JJ Ready to Reveal JJ What is keeping you alive right now?
<
Have you ever thought about that? You should, because the answer—if
you get it right and fully understand its implications—will revolutionize your life. So stop and consider for a moment…What is it within you that actually generates life?
<
“Well, Brother Copeland,” someone might
say, “I’m alive because my heart is beating. I’m alive because my lungs are taking in oxygen and all of my internal organs are doing their job. My body is keeping me alive.”
<
That sounds reasonable. But it’s not accurate. I
know that, not only because of what the Bible says, but from personal experience. I’ve been in hospital rooms where a person’s body was being totally sustained by life-support systems. The heart was still beating. With the aid of machines the body was breathing in and out. But anyone with any spiritual sense could tell you, that body was nothing but an empty shell. No one was home. The person who once lived there had moved out.
<
The
second those machines are unplugged, that body will completely shut down because the life force that once kept it alive has departed. The spirit of the person is gone.
<
Medical science may not be clear about that fact. But every
glory
born-again believer should be because the Bible clearly tells us that our life force flows from our spirit. Proverbs 4:23 says it this way: “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”

Without Deficits Deficits. | Just reading that word probably makes you cringe. Deficits aren’t fun. They mean lack and struggle, which usually lead to fear and worry. No one likes deficits, yet it seems like everyone has them. | But, everyone doesn’t have to. | In my 28 years of fulltime ministry, I’ve never had a deficit. That’s almost unheard of today, but it’s the truth. People have asked me for years, “Brother Jesse, how do you live deficit free?” To be honest, I wasn’t really sure. I figured I was deficit free because I lived by faith, but the Lord revealed to me there was more to it than that. I was praying one afternoon and the Lord asked me, Jesse, do you know why you’ve never had a deficit? I thought about it for a moment, and then I said, “ Well, Lord, I live by faith and not by sight and I’ve obeyed You to the best of my ability. I guess it’s because of my faith.”
No. That’s not it. “It’s not?” Then the Lord said something to me that I’ ll never forget. He said: It’s because you’ve adopted the David Principle. “The David Principle? Lord, what is the David Principle?” Then He showed me what I’m about to show you. And if you’ll also adopt the David Principle, your deficits will start to disappear.
The David Principle
The David Principle is simply this: Never offer God something that didn’t cost you something. We see an example of this principle in action in 2 Samuel 24 when Gad told David to build an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite. David did as the Lord had commanded through Gad and went to see Araunah. When King David arrived on the scene, Araunah bowed down and asked, “Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” David told him he wanted to buy his threshing floor to build an altar to the Lord so that the plague on the people would end. But Araunah didn’t want to sell those things to David. He wanted to give King David the oxen, the threshing sledges and oxen yokes, but David wouldn’t take them for free. He said, “No, I insist on paying you. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” So, David paid 50 shekels of silver for the threshing floor and the oxen. Then he built an altar to the Lord and sacrificed burnt offerings, and the Lord answered his prayer—stopping the plague on Israel (2 Samuel 24:18-25). That’s the David Principle the Lord was talking about. Whatever you do for the Lord, let it cost you something. That’s why I pay my own expenses when I travel to various places to preach. That’s why I always add more money to the offerings we take up when guest ministers speak at our church. I want it to cost me something. And because I’ve adopted that principle in my life, I’ve never had to worry about expenses. Just Say No to Cheapness
To walk in the David Principle, you may have to change some adverse attitudes that have taken root in your spirit. For example, you should never ask how little you can do. Instead, ask, “How much can I do?” Why? Because if a man’s feelings are of God, he will rebuke all thoughts of cheapness. When was the last time you left a really good tip? I’m not talking about leaving one or two dollars on the table for that person who waited on you throughout your entire meal. I’m talking about leaving a 20 percent tip. As a born-again, spirit-filled believer, you ought to give a better tip than anyone else who walks into that restaurant because the glory of God is on you. When you go out to dinner with friends, you ought to be fighting over who gets the opportunity to pay the bill—just because you want to be a blessing. Not long ago, my wife, Cathy, and I took a minister and his wife out to eat at a really nice restaurant, and the pastor’s

Order anything you want.” I didn’t say, “Well, I don’t know, Sister. We’d better see if they are having any kind of lobster specials today.” You see, I’d already paid for that lobster a long time ago when I blessed the Lord. Don’t be cheap because you don’t want to reap cheap. You Can’t Outgive God
Now, don’t misunderstand me. You shouldn’t bless people or give unto the Lord with the wrong motives. Your attitude should be, “I just want to be a blessing. I’m not giving to get.” The Word says God knows your heart, which means He knows your motivation for giving. You can’t fool God. I don’t negotiate with God and say, “Now, Lord, I am going to give this man my favorite watch, but I expect You to give me the top-of-the-line Rolex in return.” Instead, I give to delight God and do you know what happens? He gives me the desires of my heart. When you delight in God, desire comes. You can never outgive God. He is the ultimate giver. God could have sent the angel Gabriel or Michael the archangel to die on the Cross for you and me, and I’m sure Gabriel or Michael would have happily volunteered. But God sent His only Son, Jesus, to die for us. You might say it this way: God gave something that cost Him something. He gave His very best. We should do the same. To give God the best is necessary for every believer. You should want to honor God with your best. That’s why our church and ministry headquarters in Louisiana look so good inside and outside, because as long as I have anything to say about it, God’s house will be a place of excellence. We don’t keep our buildings and grounds looking beautiful to show off, we do it to honor God and give Him our best. Give It Up for God
What is your best? The value of a gift greatly depends on the self-denial for which it finds expression. In other words, when you go without something you really love, to give something to God, it pleases Him.

