was KCM, which financed the purchase of two of the needed semitrucks. Today, KCM continues to share in the last-days harvests by supporting the mass evangelism campaigns conducted by Christ for all Nations, now under the leadership of Daniel Kolenda. A modern-day missionary evangelist, Kolenda has led more than 21 million people to Christ faceto-face through massive open-air evangelistic campaigns in some of the most dangerous, difficult and remote locations on earth. “Years ago,” Reinhard recalled during an interview, “the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart, Reinhard, you are going to plunder hell and populate heaven for Calvary’s sake.” Ever since, Bonnke has done exactly that.

Since the mid-1980s, KCM has continued to support evangelism campaigns conducted by Christ for all Nations.

“The only time I ever preached on Reinhard’s platform, he said, ‘I want you to give an invitation for people to come receive the Holy Spirit.’ This was a long time before there were huge crowds. I never had the privilege of seeing personally one of those large, huge crowds like that…. He had just finished preaching about the Holy Spirit, and I gave this simple little invitation. I said to the crowd, ‘If you would like to come receive the Spirit of God, speaking with other tongues, come on up to the platform.’ “I wasn’t expecting a stampede! Nine thousand people rushed that platform that night! “I’m so excited that he’s in the arms of Jesus, but I miss him already. “I know a large part of the prosperity; the financial prosperity and the tremendous financial growth of Kenneth Copeland Ministries was because I had the honor of being partners with the greatest soul winner of our time, and I’m thrilled. Reinhard’s homegoing is not the end. It’s just the beginning…Reinhard is not a was, he still is. He just moved. He just left town. Left his body here for a few days and moved to heaven.”

LOST AND FOUND

I never gave up praying for some items I had lost years ago. I had asked you to pray that they be found, then breakthrough! I found the missing items in a rolled-up blanket. Thanks be to God for answering your prayers!

The Laws of Prosperity Opened Her Eyes I have known poverty, struggle, strife for over 20 years, unable to leave it behind. I have remained faithful to God, and did not understand why this kept happening. When you offered your free books, I decided to see what you had to say. I got The Laws of Prosperity, and I have received its words in faith. Wow! Wow! and Wow! It has filled in the missing pieces. I attend church regularly, yet hunger and thirst for God’s righteousness. Jesus is my righteousness. My eyes have been opened as well as my understanding. Thank you so much! Of course, I thank Father God and His Spirit all the time. A.S. | Texas

Increased Commissions I know this is the first of many testimonies I will have from VICTORYthon™ 2019! It was discovered today that I was not paid correctly for an upgrade to an account that I sold back in May. Within the next few weeks, I will be receiving six months of back commissions for the account! I’m told to expect a significant amount—around $1500. Moving forward I will see about a $300 increase in commissions monthly from that same account! Praise the Lord! He is good and His mercy endures forever! More testimonies are coming, some are already in the works. Love you all so much! J.D. | Buford, Ga.

‘My Baby Girl Was Born’

Last year, I had a miscarriage, and just the day before, I had read in the BVOV magazine about a lady God blessed with a baby after several miscarriages. It was a great testimony and I sent it to some friends who were trusting God for babies. Little did I know God was preparing me for what was coming next, and that I would be victorious through the Word. After I miscarried, I continued to stand on the Word. I got pregnant again and the same thing happened a few months later. I continued to declare the Word. I also called the prayer line and they agreed with me for a testimony. While waiting for my miracle, the Lord gave me the name, so my family and friends began declaring that name regardless of any negative symptoms. BVOV was a source of encouragement as the programs I listened to strengthened my faith. By September, I was pregnant again. The pregnancy was easy and no morning sickness. To God be the glory! On Wednesday, May 1, 2019, my baby girl was born. She is absolutely perfect. O.A. | England

Tithing Opens the Door

Your message about tithing is so very true. It breaks the hold that money can have when those greedy temptations rise in my flesh. It takes the money out of my hand and sends it where it belongs— into God’s hands. I remember years ago when I was living in Massachusetts, the Holy Spirit

and I had a discussion about this. When George said to tithe on our gross income, that is exactly what the Holy Spirit said to me. I remember saying, “on the net,” and He said, “on the gross,” so I have tithed on the gross ever since. J.A. | Hobe Sound, Fla.

