EDITOR’S NOTE By Israel Vargas
Issue #8 is nally upon us. For the past few months we’ve been out here traveling and visiting everything from the west coast all the way to the east. Keping It Bully Magazine was founded in the midwest and it constantly amazes me how people connect and embrace us everywhere we go. It feels very good to be one of the few sources of information for the American Bully community. We wake up every morning like your regular joe, we clock into the office and we try to deliver as much as we can to do more for the breed and just keep positivty and progression owing for us all! Our last issue had super model Coco Chanel gracing the cover... The love we recieved from our supporters and her supporters was immense! Tons of bully lovers reaching out to us and telling us how much they enjoyed the issue. We knew that we would have to do it even bigger and better for issue #8 so we sat down and thought about how we could do that for our supporters. In this issue you can expect a lot! We dedicated this issue to all of the blue collar breeders out there who have amazing programs based on patience, ethics, and true love for the breed and what they do. We’re delivering a special edition double cover issue for all of our supporters out there. Featuring Spartan Built Bullies Vin Diesel on one cover and Double D’s Bully Style Pits Lucky Luciano on the second one. Including coverage on the Texas Exotics media group, tons of upcoming shows, even more show pictures, reviews, information on new registries, the latest trends in the bully community, and much more! We hope you guys enjoy this issue just as much as we enjoyed putting it together for you. Thanks to all of our supporters who continue to subscribe, order, and share their stories with us. We really do appreciate it. Issue #9 will be even better!

aginaw, Michigan where Marcos Gomez and his American Bully Meatloaf reside. Believe it or not Meatloaf came from friend of Marcos who felt Marco was the best owner for Meatloaf and the rest is history. As soon as we met Meatloaf we realized he was definitely a Star. Just ask his owner, who says he would rate Meatloaf a ten for an American Bully. He has great structure and movement, a ton of drive and great temperament. We decided to ask Meatloaf ’s owner Gomez a few questions to get to know when his love for the American Bullys started. Gomez when on and says he has always had love for Dogs. He is a breeder who enjoys breeding American Bullies but also enjoys their companionship. Seven years ago Gomez started noticing a vast change in the Pit bull World. He then researched online about the American Bully breed and started asking questions to other breeders. He gravitated more toward the American Bully but still has love for the original working dog the American Pit bull Terrier. Fast forward to today Meatloaf demonstrates to be a Leader among other dogs . Meatloaf is small but dominant and loved by the females. Gomez is excited about this 2016 year as Meatloaf ’s productions grow. In the future Gomez plans to take Meatloaf to future upcoming shows and to be more involved with the Bully Community. He will like for others to see Meatloaf up close for themselves because he believes social media and photos don’t do him as must justice. We are also excited to see Meatloaf in the future again. Gomez represents Black Diamond Bully team which he started with his friend Mario who has always been there for him . With the awesome support of his family and friends like Chuck, Jay, and Tabitha to name a few . All from Michigan. Gomez feels proud of his program and wants to keep workings towards a better tomorrow. His biggest inspiration is his Father. Going thru the difficult time of losing a loved one showed him not to take anything for granted . And that’s why he will like to help his children become wrestling state champions while they attend Northern Elite Pit bull Academy. Marcos Gomez Feels that success is measured by
yourself and what you take pride in doing.
Bobby Heumann First and foremost I would like to give a big thank you to Keeping It Bully Magazine for allowing me to be apart of this magazine and letting me write a little section about myself. For those of you who don’t know me my name is Bobby “Styles” Heumann I have been in the bully game for about 2.5 years but have been involved with dogs almost my whole life. I first got into the bully game and showing dogs back in 2013 when I almost bought a puppy from this man Antonio McClenny unfortunately I was unable to buy said puppy but he invited me out to a show and ever since then I was hooked. I first started showing in the RKC just handling random dogs to whoever would give me a chance and asking questions over and over trying to better myself as a handler, turns out I was just a natural and picked things up very quickly. Within my first year of handling dogs I champed out two dogs and earned multiple majors and the majority of points for certain dogs. Towards the end of 2013 the beginning of 2014 I bought my first bully from Brian Peterson who is now my kennel partner he saw my drive and passion for the breed and asked me and another guy Sean Heffernan to team up and join Hudson Valley Bullies and the World Bullie Association, the rest is history. The whole 2014-2015 year I showed and campaigned many dogs and finally decided to take myself seriously as a handler and started charging people for my assistance. I started researching more and more took AKC handling classes bought books and researched everything I could and now I would like to say I have developed a good reputation within the dog community. Within the 2016 year I have quite a few dogs I will be campaigning including two of my own and Champion Casanova who is one win from Grand Champion title and the main stud within our camp. I would like to give a big thank you to everyone that has been there and supported me I don’t need to name names they know who they are. Also to anyone who is looking for a handler and someone who keeps it extremely professional and will treat your dog’s with the utmost respect contact me and let’s get your dog’s shown to their full potential.
