THE

POCKET GUIDE

GET THE FACTS: Over 11,000 women under age 40 will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the U.S. this year, and 1.4 million globally. Men can and do get breast cancer! Approximately 1% of all breast cancer cases are men; more than 2,000 per year in the U.S. alone. Checking your breasts once a month, three to five days after your period ends, is the best time. This is when your body will be the most normal to you.

CHECK YOUR SELF! Getting to know your own body and knowing what is normal to you is the whole point of doing a self breast exam once per month! Start with a visual exam, look for anything not normal to you. ( lumps, bulging, dimpling, discoloration, nipple changes or discharge ) Use three fingers to feel for changes. Start at the breast bone and feel all the way to the inside of your arm, including your armpit. Report any changes in your breasts to your doctor.