Debt Free in Eight Months In January 2019 I had over $21,000 in debt. I heard Kenneth say, “Even if you can only pay $1 toward getting yourself out of debt, do it.” I determined that I could put $10 each month toward getting my debt paid. Praise God! On Aug. 8, 2019, I became debt free. What a miracle!

Two Loans Paid Off ! Since giving our first donation during the VICTORYthon, we have paid off two loans. We are believing for total debt freedom and know that God wants us free faster than we want it. Please agree that our remaining debts will be exponentially paid in full, erased or canceled. stood in the checkout line at Walmart in Johnson City, Tenn., watching as the clerk scanned her groceries. Like any 53-yearold woman buying groceries, she looked normal. But nothing felt right. Something was wrong. Becky couldn’t find her place. It was as though she didn’t know where to take her next step. Middle-aged, out of work, and positive she’d never made the impact for God’s kingdom that she should have, it seemed all she had were questions: Was God putting her out to pasture? Had she failed some life test? What was she missing? Loading her groceries into the car, Becky drove home on autopilot. She’d been raised in a Catholic family with five children. In the early 1970s, when the Charismatic renewal had swept through the Catholic Church, both of her parents had been born again and filled with the Holy Spirit. Her father had been one of the businessmen who founded a chapter of the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Association. At age 14, Becky had given her heart to the Lord while attending a crusade led by David

Wilkerson. Not long afterward, she sensed the call of God on her life. After graduating from high school, she’d moved to Tulsa, Okla., to attend Rhema Bible Training Center. It was at Rhema that she was first introduced to Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, who spoke often at camp meetings, special services on campus, Winter Bible Seminars and prayer seminars. After graduating from Rhema, Becky felt led to return to her home church, Cornerstone, in Johnson City. As a full-time staff member, she’d served there for 24 years doing pastoral care, children’s and college ministry, and administration. During those years, she had also married Jonathan Haas and raised two wonderful sons. Although she continued to volunteer at Cornerstone, in 2004 Becky had resigned her

Anxiety Had to Go!

I had been experiencing what I believe to be a bad anxiety attack. I’ve been dealing with them for a while but not quite like this: heart palpitations and feeling like I can’t take a deep breath; tight and sore in my neck and shoulders. I had been reading through healing scriptures for a while, then decided to watch Healing School on YouTube®, from the 2013 Great Lakes Victory Campaign. The message was titled “In Jesus, Everything Has a Cure.”

better. My heart rate was going back to normal and I was breathing easier. I took authority and spoke to my body as Gloria said to do. While the testimonies were being given, I was so much better I even realized my neck, back and shoulders were not sore anymore. I could turn my head with ease, and it didn’t hurt much at all. I am so thankful for Healing School and that our Lord and Savior, Jesus, is always there. Hallelujah. Glory to God.

As I watched, I began to feel

If you do not know Jesus as your Savior and Lord, simply pray the following prayer in faith, and Jesus will be your Lord! Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. Your Word says, “Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved” and “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Acts 2:21; Romans 10:9). You said my salvation would be the result of Your Holy Spirit giving me new birth by coming to live in me (John 3:5-6, 15-16; Romans 8:9-11) and that if I would ask, You would fill me with Your Spirit and give me the ability to speak with other tongues (Luke 11:13; Acts 2:4). I take You at Your Word. I confess that Jesus is Lord. And I believe in my heart that You raised Him from the dead. Thank You for coming into my heart, for giving me Your Holy Spirit as You have promised, and for being Lord over my life. Amen.

staff position to pursue itinerate ministry. She’d worked a secular job until the grant that supported it was not renewed. Then in 2012, she was unemployed with nothing on the horizon. After eight months not being able to find a job, Becky was praying one day, when she heard herself say what she still considers one of the strangest things: “Lord,” she prayed, “whatever the challenges in my city, state and nation, let the solutions flow through me.” Back to the Basics “I decided that until I knew what God had for me next, I would devote myself to Bible study and prayer,” Becky recalls. “For many years, I’d been a Partner with KCM and attended their meetings. Now out of work, I began watching the BVOV broadcast and found the series that Pastor George Pearsons and Gloria Copeland taught in 2010, on prosperity and increase. One day Pastor George encouraged everyone watching to download the notes, so I did. From the BVOV notes, Becky began to study Deuteronomy 28. “I learned in greater detail about THE BLESSING of Abraham, and how God wanted me to be the head and not the tail—a person of great influence, and that He would bless whatever I set my hand to do,” she recalls. “Instead of giving in to the images of failure that the enemy bombarded me with, I renewed my thinking to the fact that God wanted me to be a person of influence. “I learned that my life wasn’t subject to the times in which I lived, whether good or bad. By trusting in God, I would flourish even in times of famine.” Included in Becky’s binder of broadcast notes was a list of every scripture related to the favor of God from the Amplified Bible. Becky printed them out and began to meditate daily on all 300 of them, along with the notes she had taken from the TV broadcasts. In the process, she said, her discouragement turned into an expectation that something wonderful was ahead for her. During this time, Becky also came across materials by Dr. Ed Silvoso on marketplace ministry. She’d never considered that the ministry God had for her might be outside the walls of the