When Cathy and I first started giving money to God, the devil would always make me feel bad about the small amount we gave. We didn’t have much money in those days, so we gave what would have been our McDonald’s money. It might have only been $8, but I loved those Big Macs. I had to go without Big Macs and french fries for a whole week. Now that’s self-denial, and it pleases God. Keep an open mind when honoring God with your gifts. The gift you give might not come in the form of money; it might be something else that’s precious to you—like time. Not long ago, my pilot and I went to a health club while we were on one of our travels. I was in town to minister all week and needed to find time to squeeze

in some workouts. Just as I got on a treadmill and was beginning my workout, two women approached me. One said, “Hello, are you who we think you are?” I smiled and said, “Yes, I am Tom Selleck.” We all laughed, and then they hopped on the treadmills right next to me. Even though I really wanted to work out, I sensed that these women needed to talk. So, I ended up ministering to them as I walked. That cost me something. It cost me precious time, but I was happy to give that time to them because it honored the Lord. Your Gift Matters to God
Beware of thinking what you do for the Lord is insignificant. Everything matters. I’ve met many wonderful people over the course of my ministry, but few have affected me as profoundly as this precious sister from Poland. She lived in a house that had cracks in the walls so big you could see outside. She was in her 80s and had been a faithful partner to my ministry for many years. One day, she placed a $20 bill in my hand and whispered in her Polish accent, “I want to be a blessing to the Lord and to your ministry…it’s not much.” But, it was much—it was all she had. I didn’t want to take that $20 because I knew how much she needed it, but God said, Don’t rob her of her blessing. I smiled at her with tears in my eyes and said, “It’s the greatest gift I’ve ever received in my ministry.” Her gift made a difference in my life, and it greatly honored God. What made her do it? She had a devotedness of spirit and life, and that’s what you must have to walk in the David Principle and live a life free from deficits. When you are devoted to God, He will honor you. The Lord said to me recently, Jesse, you’re always thinking of what you can give Me. That blessed me, because that’s how I want to live my life. I want to be a giver, and I want to give God gifts that cost me something. If you’ll do the same, God will honor your young days, your middle-aged days and your old days. Take hold of this today and watch your deficits begin to dwindle. A: The answer to your problem can be found in Mark 4. There Jesus said that after God’s Word is sown in the heart, Satan immediately comes to take it away. What tools does he use to dig up the planted Word? Jesus tells us: afflictions, persecutions, cares of this world, deceitfulness of riches and the lust of other things. Whenever you sow the Word, Satan is going to send some of those things your way in an attempt to pry you loose from the Word of God because he knows that Word will give you victory over him. Losing Weight by Michelle Medlock Adams
God’s Way
D
Driving home from a doctor’s appointment that March day in 2000, Carol Layton couldn’t help but notice the beauty of the season. Bright-colored flowers dotted the green hills as she drove down the highway. North Carolina was always pretty in the springtime. It would be a perfect day to take a hike in the woods with her grown children or walk around the block with her husband. But Carol couldn’t do either of those things very easily— not at 340 pounds.
Even though she had been overweight most of her life, Carol hadn’t been plagued by many health challenges. So when her mammogram showed “abnormalities” this time, Carol was devastated. I’ve got to do something about this weight, she thought, knowing obesity was a risk factor for many diseases. It was the nudge she needed to get serious—one more time—about losing weight. Carol charged into her home and headed straight for the closet. Rummaging through shoes, purses and other stuff, she finally saw them—all of the Marty Copeland spiritual weight-loss products she had ordered f rom Kenneth Copeland Ministries several months earlier. Having listened to Kenneth Copeland’s tapes since the 1970s, Carol had confidence in the Copeland family. In fact, she and her husband, Jim, had just become Partners with KCM. This was it. Carol opened up the video titled Arise and Walk and popped it into her VCR.
yardwork—all the time. And she watched Arise and Walk at least three times a week. She even put a note on her computer that said, “PROVE IT!” as a constant reminder. Before long, the Word of God concerning her weight loss took root in her heart, and Carol became free. “I remember waking up one morning and feeling different,” Carol shared. “I realized that I didn’t have to wait until I reached my goal weight to get free and happy. I felt free and happy and I’d only lost 10 pounds with more than 100 left to lose! It was so different this time. Even after I attained my goal weight on those other diets, I was never free because I lived in fear of gaining back the weight.” Carol began making small changes in her eating, as well as sowing to the spirit just as Marty had instructed. “I started eating three healthy meals a day and a banana at 3:30 every afternoon,” she recalled. “And, I didn’t indulge in everything I wanted. I remember sowing selfcontrol after getting home from work, making myself wait even one minute before eating dinner, just to practice the spiritual principle.”
“I remember thinking if I did it God ’s way, it would be too slow,” Carol Layton said. “I wanted it fast. I wanted rules and regulations and a strict program, but God gave me f reedom, love and self-control.” Lord, I don’t know if I am up for this, Carol prayed. You’re going to have to help me. As she listened to Marty Copeland share how God had set her free from the bondage of weight, Carol began to sob. “I heard her testimony and I thought, I want to have a testimony, too,” Carol shared. “I felt spiritually weak, and I wanted to get stronger in every area. I wanted to lose weight and keep it off. I wanted to get healthier.” Then Marty Copeland pointed at the camera and said, “Go out there and prove it!” I will, Carol thought. This time I will!
Finding Freedom Having lost 90 pounds
on a protein-shake diet— twice—only to regain that weight and more, Carol was afraid to start another program and fail another time. That’s why Marty’s teaching was so perfect. It wasn’t a program, it was a spiritual revelation. It was freedom—freedom Carol had never known before—freedom she thought she could never have. Carol also listened to Marty’s audio teachings— Health and Fitness as It Pertains to Life and Godliness and Present Your Body. She listened in the car, during her 15-minute walks, while doing housework, while doing
After nine months of feasting on God’s Word through Marty’s tapes and videos, that spiritual truth of sowing to the spirit had become so big in Carol she couldn’t think any other way. She had grown in self-control, and people in her family were beginning to notice the change—both spiritually and physically. In December of that year, her entire family celebrated the Christmas season with a weenie and marshmallow roast on a hillside behind Carol and Jim’s house. The air was crisp and the night was clear, making the stars appear even more brilliant. Carol finished her hot dog and gazed into the flickering bonfire, reflecting over the past nine months and her steadily shrinking body. “Carol, do you want another hot dog?” asked Brad, her future son-in-law. Carol thought before answering: Do I really want another hot dog? “No, praise God,” Carol shouted. “I don’t eat when I’m not hungry!” Everyone burst out laughing at her passionate response. “Mom,” her daughter, Anna, teased, “a simple ‘No, thank you’ would have sufficed.” It was a “eureka” moment for Carol. “Right then, I realized what God had done for me,”

