SEVEN STONES Indigenous wellness centre in Yellowknife, NWT
4
The gathering together of the Seven Stones addresses the challenge of bringing together the diversity and geographical dispersion of the Aboriginal people in the Northwest Territories. Exposed bedrock is a ubiquitous and beautiful feature in the landscape, and the territory is home to the oldest surface geology in the world. Stone here has an unparalleled capacity for the storage of time; it was here long before us and will remain after we are gone. Aboriginal groups both above and below the treeline have leveraged the capacity of stone to provide way nding on a barren landscape, store hunting caches for future need, provide heat and healing, and to provide a strong foundation on which to build community.
The SEVEN STONES in this project are programmed to provide a link to the past while showing a way towards the future. The diversity of the forms and programs in the Seven Stones are linked together by a mortar that supports the processes and programs dedicated to wellness. Together the stones and mortar encircle a natural rocky outcrop in the site, enhancing the spatial quality of the landscape and reinforcing a sense of belonging where the many are brought together to form a community. In collaboration with Genevieve Simms for Mason White

SKUNKWORKS
12
Modular research pod system for Ultan Byrne with Tristan Crawfod
A propositional system of multi-use research pods to be deployed across the University of Toronto St. George Campus, SKUNKWORKS developed from research on para-architectural phenomena in and around campus. Extensive design research ranging from elemental tectonic details, materials sourcing, to principles of aggregation and placement with regards to street frontage and construction / services accessibility was undertaken. Customized elements were designed to a high degree of resolution, enabling multiple conditions of glazing and access, as well as a variety of interior layouts and equipment outfitting. Panel marries ISOstandard container system with standard North American scaffolding, allowing for a highly scalable system for massing, circulation, and services delivery.

SUPERCULTURE Intensive urban farming along Toronto's Allen Road
16
Greenhouse + growing spaces
Traditional residential perimeter block
Facing very real future conditions of mass population movement towards cities coupled with climate-driven decreases in crop yields, it is becoming imperative to test the miscibility of of large-scale food production with traditional urban form. SUPERCULTURE leverages existing transportation infrastructure and topographical conditions along Toronto's Allen Road to create an infrastructural spine that facilitates industrial-scale food production and distribution.
Taking precedent from Cedric Price's 1964 Potteries Thinkbelt project, SUPERCULTURE operates on the premise that new models of urban food production can kick-start a diverse knowledge economy and increase the profile of local food culture. The vertically-integrated scheme enfolds production, research, labour, habitation, and distribution. Right Exploded axonometric of a mixeduse residential block with integrated greenhouse space.

PEDAGOGICAL LANDSCAPE R. C. Harris Water Education and Aquatics Centre
An aexpansion of the historical R.C. Harris Water Treatment Centre, the WEC takes the form of a series of exhibition spaces that take visitors on an ocsillating path that engages existing mechanical facilities and Lake Ontario. Intervening in the existing seawall, the new facilities rise in sequence as an island, peninsula, and bay, creating a pedagogical lanscape that engages the history of the site and Toronto’s embodied connection to the Great Lakes system.