church. But as she studied the four Gospels, Becky made a startling discovery. To her surprise, she said, she found that of the 132 public appearances Jesus made, 122 of them were in the marketplace. Of the 52 parables Jesus told, 45 of them had a workplace context. Of the 40 miracles recorded in the book of Acts, 39 took place in the marketplace. In addition, 54% of Jesus’ recorded teachings centered on daily life experiences. “This changed my thinking about ministry that happened inside the church walls and the ministry that took place outside the church walls,” Becky says. “If you look at the New Testament model, most ministry took place in the marketplace. It occurred to me that we should be as excited about going to work on Monday as we are about going to church on Sunday. “As a believer, I knew I had eternal life. However, the more I studied the more I realized that I have the life of the Eternal inside of me. I realized that I was like a packet of yeast. When I’m added to any mix, it will rise! That’s when I began to pray, ‘Lord, whatever the challenges in my city, state and nation, let the solutions flow through me.’ “I was praying that by faith. I didn’t even know what the problems were—much less the solutions.” A New Call In October 2012, Becky’s former boss called to say she had heard of a job opening at the Johnson City Police Department. They were seeking a director over a grant-funded position to reduce crime. She urged Becky to check it out. Becky found the listing and applied. After a rigorous interviewing process, in December 2012 she was hired as director over the $800,000 Targeted Community Crime Reduction Project—a program aimed at reducing drugrelated and violent crime in the two neighborhoods with the highest crime rates. One was a residential neighborhood made up of many elderly people. The other was a downtown neighborhood. The project was centered on four pillars for addressing crime: prevention, law enforcement, neighborhood restoration and reducing recidivism. One of my jobs is to reduce recidivism, Becky thought. It might help if I knew what that word meant. Looking up recidivism, Becky learned the word meant “the rate at which discharged prisoners returned to jail.” The recidivism rate for Tennessee was between 48%-50%.

“I believe I’ve stepped into the primary call of God on my life. It wouldn’t have happened apart from KCM.” Becky had her work cut out for her. Or rather, God did. “I took this job with no former criminal justice experience,” Becky admits. “My only qualification was having spent months building an image on the inside of me from God’s Word. I knew I had THE BLESSING upon my life. I also knew that He would bless whatever I set my hands to do. “In John 5:19, Jesus said that He could do nothing except what His Father showed Him. That was my road map. Each time I was faced with a problem, I asked Father to show me what steps to take. I had to receive them by faith, believing that the Greater One who lived in me would reveal His witty ideas.” One of the first things Becky did was form a faithbased leaders’ meeting at the police station, where faith leaders from various denominations learned about the needs of schools, neighborhoods, foster care, reentry, homelessness and more. Then, as a result of what they learned, church leaders found out exactly how to involve their congregations. During a time when tensions surrounding the police were high, for instance, they formed an Adopt-a-Cop chapter. More than 1400 community members signed up to pray daily for the officers. Becky also had the idea to study the times of day when most crimes occurred. “I found that in the downtown area, the peak time for crime was 2-4 a.m.,” she says. “When I shared this with the sergeant in charge of scheduling, he said that