Carol explained. “I had only lost about 40 pounds at that point, but I was freer than I’d ever been before.”
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall…
Carol had lived a life of bondage for as long as she could remember. She had grown up thinking she was fat with no hope of ever being thin. “My oldest sister put me on a diet when I was in first grade,” Carol shared. “I remember being taller than all the other girls and having to shop in the ‘chubby girl’ section of clothing stores.” During Carol’s high school years, the very thin supermodel Twiggy was all the rage. Carol looked nothing like Twiggy. In fact, at 5 feet 10, Carol towered over most other girls, and though she wasn’t fat, she was often referred to as big boned. To make matters worse, her mother and three sisters didn’t have a weight problem. “I tried every diet known to man in high school,” she said. “I played on the basketball team so I wasn’t huge, but I was probably 30 pounds overweight. I definitely had an abnormal relationship with food. I used it as an escape.”
When Carol started attending Appalachian State University in North Carolina, she felt like a big-boned gal in a sea of skinny girls. But, she was determined to do everything possible to lose the weight and become one of those skinny girls. “When I see pictures of myself from high school and college, I think if I’d been more accepting of myself and hadn’t tried so hard to fit the stereotype, I wouldn’t have developed an eating disorder,” shared Carol. “Because of my warped body image, I spent most of my college years bingeing and fasting.” She’d go up 20 pounds and then drop 20 pounds. Like Marty Copeland, before she broke free from the bondage of weight, bulimia became a crutch for Carol. “I found out that I was pretty good at fasting, so when I needed to lose weight for a special event, I would fast or go on a protein-shake diet,” she explained. “But, after I gained those 90 pounds back a second time, I pretty much gave up.” By age 36, Carol wore a size 26. “Nothing ever worked for me,” she confessed. “I’d fast. I’d go to the YMCA and work out and keep the weight off for a while, but it never stayed off because there was no power behind it.”

Doing Things God’s Way
Through God’s power and grace, Carol has now lost 110 pounds and has had no more abnormal mammograms or any other health problems. She works out five days a week, sometimes leads a Christian yoga class at a local health club, and ministers to others struggling with weight and bondage. One day last year when Carol was power walking to Marty Copeland’s Walkin’ Stronger! CD, she had an encounter with God concerning her destiny. On the CD, Marty encouraged: “Ask the Lord to speak to you during this workout.” So, Carol did. As she rounded that last corner headed toward home, Carol had almost forgotten what she’d prayed 30 minutes earlier, but God hadn’t. Carol heard God’s still small voice whisper, Now that you’re free, I am going to help you help others get free. And, God has been giving her divine opportunities ever since. One of Carol’s co-workers at the educational publishing house where they work told Carol that she was her inspiration, confessing how badly she also wanted to lose weight. So, Carol loaned her Marty’s Arise and Walk video, and encouraged her every day. Not long after, that coworker had dropped 40 pounds. “I remember thinking if I did it God’s way, it would be too slow,” Carol admitted. “I wanted it fast. I wanted rules and regulations and a strict program, but God gave me freedom, love and self-control.” It’s been a six-year process, but Carol wouldn’t give up one step of her journey toward freedom. Her key scripture throughout this spiritual and physical transformation has been Psalm 18:16-17: “He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me” (New International Version). “Now that I’ve done this God’s way, I know He wasn’t holding back on me in the area of weight loss,” Carol shared. “God has been drawing me to Him and wanting me to trust Him with this for so long, but I always wanted to try one more ‘miracle’ diet.” People are quite impressed with Carol’s dramatic transformation, which always leads to the question: “What diet did you go on to lose so much weight?” “People are amazed when I say, ‘I didn’t go on a diet. I lost weight God’s way.’ I think the victory is even sweeter because God gets the glory!” Carol is still “proving it” today, inching toward her goal weight and loving the freedom she’s gained in the process. environment, growing up in the Rhondda Valleys of South Wales which is an area marked by emptiness, hopelessness, crime, poverty and depression. “ The youth in Rhondda grow up with the mind-set, ‘I have to do whatever I can to get out of here,’” Davies explained. “ Those who aren’t able to escape generally have some kind of self-esteem issue, and many even turn to drugs and suicide.”
Davies had managed to escape those things because of his successful rugby career, which included some of the biggest off-field roles in the Welsh and British game. But success had not brought him any peace. So, when his friends and fellow rugby players Clive and Chris Jones invited him to church in October 1992, he agreed to go. He continued to attend, until four months later, on Feb. 21, 1993, Davies felt something he’d never felt before—the power of Almighty God. Instinctively, he raised his hands toward heaven and said, “I surrender everything to You, Lord.” Chris and Clive Jones had already given their hearts to God two years earlier. Together, the three notorious rugby men, who were now totally sold out to Jesus, were ready to do something big for God—something they knew would be birthed in prayer. So, Davies, the Jones brothers, and their pastor, the Rev. John Bullock, began meeting together every Friday morning to pray for direction, opportunities to minister the love of God and revival for their beloved Rhondda. Not Just a Good Idea | After almost 10 years, on July 5, 2002, in one of their Friday morning prayer meetings, Rev. Bullock asked the three of them, “What would you be prepared to do for God if you knew you couldn’t fail?” Davies was passionate about three things—Jesus Christ, sports and the area’s youth. He wondered if God could take those passions and use them for His glory. The answer was a resounding YES! That was the day Sporting Marvels, a ministry that uses sports to reach children with the love of God, was birthed. Today, Sporting Marvels has nine full-time staff members (five Americans, two South Af ricans, one Nigerian and one Malawian) working in four of the six comprehensive schools (for children ages 11 to 18), and teaching in 17 of the 37 primary schools in Rhondda. “We plan to add at least two or three more fulltime staffers by year ’s end,” said Davies, noting these staff members’ salaries are paid by Sporting Marvels—not the schools. “Our goal is to put a positive Christian role model in front of every child every day until Jesus returns.” These young, charismatic Christians are teaching the children of Rhondda about the love of God, self-esteem and the fruit of the spirit. And, because the program isn’t funded by the schools, the Sporting Marvels staff members are able to preach the gospel freely during the school day, on campus, without reservation. They are even allowed to pass out Bibles to the children!
When the 10- and 11-year-old primary school children complete the 36-week Mighty Marvels program, they are presented a Sporting Marvels certificate and a HoneyWord Bible of their very own during a special ceremony in front of the whole school. “These are kids who have never heard about Jesus Christ,” shared Davies. “They’ve never opened a Bible or been to a church. And this is an area where less than 1 percent of the population regularly attends church—the lowest statistics in all of Europe.” But God is still in control, and in Him even the negative can work as a positive. Since the youth in Rhondda have no preconceived ideas about God or Christianity, they are easily embracing the good news and all it has to offer. In February 2006 alone, 23 children made Jesus the L ord of their lives! In modern-day Rhondda, such a figure is nothing short of staggering. The school environment is Sporting Marvels’ mission field, and KCM Europe is helping Davies and his staff members fulOur goal is to put a positive fill their calling. Christian role model in front “Since the very beginning, of every child every day until KCM has been massively Jesus retur ns. —Phil Davies supportive,” said Davies. “ They have been a great blessing in every way and they understand the concept of partnership like no other. We are proud to call KCM our partners and our friends.” Martin Hawkins, director of KCM Europe, is proud that KCM can support such an effective ministry. “I am so thankful for the team God has assembled at Sporting Mar vels,” shared Hawkins. “ They are truly an outstanding group of people with a tremendous heart and passion for the lost and hurting in the Rhondda Valleys and beyond. It is a pleasure to partner with them.” God is doing big things through KCM Europe and its association with Sporting Marvels. Kids are coming to Christ and learning that they can be victorious in the game of life with Jesus Christ as their Head Coach. Please keep this ministry in your prayers, as Davies and his staff look for more ways to expand their work ministering to the youth of the Rhondda Valleys of Wales. Obedience Is Rewarded We have an aviation ministry that provides people with free air transportation for medical purposes. Last year at Branson, the Lord had us sow a seed toward getting our aircraft painted— a $25,000 expense. We sowed a seed to KCM’s need, the Citation X. Shortly after, an individual I had met only a few times donated $15,000 toward our paint. I thank God and KCM. Jesus is Lord!