On my way to the number 1 spot 2016
My name is Caitlin O’Neal and this is my story.
I started showing dogs in the 4-H dog obedience project. I learned a lot about obedience work, agility and showmanship. Showmanship began to be one of my favorite things’ to learn. I started the project back in 19981999. By the time I finished my 4-H career I was one of the top Sr. Showmanship winners, also placing very well at State Fair level, out of 100s of kids. I always wanted to do something with dogs when I was older. Life got crazy and I took a little break until just the past couple of years. The past couple of years I started getting back into dogs, Bullies specifically, thanks to my fiancé Matt Baker. He introduced me to APBTs and then we started getting into bullies. I started showing in the ABKC show ring just a little over a year ago. I champed out two of our main dogs when they were both 11 months old. I have several client dogs I show as well and almost have one of them champed out too. Its been a whirlwind of a year, and 2016 is looking very promising! We have some new show prospects and more client dogs to work with. I intend on showing dogs in different registries as well. I am hoping to be one of the top handlers in the country over the next year or two. Its a serious passion of mine. I love being in the ring and handling dogs and meeting new people. I feel like I’ve accomplished quite a bit over this last year with just getting into the bully world, and there is much more to come. Feel free to find and contact me on Facebook with any questions or say Hi to me at a show! Thank you! :)

KIB SHOW REVIEW: BULLY BEACH EXPO Bully’s? Beach? How much better than this does it get? The Bully Beach Expo in South Padre Island was nothing short of a 5 star event! There were so many people that showed up to this event from all across the country. Javie Soze and his EOG (Edge of Gottiline) family put together an amazing event. Each winner took home a beyond extravagant trophy or prize. The trophies at this event were top notch! So many kennels showed up for this event... But the biggest attraction to this event would have to be The Bullycampline showing up/showing out! Sharing table reservation space with EOG (Edge of Gottiline) and Interstate Bullies. These kennels br brought out dogs that people have been dying to see in person for a very long time. As if that wasn’t enough attraction to the event, the event itself was held at the South Padre Island Convention Center... On an actual island. In addition, a quick break was taken from the event for a full out concert! The Bully Beach Expo was an ABR sanctioned show. It was the rst ABR sanctioned show we have attended. The ABR is a new registry founded by Peter Banuelos (former owner of Bullseye) and Jorge Luis Soto (owner of Mr. Miagi). The event was judged by Jason Higbee of Higbee Kennels. We had a blast, the weather was amazing, the vibes were good, and the dogs were out. We’d like to give a huge thank you to everyone who came out and kept it bully with us! We can’t wait until the next Bully Beach Expo. Until next time.
03/07/2015 SANTA CLARITA, CA
KIB SHOW REVIEW: FLING BLING 2 We rarely attend shows this big, better yet, we’ve never attended a show this big. The Santa Clarita Fling Bling 2 was a 100% sold out event ! Thousands of people were in attendance. Almost an upwards of 200+ kennels with some of the most prominent names in the game. Special guests included the following: Ed Shepherd, Polo Hererra, Jorge Luis Soto, Peter Banuelos, and more. Word around town is that mostly all West Coast events are as big as the Fling Bling 2. There is a lot of support in the bully community out west and we were very lucky to be able to experience that rst hand at this event. At this event we had an opportunity to meet some legends and their owners in person. Alongside us hosting, we had Ralphy from Double SS Kennels as our co-host! This event was lled with multiple activities for everyone to participate in, keeping the families and children entertained the entire time! It gets better, the food and catering at this event was some of the most well prepared and delicious we’ve ever tasted. As you may know by now, Keeping It Bully Magazine is based out of the Midwest and we felt right at home at this event! We had tons of Midwest kennels who traveled all the way to California for this event. Two big names in the Midwest walked away with some of the biggest awards of the event. Papo of Boss Made Bullies (owner of Devil’s Spit) walked away with the trophy for ‘Best Bullseye Blood’ awarded by Peter Banuelos. Nico Morada of Rock Solid Style Bullies (owner of Skittles) walked away with ’Best Dax Bloo Blood’ awarded by Ed Shepherd himself. Needless to say, the Fling Bling 2 was an amazing event and we had an awesome time. An easy 5 star event in our book! Nothing like that California love.