the downtown shift ended at 2 in the morning. He scheduled extra patrols for the next two hours. In six months, 64 arrests had been made during those times. Probation vs. Jail “To reduce recidivism, I formed a group which included judges, probation and parole administrators, mental health professionals and criminal justice experts to decide what intervention was needed,” says Becky. “After seeing a video of a program used in Georgia, we decided to do something similar and established what was called the Day Reporting Center. It provided a rehabilitative probation program instead of jail for felony offenders with addictions, and had three phases which lasted 12 to 15 months. The program included education designed to address addiction, relapse prevention, life and job skills. It was the first probation program of its kind in Tennessee. “After we developed the blueprint, I realized I only had money to pay for a program manager, a therapist, building rent and educational materials. We also needed nine more facilitators to run it each week. Once again, I turned to God for the answers. I went to our community to talk about the program and found agencies that agreed to provide educational programs on a weekly basis and not charge us anything. “Still, we needed someone with job-skill training to help the reentry population. I learned that Goodwill® Industries was a leader in this field. I made an appointment with the CEO of our local Goodwill. He didn’t have what we needed, but he offered to B VOV :

create a full-time position for us. I nearly wept. That was nothing but God’s favor.” Before the grant that funded Becky’s job ended in 2016, she had to find funding for all the programs. The most expensive was the Day Reporting Center, which cost $130,000 a year to operate. A cost benefit study revealed that the program cost $12 a day, compared to the $74 a day it cost to jail a prisoner. They also found that for those graduating from the program, the recidivism rate dropped from 48%-50% down to 16%-22%. When this information was presented to the commissioner of the state department of corrections, he agreed to take over the program, Becky said. Since 2016, they have replicated the program across the state, with plans to increase even further.

Becky’s next task at the police department was writing a grant to obtain funding for a program to address domestic and sexual violence. During this time, she learned of landmark research that revealed childhood abuse or neglect can derail proper brain development leading to future health and life disparities. These adverse childhood experiences cause individuals to fall prey to unhealthy coping skills of drugs, alcohol, eating disorders, sexual promiscuity or selfharm, she said. How do you learn to process life if your parents were heroin addicts? In three years, Becky and a Christian psychology professor, trained over 4,000 area professionals in trauma-informed care. As a result, these professionals implemented new programming and formed a traumainformed system of care. In 2018, a regional Blessing and Influence health care system asked Becky to work In 2014, the program Becky directed for them. FOCUS There will never be a time in your life when Satan will have compassion on you. He’ll never think, Man, I’ve really put her through a lot. I’m going to back off a little. He has one motive—and that’s to steal, kill and destroy your life (John 10:10). I have to remind myself of that all the time. Sometimes I wish I could rely on my mom’s and dad’s faith to get me through trouble, but I’ve had to learn that others can’t fight my battles for me. I’ve learned this battle exists because of three simple truths. First, God has a custom-designed assignment for your life. He has a customdesigned assignment to fit your individual strengths, interests and personality.

3_20 terri F.indd 22

1/16/20 12:10 PM

When my dad turned the operations of Jerry Savelle Ministries International over to me, I thought he had missed God. I was two seconds away from telling him that I didn’t want the position because I was filled with so much shame and guilt from the way I had once lived my life. I thought, I don’t deserve this. But that morning I went for a walk and saw a vision of myself standing at the foot of the Cross. The Lord showed me that Jesus’ blood had washed all my sins away. Then, in that vision, He handed me a clipboard and said, This is an assignment for your life. He also handed me some keys and said, And these are the keys to the kingdom of heaven to fulfill that assignment. I believe you have a clipboard that is custom-designed for your life, too. It’s an assignment God has handpicked for you and only you to fulfill during your time on earth. Second, Satan has a custom-designed assignment for your life, designed to appeal to your greatest weaknesses and vulnerabilities. It’s not haphazard. It’s well-thought-out. There’s a method to his madness and he has a twisted assignment for your life that he wants you to fulfill. This means war. Finally, you need a custom-designed plan to keep you focused on God’s assignment. If you fail to have a plan for your life, then you’re just planning to fail. God has given you an assignment—a charge to do something. Like the CEO of a company, God has delegated this assignment to you and He’s expecting you to fulfill it during your time on earth (Psalm 39:4). Satan knows your time is limited, and he is doing everything in his power to distract you and get you to lose focus. F-O-C-U-S Mike Murdock says, “The only reason