Debt-Free Supernaturally
A couple of Sundays ago at church, a man asked my husband if they could meet. So, they met in a little side room and the man asked for forgiveness. My husband was confused and the man said the Lord had told him to do something several months ago and he didn’t do it. He then handed him a check and said the Lord told him to give it to him. It was a check for $54,000. That is exactly how much we were in debt. We are now officially debtfree. Praise God! Your teaching on seedtime and harvest, and standing on the Word played a vital role in us receiving our harvest. Actually, we would have never realized this harvest if not for KCM teaching about sowing significant seeds!

Family Wins Over Grief and Sorrow
I sent in a prayer request for my daughter, whose 14-month-old son went home to be with Jesus in February. God gave me supernatural strength, peace and comfort which enabled me to minister to my five other children who were having a hard time with their nephew’s homegoing. One morning, I got up and was missing my grandson ver y much. I had a lump in my throat most of that day. As I was going home f rom work, my cellphone rang. It was a prayer minister from KCM asking if he could pray with me. The one and only day I was really sad, you called and prayed with me. You will never know how much it meant to me. He even sent us the book Within Heaven’s Gates and two tapes that have really ministered to my family. Kenneth Copeland’s tape Winning Over Grief and Sorrow even made us laugh and reaffirmed what I had been telling my family. Many blessings upon each one of you, and again, thank you. G.C. | Texas
azette Answers From the BVOV Magazine
I’m a nurse and have a private duty position. I do a lot of praying in my car on the way to work and at my client’s house while he sleeps. One day, I was praying on the way to work about something I was really struggling with. I believe it was about drawing closer to God. At my client’s house was a BVOV magazine from 2004 with the article “Spending Time at the Master’s Feet” by Gloria Copeland. There was no name on or in it—the name and address sections were completely blank. I asked around, but no one knew where it came from. I thanked the Lord for it, read the article and put it back where I found it. A week or so later, the same thing happened again! A BVOV issue from ’04 or ’05 showed up at my client’s house and it said the exact same thing about what I had been praying about. Again, the name and address section was blank. This happened a total of four times. Praise God! After the fourth one showed up, I went home, found the KCM Web site and became a Partner! I had never heard the name “Copeland” before this. I’d never watched the program and didn’t know there was a BVOV magazine! Now I record the program every day and I thank God for the teaching I get from Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, as well as their children when they do the broadcast. Beth Turner | House Springs, MO
He Lays Hands on the Sick and They Recover!
I own a barber shop and God has used me over the last few weeks to pray for people as I cut their hair. I am also a Partner with KCM. An older man came in with blurred vision in his right eye and his doctors couldn’t figure out what the problem was. He let me pray for him and afterward he said it was a little better. So, I had him close his eyes and say “Thank You, Jesus, for healing me.” Again, he was a little better. After repeating this three times, he was able to see clearly! Another man came in with blood clots in his leg and nerve damage in the outer three toes of his left foot. He’d had no feeling in his toes for about a year and he could not move or bend them. When I prayed for him, he said he immediately felt tingling in his toes and he could move and bend them, and his leg felt warm and better than it had in months. These are just a few of the blessings. There are also salvations, but mostly physical healings, and it’s happening right here in New England. Praise God, I’m one of the chosen who has not been frozen! God bless you all and thank you for your teaching. D.L. | Massachusetts
My Baby Lives Long and Lives Strong
One day my baby got sick—about to die. Satan was telling me he would not live. Then, I took the BVOV magazine and read “Live Long, Live Strong” and my faith built up. The seventh day, my mom came to visit and we two believed in the Name of Jesus and prayed for the baby. We told Satan, “God’s will is to be healed, saved and delivered, and to prosper and have peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” We said, “Holy Spirit, come in his body.” The Holy Spirit saturated his body and he received his healing that very moment. Thank God for His power. My baby is alive. He is happy, living healthy and strong. Praise God for His healing power! S.H. | Guyana

Supernatural Flu Protection
Before we started watching your broadcast, my wife, daughter and I had flu several times during the period from December to March. When we watched your sermons about healing, we took hold of it immediately. We put the Word of God as the basis of our health—we started binding all diseases by the power of our Lord and His Word. We live in Eastern Siberia. In this region, the peak of flu is in March when the average temperature is -20 to -25 C (-4 to -13 F). But in our case the flu had to go away from our family. No member of our family was ill that spring. Thank you for revealing to us the Word of God for healing. V. A.

FinishStrong! Strong! No matter whether you’re a stay-at-home mom or the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, life is busy and full of daily challenges. Most of us live a very fast-paced, instant-gratification existence. The world tells us to “Live for now! Live in the moment! Seize the day!” Listen to Your Elders But, that’s not how God says we are to live. He John wrote about eternal rewards when he was an old says because we are eternal beings, we need to be man, and I’ve learned something over eternity-minded. Stop trying to wrap you can’t do anything speak into your life. That’s why 1, 2 and your mind around it. Instead, let your of eternal value outside of 3 John hold such nuggets of wisdom spirit man grasp the reality of eternity. God’s grace, the sooner you’ll walk in peace and happiness.
for us—John wrote them toward the closing days of his life. I believe he knew he might not have another opportunity to speak into the lives of believers, so when he wrote in 2 John 8 that we should take a close inventory of our lives, I imagine he felt strongly about that instruction. He wanted us to pay close attention to our motives, words and actions so we would stay the course and receive our full reward in eternity. John echoed what God had already said through the prophet Ezekiel when he said, “If good people turn bad and don’t listen to my warning, they will die. If you did not warn them of the consequences, then they will die in their sins. Their previous good deeds won’t help them…” (Ezekiel 3:20, New Living Translation). That ’s why we must continually examine our lives. That’s why we need to learn f rom the people who finish well. You see, I don’t want to be just a young preacher. I want to continue on my course and become an old preacher. That ’s why people like the late Lester Sumrall and faith giants like Oral Roberts and Kenneth Copeland have my attention. They’ve run their courses well. Humbly Run Your Course
Are you running your course well today? Maybe you didn’t even know you had a course to run, but you do. God has a specific path for every one of us. The Bible says before you were born, each day of your life was recorded. The bottom line is that God has a plan just for you, and He expects you to follow it through to the very end. In Ecclesiastes 3:15 (New King James Version), Solomon said: “That which is has already been, and what is to be has already been; and God requires an account of what is past.” Everything you do right now and everything you do in the future has already been recorded in God’s book. But for that which is in the past, you’re going to have to give an account. God is going to ask you, Did you walk in what I ordained for you? Did you fulfill the call I had on your life? Did you see it through to completion, or did you quit along the way? I don’t know about you, but I sure don’t want to stray f rom the call that God has
CX Kenneth and Gloria Copeland trav-
eled nearly 166,300 miles, and spent
more than 500 hours in the air in 2005—going around the world to carry the good news that “Jesus Is Lord” to people in places like Europe, Russia and South America? That’s mor e air miles than the average person will travel in a lifetime, and more work hours than NASA’s astronauts have spent in space during any single mission in the last five years.
This year, the Copelands have been able to travel just as far, but spend considerably less time in the air, thanks to the acquisition of a new Cessna Citation X jet—the world’s fastest midsize corporate jet. Since the Lord called them to ministry, Kenneth and Gloria’s heart and vision has been to preach the Word of God “from the top of the world to the bottom and all the way around.” The Citation X is helping to make their vision even more of a reality! With an itinerary that includes three six-day Believers’ Conventions, several three-day Victory Campaigns, and numerous personal meetings each year, travel plays a major role for Kenneth and Gloria. Certified to fly as high as 51,000 feet, the eight-passenger Citation X can reach 43,000 feet in 30 minutes, climbing quickly to transcontinental and transatlantic crossing altitudes. It can fly 3200 nautical miles without refueling, and make the flight between Los Angeles and New York City in just over four hours. For KCM, that means going more places faster, and ministering to people more often.
For nearly 40 years, Kenneth and Gloria Copeland have been teaching the Word and showing us how to walk in the things of God. They have taught us as believers about our authority in Christ, and they have shown us how to prosper and live in health. Their message is one of worldwide proportion. And they are taking it around the world—every day—and seeing results as souls are saved and lives changed. It’s the call of God on their lives— the mission of Kenneth Copeland Ministries. And with your help, they’re doing everything possible to fulfill it.