men fail is broken focus.” That’s why Satan creates distractions for us—to get us to lose our focus. To help you keep yours, God has given me an acronym based on the word focus: F-O-C-U-S. Fix Your Fence The “F” in F-O-C-U-S stands for “Fix your fence.” I recently read a story about a family who raised miniature horses. Their house was right next to a small wildlife park. One day they were walking on their property and noticed there was a weak spot in their fence. Some of the slats were down and some of the nails were missing. But they thought, Oh, it’s no big deal. They had planned to fix the fence when they had extra money, but the money never came. Then one day the wife looked out her kitchen window and a lion from the wildlife park was devouring her favorite miniature horse! He had come right through the weak spot in the fence. Isn’t that just how the devil works? He finds a weak spot in your life, an area that you keep putting off, an area where you think, Nothing that bad has happened yet. I’ll deal with it later. I don’t really know how to fix that anyway. Then one day you look up and he’s devouring everything precious to you. He’s devouring your marriage, your family, your finances, your health, your career. He latches onto a weakness and uses it as an open door. “Fix your fence” means you must identify your weaknesses and deal with them. It means not playing with what tempts you—at the risk of opening a door the devil will barge through. Obituary We need to look away from what distracts us—but we also have to look to a vision. Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no

B VOV :

1/16/20 12:10 PM

“God has an assignment that ONLY YOU can fulfill.” vision, the people perish.” That’s serious. If you don’t have a vision, you will die. “O” stands for “Obituary.” One year in high school, as my friends and I were celebrating homecoming week— decorating and cruising the town—we suddenly received word that one of the guys we went to school with fell out of a truck and died. It was horrible—I had just seen him moments before, yelling, screaming and laughing with all of us. The next day, homecoming day, the school had no life whatsoever. Everyone had their heads down. We wore our uniforms and ribbons, but there was no school spirit. No one knew what to say. When English class began, our teacher asked us to pull out a piece of paper and put our full name at the top. So I wrote, “Terri Lynn Savelle.” She said, “Now I want you to write your birthdate.” I did. “Now, I want you to write last night’s date right under that,” she instructed. Then, “Now, I want you to write your own obituary.” At first, we thought it was kind of creepy. But she said, “Think about it. If your life had ended last night, what would you want people to say about you? How would they describe

your personality? Your character? What do you want to be known for? What do you want to accomplish in your life? What kind of contributions do you want to make?” She said, “Don’t write what people would say right now. I want you to write what you want people to say when your life is over.” At the end of class, when we handed our papers in, she said, “Class, I want you to know that you have not just written your obituary. You have just written your dreams.” And she added, “Now, go live them.” You need to write your own obituary—your God-given dreams. It will become your life’s mission statement, the way you want to be remembered. It will be a guideline to live by. Then when temptation comes, all you have to do is get out your piece of paper and ask, “Does this line up with what I want to fulfill during my time period on earth?” Sit down at your computer or with your journal and write your obituary—your Godgiven dreams, your life’s mission statement— today. Chop It Into Daily Visions How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. How do you go after a big dream? One day at a time. “C” is for “Chopping it up into daily visions.” Any way you look at it, your future is hidden in your daily routine. Success is not one big event that happens in your life. It’s a result of daily disciplines that lead you into God’s perfect will. You see that with my dad, Brother Kenneth Copeland, and other strong men and women of faith. It wasn’t one big event that caused them to be where they are today. The Copelands still listen to the Word, still speak the Word, still guard their mouths, still guard their hearts, still do all those things that got them where

they are. Daily habits are what lead us into God’s plan. I am convinced you have to have daily doses of the Word of God in order to stay focused on your assignment. I’ve had enough experience to know that you can’t just fulfill God’s assignment on your own. You have to have a plan, and part of that plan is hearing the Word every single day until it becomes a part of your life—like brushing your teeth. You wouldn’t skip a day brushing your teeth. You shouldn’t skip time with the Word either. There have been so many times that I’ve put on the Word for even just 10 minutes in the morning before my jog or while driving to get my daily burrito—and during that 10 minutes I received exactly what I needed for that day. It’s amazing what 10 minutes of the Word can do for your focus. We have to do things like this on purpose to stay focused. Start a habit of hearing the Word every day. Put a CD player on your bathroom vanity along with a big note that says, “PUSH PLAY.” It will keep you focused. Soon, you’ll begin to think differently, act differently and see things differently. Things that used to tempt you will now be easily seen as traps—because God’s Word brings light and overcomes darkness every time.

Do What God’s Telling YoU to Do “U” need to “Do what God’s telling you to do.” You might read an article like this and get excited and think, I’m going to do that! I’m going to write my mission statement. I’m going to start listening to the Word every day. I’m going to make an investment in my life. But once you start, it’s easy to compare yourself to others—others who aren’t doing anything—and get lax like them. It’s easy to relax, to compromise.

Terri Savelle Foy is founder of an international Christian ministry (see terri.com), an author, conference speaker and success coach to thousands of people all over the world. Terri is a cheerleader of dreams and is convinced that “if you can dream it, God can do it.”

Do what God is telling you to do, because at the end of day, the only person you’re going to answer to the Lord for is you. When you stand before God, you’re only going to give an account for your life. It’s time to rise above the status quo. Average people never make the history books. We have to be willing to do more than others if we want God’s best. There’s an old saying: “Average is as close to the bottom as it is the top.” Don’t settle for being an average Christian, pastor, businessperson, spouse, parent or anything else. Start at the Top Again Lastly, “S” stands for “Start at the top again.” In other words, all the things you know to do, you have to keep on doing. Joyce Meyer once asked a man who had been in ministry more than 40 years, “If you could tell me one thing that would help me stay focused in my life and ministry, to not give in to temptation, what would it be?” He thought for a minute, then said, “Whatever you did to get to where you are— don’t stop doing it.” Once you get where you want to go, ask yourself what got you there. Hearing the Word. Speaking the Word. Having daily disciplines in your life that you never stop. That’s what will make all the difference. That’s what you must never stop doing. Start at the top and do it again.

Keeping Your Focus We all know people who never seem to advance. Years go by and nothing changes in their lives. They’re doing the same thing, dealing with the same situations, still in relationships they shouldn’t be in, still battling the same addictions. That’s not God’s best for our lives. God has an assignment that only you can fulfill. He’s given you an allotted time on earth to do what only you can do, but you have to stay focused. God wants you to fight your own battles and win. Fix your fences. Write your “obituary” and keep that mission statement in front of you. Listen to the Word daily. Don’t compare yourself to others. Keep doing what makes you successful. Then you will accomplish your God-given assignment. B VOV :

There’s nothing more wonderful than living by faith in the Word of God. REAL BIBLE FAITH IS UNDEFEATABLE.

Even when seemingly impossible situations loom large in front of us and everyone thinks, Man, that person has had it, if we’ll maintain a spirit of faith we can march right through those situations in triumph.

1

POINTS TO GET YOU THERE:

Faith brings into the natural realm what God has already established in the spiritual realm. Heb. 11:1

We can look right past them and rejoice knowing, “This is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith” 1 John 5:4). Don’t ever be insulted when people wrinkle their nose and refer to you as “one of those faith people.” Whether they mean it to be or not, that’s a compliment! If you weren’t a faith person, God wouldn’t be pleased. For Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without faith it is impossible to please [God].” Faith is what opens the door for you to receive everything God has provided for you in Christ Jesus—from the new birth, to healing, to prosperity. The more you grow in faith, the more victory you can walk in because faith is what connects you with THE BLESSING of God and makes you a winner in every area of life. “Well,” someone might say, “I consider myself a person of faith and it certainly hasn’t made me much of a winner.” Then maybe you’re not totally clear about what worldovercoming faith actually is. It’s not just a theological doctrine. It’s not just going to church or agreeing in general with the basic tenets of Christianity. Faith is believing what God said in His written Word and believing it enough to live on it— right now. As Hebrews 11:1 says: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” The now aspect of faith is important—and it’s where a lot of Christians miss it. They like talking about the great

starts with God who has sent His Word to us like rain out of heaven. It continues with us receiving that Word into our hearts where it sprouts and bears fruit. Then, as we return the Word to God by speaking it out by faith, the Word accomplishes what He sent it to do, and the cycle is complete. This is one of the great BLESSINGS of being a believer. You have a born-again heart that’s made to be a depository for God’s Word. When you put His Word into your heart, the creative power of that Word-seed is released within you and “faith cometh” (Romans 10:17). Then you give expression to that faith with your mouth, it becomes substance, and the Word becomes a manifest reality in this natural world. Your whole life depends on what you put in your heart! The degree to which you keep your heart full of the Word determines whether you’ll walk in victory or defeat, whether you’ll enjoy days of heaven on earth or days that are something else entirely. That’s why God said in Proverbs 4:20-23: “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”

and bring substance to the financial abundance God has provided for you in Christ Jesus. If you would seek first God’s kingdom, His ways of doing and being right, Jesus said, “all these things” would be added to you (Matthew 6:33). What were the “all things” Jesus was talking about when He said that? He was talking about food and clothing and material resources! He was saying, “Seek Me first, and I’ll see to it that naturally and financially you’re abundantly supplied.” Listen, even if it means changing careers, you’ve got to have time for God! You must take time to sow His Word into your heart, because

“As you believe, speak and do what He says, the kingdom of God on the inside of you starts coming out and changing the elements around you.”