on my life. I don’t want to get sidetracked or veer off course. I want to write books, preach and do all that God has for me to do until the very end. That’s my calling. It may not be yours, but you can be confident that God has a specific purpose and plan for your life, and it’s just as important as the one He has for me, Kenneth Copeland or Oral Roberts. Once when I was being interviewed on a national TV program, the inter viewer began focusing too much on me and downplaying the message of my book, which made me very uncomfortable. He went on and on, talking about my position and my accomplishments until I had to interrupt. I looked at this man and said, “You know what, sir? There are pastors in rural communities, pastoring only 300 people, whom you will never have on this program. But these men, if they’ve been faithful in their ministries, will stand on the front lines of heaven with those whom we consider the greatest of the great. There are people carrying out garbage in their churches, ushering for their pastors, working faithfully in their communities, and being great parents in their homes who will be called the heroes of heaven. They are the ones who will be rewarded.” Will you? Become a Living Stone in God’s House
God is building a house. In fact, He has been building it for thousands of years, and the name of that house is Zion. It’s not a physical house, but it’s very real. Do you know who is going to make up that house? The living stones—you and I. So, here is the question. Will God have to raise up someone else in your place to complete the work you were called to do, or will you be that living stone? Because the work will be completed, with or without you. Each of us has a part to play in building the house of God, and when we stand before the judgment seat of Christ we will each have to give an account for what we did whether good or bad. That shouldn’t scare you, but it should reawaken the fear of God in your life. The fear of God is defined as absolute reverence, honor and veneration toward Almighty God, and it is a very important aspect of our lives. Most of us understand the need for the love of God, but few comprehend the need for the fear of God. It takes both operating in our lives to help us stay the course. while the fear of God keeps us f rom lawlessness. God has many names and many characteristics. He is called love, but He is also referred to as the all-consuming fire. Hebrews 12:28 says, “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may ser ve God acceptably.” How do we do that? “With reverence and godly fear” (New King James Version). Our God is a wonderful, loving Father, but He is also a just and holy judge. We need to remember both sides of who He is as we live out our destinies here on earth. We will go through eternal judgment, and the decisions that are made at the judgment seat will last forever. Think about that for a moment. Are you ready for that judgment today? What if I told you the way you live the next day of your life would determine how you spend eternity? Wouldn’t you be more conscious of your words, actions and motives all day long? Of course you would, and so would I. We would be much more eternity-minded. Finish Your Race With Purpose
Well, I can’t tell you how long you’ ll live here on earth, but I can tell you that whether you live 80 years or 160 years, your life is but a vapor, according to the book of James. So you have to make that vapor count. Wake up every single day knowing that God has put you on this earth to labor for His kingdom. But don’t let that knowledge make you feel fearful or overwhelmed, because you don’t have to go it alone. God doesn’t want you to go it alone because He knows that without Him you’ll fail. The sooner you learn you can’t do anything of eternal value outside of God’s grace, the sooner you’ll walk in peace and happiness. Freedom comes when you depend on His ability, and not your own. So, become eternity-minded today. See yourself as a temporary citizen of earth so that you won’t become entangled in the world. When you begin each day conscious of eternal things, you’ ll be able to face challenges that you never would have been able to handle if you were temporal-minded, and you’ll be able to run your course with purpose and joy. Go ahead—make an eternal difference today! V ictor y John Bevere is an internationally known, best-selling author and speaker, and host of a weekly television program aired in more than 200 nations. Settle It! You may have heard me refer to this subject a number of times, and I still don’t think I talk about it near as much as I hear the Lord talk to me about it. Over these almost 40 years of ministry, I have had certain things come up in my life that the Lord deals with me about in no uncertain terms. He tells me, Settle it! We all have some issues in our lives—in our walk with the Lord—that we really don’t need to be praying about anymore. For many of our issues, we simply need to settle them and not bring them up again. You know the things that bother you. Maybe you’ve wondered, I don’t know whether I’m really saved. Or maybe you’re continually thinking, I don’t know if the Lord wants to heal me. Or maybe you’ve asked, “Lord, is prosperity really Your will for my family?” Well, it’s time you settle these issues and anything else that comes up in your life that has an absolute biblical answer. Your salvation, your health, your deliverance, your prosperity, your relationships…every one of these has plenty of biblical foundation.
You may be wondering, What about issues that involve direction for my life that don’t have a clear Bible answer? Well, I’ve had those questions, too. And the Lord’s answer is the same—settle it! The Lord is not holding back direction for your life. His Word is clear on that as well. All you have to do is ask (Matthew 7:7; Luke 11:9; James 1:5). Just You and the Lord | The Lord has led me to the Communion table to settle my issues, and it has always been an effective “settling” for me. I’m talking about you and the Lord Jesus getting together, alone. Take the time you need. Separate yourself unto the Lord. Go away with Him, if you need to. Locate the truth of His Word on the issues that

trouble you. Take the elements of Communion and serve yourself before the Lord. Let Him settle your heart on the truth about your issues. It may take you a few hours or a few days, along with several sessions of Communion. Whatever it takes for you personally, settle it! Maybe you didn’t realize you can actually do that. You’ve always thought only the pastor or a deacon could serve you Communion. Corporate Communion in a church setting is a great thing, and necessary for complete harmony in the Body of Christ. But, I realized years ago that as a king and priest before the Lord— which we all are—I can come to Him, and we can have Communion together as often as we like. Some people I’ve heard of and some I know personally take Communion privately every day with the Lord. They are people of great spiritual power and extraordinary revelation.
| Is it worth my effort to keep this covenant of love? Well, let’s settle that question right now. It does take effort to commit to the covenant of love. Jesus said, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength” (Mark 12:30). Yes, that’s total commitment! No part of our being is left out of the picture. Of course, love starts in the heart—the seat of God’s influence, the real person, the hidden man—the spirit of a man. Spirit is what you are! Then love works its way through your soul where your will and emotions reside. Your mind then comes into play as love begins to rule the decision-making, understanding, mental part of you. And finally, love must have an outlet to express itself in action through your strength. Strength means “ability, assets and influence.” Your strength communicates your love for God by utilizing all its attributes to bring glory to Him. Our love for Him culminates in His love pouring through us to others—our neighbors, our enemies, our fellow members of the Body of Christ and even ourselves. Now, that appears to be a pretty easy flow pattern for love. And, it is. The effort lies in staying settled on it. The enemy’s No. 1 strategy is to upset the flow of love. Every day he brings situations into our paths to make us stumble in our love walk…to unsettle us. What he does to us day in and day out is no different than what he did to Jesus. And our ability to keep on course without being tripped up is the same as Jesus’—the indwelling Spirit of Love, and “It is written.” Just like Jesus—we were begotten of the love of God when we first believed that Jesus is the Anointed One, the beloved of God (1 John 5:1). And, just like every covenant God ever made with mankind throughout history, He was the initiator of the covenant of love. All we have to do is respond, yes. And when we do, we receive a new identity. Is It Worth the Effort?
Some people
| In the day and age in which we live we must have the foundational principles of God’s Word settled in our lives. The Lord has too much for us to do for us to still be wondering about anything that He has clearly spoken about in His Word. He is strategically positioning us to be in our assigned places. He is connecting us to specifically appointed people for us to fulfill our work and ministry. So, now is the time to get our issues settled. We must settle our hearts about our personal relationship with the Lord and all He has provided for us to live our lives in the power of His Spirit. We must settle our marriage, our children and our family relationships. We must settle our personal habits, our health practices and God’s will about healing us. We must settle where and how we give and receive. We must settle the work and ministry the Lord has for us in this world. Now, all these are connected to an issue we must settle first. They all hang on the No. 1 question each of us must settle in our hearts. The question for many is about the integrity and reliability of God’s love. Do I truly believe God loves me? Am I truly convinced it is worth it for me to love Him with every part of my The First Step
being and to unselfishly love the people He places in my life?