Make Time for the Word You can’t afford to let yourself get so busy you don’t have time to spend in the Word. If you don’t have time for the Word, you don’t have time for faith, and without faith this world isn’t fit to live in! You don’t want to spend your life putting up with all the devil’s trash and being subject to all the trouble he’s causing on this planet. You want to live as a world-overcomer. So, if you haven’t already, make a quality decision right now that you’re going to do whatever it takes to keep your heart full of the Word. Put it first place in your life, even if it means changing your lifestyle. “But Gloria, you don’t understand. I have to work three jobs just to make ends meet. I literally can’t fit the Word into my schedule.” That’s the reason you’re having to work three jobs. If you planned your schedule around the Word, your faith for prosperity could reach out B VOV :

what you sow is what you reap. It’s spiritual law. If you sow the Word, you’ll reap faith. If you don’t, you won’t.

Getting the Title Deed I can tell you from experience, when your Word crop comes up and faith goes off in you, it changes everything! Even before you see anything change in the natural, suddenly what you’re believing for will be absolutely real to you. You might have been standing on the Word about something for a while, just going along, confessing you believe you receive, and thinking about it, and all at once faith will go off in you and you’ll know that thing is yours. It will be like you’re holding the title deed to it. All at once, faith will enable you to perceive as real fact what is not yet revealed to the senses. (See Hebrews 11:1, Amplified Bible, Classic Edition.) That’s what happened to Ken and me years ago when we first started believing to go on television. Ken had been ministering on radio for a while already, and we’d sensed God wanted us to put our broadcasts on TV, but we hadn’t been able to see how we could do it. TV is extremely expensive, and we didn’t have any money for it. So, we just kept talking about it and meditating on God’s Word. Then one day Ken and I were driving from Arkansas to Texas, and we stopped at a Denny’s® to have breakfast. As we sat there, we began to talk again about television and all of a sudden it just looked easy to us. Nothing in the natural had changed. We still didn’t have the money, personnel or equipment, but that didn’t matter. Faith had gone off in our hearts and handed us the title deed. “Why don’t we just do this?” we said. “Let’s go on TV!” And by the time we walked out of that restaurant, it was as good as done. We had the evidence of things not seen, and as a result we’ve been on TV now for more than 40 years. It’s amazing! But that’s how faith works. It changes the way you look at everything. You might be reading your Bible or listening to someone preach, when your faith boils over and all at once you just know, “I’ve got it! That healing, that new job, that financial breakthrough I’ve been believing God for is mine!” You might be in need of an absolute

miracle, and one day as you’re meditating on the Word and confessing it for the umpteenth time, faith will explode on the inside of you. In a way that can’t be explained in the natural, you’ll have an assurance your need is met. This is how miracles happen. They don’t just fall accidentally out of heaven. “He who supplies the Spirit to you…works miracles among you…by the hearing of faith” (Galatians 3:5, New King James Version). Remember Abraham and Sarah? That’s how they got their miracle. Abraham received God’s Word and began saying about himself what God said. Faith went off in him, gave that Word substance and at 100 years old, Abraham and his 90-year-old barren wife had a son. You can get your miracle the same way because as a believer you’re “Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3:29). You’ve inherited every promise and provision in the Bible. You are BLESSED! You are well! You are rich! “I sure don’t look very well or very rich,” someone might say. Then dig into what the Word says you’ve inherited so your faith can give substance to it. Stop talking about what you see and feel in the natural and start declaring over yourself the Word of God. For as Romans 10 says: The righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (verses 6-10). This isn’t just how we get born again, it’s how we receive everything that’s ours in Christ. It’s how we live our lives. It’s how we please God. It’s what enables us to be world-overcomers. For this is the victory that overcometh the world—even our faith!