One Nation... for the Glor y of God
Why did the Pilgrims come to America? What was in the heart of God concerning this place? If you want to know the truth about the founding of our nation, go back to its original documents and the circumstances surrounding their creation. The truth may surprise you. It has always been God’s plan to have a nation where the glory of God could be sown and nurtured, f rom which His glory could spread throughout the whole earth—where all people could praise the God of heaven and be protected from sin, sickness, demons,
fear and all the curse that had come on the earth. This North American continent was the place He chose for the seed to be planted. God picked a handful of people from different places to come here and plant the seeds of His glory. They
God’s plan was a place
where all tribes, all tongues, all races, all colors could freely praise and worship Him together.
were not racists or religionists. They were just believers. I n N o ve m b e r 1 6 2 0 , a l i t t l e s h i p c a l l e d t h e Mayflower came to the shores of this continent. The people aboard had the glory of God and a prayer of faith in their hearts for a place where they could worship God in f reedom. On board that vessel, these people entered into a covenant with God to establish the land of His dreams in the Name and in the blood of Jesus. The Mayflower Compact is America’s first great constitutional document. It was signed in Cape Cod Bay before the ship’s inhabitants set foot on American soil. Here is some of what it proclaimed: In the name of God, amen. We whose names are underwritten…Having undertaken for the Glory of God, and Advancement of the Christian Faith, and the Honour of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia…. This wasn’t just any colony. It was, in the words of the Pilgrims themselves, “for the Glory of God and Advancement of the Christian Faith.” In England they had suffered persecution for their religious convictions. That had led them to emigrate to Holland in search of religious freedom. After 12 difficult years there, they made the voyage to the New World to begin a colony for the glory of God. I always come back to this when I hear people predict the doom of the United States like they have been doing for more than 220 years. I want you to know something about this country—it may go through some hard knocks, but it’s not going to fail. I can tell you exactly why. It’s protected under the Mayflower Compact—a covenant established in the blood of Jesus between the Pilgrims and God. Because of it, God has had mercy on this nation in spite of all of us. Recently Gloria and I heard a statement made by a prophet of God—a powerful man of prayer from India. He said Jesus came to him in prayer one afternoon,
and he asked, “Jesus, when are You going to judge America?” Jesus said, I’m not. I have a covenant with them that was made on the Mayflower, and I remember that covenant…. Thank God, that covenant has saved this nation over and over. God Still Has a Dream…
I believe this dream is a major part of what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. saw when he said, “I have a dream.” He said he had seen the promised land and glory. I don’t think he was just seeing folks sitting together. There’s more to it than that. They can pass laws and make us sit together, but they can’t make us love each other. But in the spirit there’s reconciliation. The blood of Jesus wipes out the differences and divisions. I believe that’s what he saw. As Galatians 3:28 says, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” God never intended for the black man to come here in the belly of a slave ship. And He never planned for the white man to come over here and steal from the red man and kill him. None of that was God’s plan. God’s plan was a place where all tribes, all tongues, all races, all colors could f reely praise and worship Him together. God intended for this North American continent to be a place where there would be a nation like the family of God. It was meant to be a place where people honestly love each other. Why? Because of the anointing that abides within. There is an anointing to love (Ephesians 3:14-20). A Jewish man loved and died for all of us—the black man, the red man, the white man, the yellow man, the brown man. There had to be an anointing to do that, and that anointing is on His Body, the Church, today. It’s Christ in you…our hope of glory! Make no mistake about it, God is still going to have His dream and we’re a part of it. The American dream is God’s dream—one nation under God filled with His glory. V ictor y