MEET THE BOSS

Hey, Superkid! Jesus was looking for the right person to work with and He found you! You have all the right qualifications

He is looking for. Last month, we talked about your work clothes. Your everyday work outfit goes with everything, is right in any situation or occasion, and never fails! Yes, it’s your LOVE clothes! SO, NOW THAT YOU ARE DRESSED AND READY FOR WORK, YOU NEED TO MEET YOUR BOSS. Remember the Owner of this Kingdom business is our Father God. He has put everything under His Son, Jesus. Guess what! You will be working directly with Him! Yes, Jesus is your new Boss! He paid a high price to be able to do this job. Jesus suffered from all sin and sickness then died on the cross for you and me. John 3:16-17 (The Passion Translation) says, “‘For this is how much God loved the world—he gave his one and only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life. God did not send his Son into the world to judge and condemn the world, but to be its Savior and rescue it!’” The Father loved us so much that He gave His Son to rescue us from the power of sin! The Father wants us to be as much His kids as Jesus is. When Jesus rose from the dead, He offered us His own righteousness so that we can be part of God’s family. All we have to do is believe and accept it. Have you met Him yet? If not, there is a step you’ll have to take before starting your job. Romans 10:9-10 (New Living Translation) says, “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” Superkid, Jesus wants to come and live in your heart. He wants to be your Lord, but you have to give yourself to Him. Pray this out loud: Father, thank You for giving Your Son to save me. I believe that He died on the Cross for me and rose again to be able to live inside me. Jesus, come into my heart. Be the Lord of my life today! Yay! Welcome to the family of God! Do you know what just happened? Jesus is now your Lord! The word lord means “master, in authority, in charge.” So you just made Him your Boss! He is now in charge of your life, health, actions, hurts, mistakes. He is Lord over ALL—good and bad.

AS YOUR BOSS, Jesus can be trusted to lead you, because He LOVES you! He’s got a great plan for you. He knows everything about you, and what is ahead for you. Most importantly, Superkid, He will help you do whatever He tells you to do. He doesn’t expect you to get your job done by yourself. He wants to enable you to succeed! You just have to belong to Him and allow Him to be your Boss. When we belong to Him, we don’t have to be afraid of anything. Psalm 23:4 (TPT) says “… fear will never conquer me, for you already have! You remain close to me and lead me through it all the way. Your authority is my strength and my peace. The comfort of your love takes away my fear. I’ll never be lonely, for you are near.” LETTING HIM BE IN CHARGE OF US GIVES US HIS STRENGTH AND HIS PEACE, so there is nothing in our lives that He can’t help us with, even when we mess up! That may be the best part about this Boss. He doesn’t expect us to be perfect or never make mistakes. He knows us. He knows what being human is like, because He is human. Psalm 18:32 says, “You have wrapped me in power, and now you’ve shared with me your perfection.” Superkid, when you asked Jesus into your heart, He filled you with His Spirit, and YOUR spirit became brand-new and as perfect as His. Your spirit changed instantly but your soul (mind, will and emotions) stays the same, unless you truly begin to give your life to Him. When you make him Lord (Master, Ruler, King, Boss) He will BEGIN to change your mind— the part of you that thinks; your will—the part

that makes choices; and emotions—the part of you that feels. AS WE KEEP LOOKING AT AND FOLLOWING JESUS, WE BECOME LIKE HIM. It’s not hard work. Look at this in 2 Corinthians 3:16-18 (The Message): Whenever, though, they turn to face God as Moses did, God removes the veil and there they are—face-to-face! They suddenly recognize that God is a living, personal presence, not a piece of chiseled stone. And when God is personally present…nothing between us and God, our faces [shine] with the brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.”

YOU HAVE ALL THE RIGHT QUALIFICATIONS HE IS LOOKING FOR. This life with Jesus is not one of rules and perfection, but a life of joy and peace in Him. Yes, there is a lot to do, but what other boss wants to do things for you, more than He wants you to do for Him? We will keep talking in the coming year about what your job in the family business looks like. Until then, keep this in mind from Romans 12: “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walkingaround life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you” (verses 1-2). SUPERKID, THIS IS JOB NO. 1: MEET THE BOSS. He’s awesome and He’s always there. You’re going to love working for Jesus! Until next time, Commander Kellie

Kellie Copeland is responsible for Covenant Partner Relations at Kenneth Copeland Ministries and is the developer of the Superkid Academy curriculum. Through her ministry and as “Commander Kellie,” she fulfills the mission of drawing people of all ages into a personal, growing and powerful relationship with Jesus Christ.