Unshakable Peace + in an Uncertain World ∂
U
nless you’ve been living in a cave the last few years, you’ve surely heard more than your fair share of doom and gloom about the days that lie before us. | , The media has bombarded us with dire predictions about everything from the increase of disease and poor job markets to our planet’s inability to support the growing population. , It’s not hard to understand why people in the world are wringing their hands. by Gloria Copeland
T he next time you hear some “expert ” on television predict doom and gloom, counter with your own prediction. S ay,
“I abide under the Lord’s shadow and I have refuge. No evil will befall me and no calamity will come near my house!” But things should be very different for you and me. We’re children of a God who has guided His people through times of greater uncertainty and confusion than these. Of course I don’t know for certain what the coming days are going to bring for the people in the world. But I do know what they’re going to be like for my family and me. They’re going to be days of wholeness, soundness, abundance and increase. In other words, they’re going to be days filled with peace. And they can be the same for you, too.
Living in God’s Shalom
At this point you may be wondering, How can you be so confident, Gloria? I’ll tell you. I’m looking forward to the days and weeks ahead because the Word tells me I have a “covenant of peace” with God Himself: “For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee” (Isaiah 54:10). Did you hear that? Your heavenly Father just said His covenant of peace would never be removed from you! He said there is a greater chance of the Rockies disappearing! The Hebrew word translated peace in this verse literally means “nothing missing, nothing broken.” It is the familiar Hebrew word shalom. Just as it was in the verse above, shalom is often translated “peace.” It is also translated as several other English words. According to Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance, the word shalom is also translated as “prosperity, safety, wellness, welfare and health.” (Much like the New Testament Greek word translated salvation.) One Hebrew dictionary I read defined shalom as “everything that makes for man’s highest good.” The Hebrew root word f rom which shalom comes means “to be complete, perfect and full”—in other words: “Nothing missing. Nothing broken.” Having a shalom covenant means having an unbreakable promise of completeness, peace, health, welfare, safety, soundness, tranquility, prosperity, fullness, rest and harmony with the God of the universe. All of those things are summed up in the word “wholeness.” With this more complete definition of shalom, let’s look a little more closely at some of the places it is
mentioned in the Word to see the many wonderful things included in our covenant of peace.
Purchased on the Cross
Look first at Isaiah 53:4-5, where the suffering and death of Jesus, the Messiah, is prophesied: Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole (The Amplified Bible). One of the things I want you to notice is that Jesus carried some things for us. He carried sickness and pain, so we could be healed. He carried wounds for our transgressions and iniquities, so we could be forgiven. And He carried chastisement so we could obtain peace (shalom). Jesus left nothing out. He bore the curse for man so we could be whole and live in peace—spirit, soul and body. This is exactly why 1 Thessalonians 5:23 says, “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Jesus died to redeem the whole person from the curse of the law. Yes, of course, He redeems your spirit. But He also redeems your mind. He redeems your emotions. And He redeems your body. When you have a covenant with “the God of peace,” you can expect every area of your life to be complete and whole. Let’s take a look at a few of these areas and see what a difference true peace makes.
Shalom in Your Finances
I mentioned that the word shalom is sometimes translated “prosperity.” If you think about it, you’ll understand why. There’s nothing peaceful about not being able to pay your bills. You can’t have peace if your needs aren’t being met. To experience lack is to be incomplete. Something vital is missing.

When you have a covenant with
“the God of peace,”you can expect every area of your life to be complete and whole.
When you owe someone money, that person is incomplete until you can pay your debt. We see this in some of the translations of shalam, the root word in Hebrew from which shalom comes: “recompense,” “restore,” “repay” or “be complete.” Living in God’s covenant of peace means you have a right to expect “nothing missing” where your finances are concerned.
highest plans and purposes for your life. It’s hard to be a blessing to others. You’re not thinking of serving the needs of others. If, as you’re reading this, you’re battling sickness or pain in your body, start seeing yourself as the Scripture sees you—whole and complete. The chastisement necessary to purchase your shalom was laid upon Jesus. He paid the price for you to have peace in your body.
Shalom Relationships
Shalom Living
Now think about your relationships for a moment. God wants all your relationships to be in a state of harmony with no division or strife or tension—in other words—peaceful. If your relationships are torn by strife, there’s something broken, isn’t there? Instead of being at rest around your friends or family, you have tension. There may be subjects you don’t dare bring up. When the curse is in full manifestation, you can even become alienated completely from someone you love. Someone you care about can be removed from your life altogether. Talk about having something missing and broken! But when the sweet peace of God is extended to your relationships, you have harmony, wholeness and completeness throughout this area of your life. This is especially true where the salvation of your loved ones is concerned. You can lay claim to your rights under your covenant of peace to bring your entire family into the kingdom of God. (He’s even more interested in their salvation than you are.) He wants to make your family whole.
Shalom in Your Body
Finally, I want you to see how the peace of God can and should extend to the physical part of who you are. As we just saw in Isaiah 53, Jesus carried our sickness so we could enjoy health. And He carried the chastisement necessary for us to attain peace. These two things go together because few things are less peaceful than being sick in your body. What could be more the opposite of “nothing missing, nothing broken” than pain or disease? When sickness is present, it’s difficult to look forward to spending time with God. It’s a struggle to walk out His 30 |

OK, Gloria, you may be thinking, I’m convinced! But how do I extend God’s peace to all these areas of my life? That’s a fair question. We need to find out how to go from knowing about shalom to living it. And we can! We find some important keys to extending the peace of God to every area of our lives in one of the most peacefilled chapters in all of God’s Word. Psalm 91 describes a place in God of total trust and a peace so complete that nothing can touch you. For example, look at the first two verses: “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!” (The Amplified Bible). The rest of the chapter describes the glorious protection and peace (shalom) that you will experience as a result of dwelling “in the secret place” and saying and believing the Lord is your refuge. Dwelling in the secret place and abiding under the shadow of the Almighty are permanent, ongoing conditions. When you abide in something, you’re not in and out. You live there. You can live in God’s own shadow by letting the Word of God abide in your heart and come out of your mouth. As Jesus said in John 15:7: “If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you” (The Amplified Bible). You know you’re abiding in that place when the Word is the first thing to pop out of your mouth when you’re shaken. When you have pain, your first thought is not, Where’s the
medicine, but By His stripes I’m healed. When it appears you A Bright, Peaceful Future don’t have enough money to pay your bills, you don’t even As you look toward the days ahead, think about your think about failure but rather declare “all my needs are met covenant of peace. V ictor y essential key to extending your precious covenant of peace to every area of life. Back when our children were young, Ken and I started speaking a wonderful “peace” promise over them. It’s found in Isaiah 54 where, earlier, we learned about our covenant of peace that will outlast the mountains. Just a few verses down we read: “And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children. No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper” (Isaiah 54:13, 17). We stood on that. We claimed it. We spoke it. And we believed it. “Great shall be the peace of our children!” This means that they shall be whole, complete, lacking nothing and have great well-being.