02/21/2015 CEDAR RAPIDS, IA
KIB SHOW REVIEW: AM BULLY VS EXOTIC EXPO At this event we had special guest Kung Fu Panda from The Bullycamplinecoming in all the way from California. This show was coordinated by Sam Aossey from Hard Drive Bullies. This was a small event in the middle of nowhere, we were surprised to see such a great turn out even with the location and where it was. This event was judged by Alex Ferraro of Double D’s Bully Style Pits. We believe at this event there was deenitely a lot of bonding between the people attending. With small events like these there is a lot of close encounter and people spending more time with each other and congregating. Events like these are important so that the bully community doesn’t lose it’s family like charm th smaller markets can also grow into a bully destination. and so that Cedar Rapids was kind to us and the people there were very humble. Well put together show we’d love to attend again!
04/11/2015 ELKHART, IN
KIB SHOW REVIEW: MIDWEST SPRING BLING Once again here we are with another show review for the people! This time in Elkhart, Indiana for the Midwest Spring Bling hosted by George Bostic Jr. of B Blessed Bullies. These guys went all out with a 5 star venue, 5 star awards, followed by a 5 star barbecue. There was even free food and activities for the children as well. Some very big kennels in the building, what most impressed us about this event was the time and dedication these kennels took to set up their booth presentations. Some booths had couches, 50 inch at screens, Playstation 4’s, pretty much anything you can imagine in a game room or living area! Such kennels included Tha Lounge, Team Midwest, Chicago New Style Bullie Savage City Kennels, Celeb Bullies, and more. Bullies, This was a double IBKC event judged by John Easterly and Dayton Bodine. The weather for this event was amazing, creating an awesome atmosphere between the outside barbecue, the facility landscape, and the event indoors. There were tons of IBKC embelishments on banners, tablecloths, posters, even apparel. This event was deenitely structured and one of the best we’ve attended in the Midwest thus far. Indiana was great to us, we would like to thank George Bostic Jr. and his staff for having us come out and cover this amazing event! Deenitely a 5 star event and KIB certiied.
08/16/2014 MANDEVILLE, LA
KIB SHOW REVIEW: BAYOU BULLY BASH 2 Louisiana was great to us once again! The rst time we came out to host the Bayou Bully Bash, last year we were invited for the second installment and boy was it great. The weather was hot, the air was humid, and the bullies were out. Show judges Errol Bodden, Rodrigo Silva, and Ty Lumley were on their A-game. There were three magazines in the house as well.... AtomicDogg Magazine, Stack’d Up Magazine, and of course Keeping It Bully Magazine! Last year the Bayou Bully Bash 2 was held at the Castine Center in Mandeville, LA, a huge upgrade from the previous year’s venue, and everything was ran smoothly by reps Pearlina Bodden and Chasity White. Sh Show hosts Rod and Susette of CanAm bullies are deenitely some of the greatest people we’ve met in the bully community. Their heart is truly set on and dedicated to putting on the best event in New Orleans year after year. Setting the bar higher every time and outdoing themselves. We can’t wait until we hit New Orleans next! You’ll either catch us on Bourbon Street or the Bayou Bully Bash. Deenitely a 5 star event for the second year in a row.
KIB SHOW REVIEW: Bully BBQ KIB here again with another show review. This time it was just a small B.B.Q in a small town called Yorkville, IL. After having to postpone the show because of bad weather, we finnally had our show. It was one of the hottest days of the summer. We had great food and so much fun with everyone that attended. We didnt forget the children, theyhad bounce house to entertain themselves. It was an IBKC show with about 45 dogs. Special guest in the House Mr. West Coast. A total of 181 people attendend the event which also included small Car Show. It was a great time and very well put together event but we will have to rate it a 3 star overall because of the poor turn out. We will like to give a special thanks to Alfonzo Perez.
LAST WORD Keeping It Bully Magazine staff & resources
That concludes our issue #8 presentation! We’d like to thank everyone who was a part of it for helping out and making this the best issue of KIB till date. Huge thanks to Spartan Built Bullies, Double D’s Bully Style Pits, Insterstate Bullies, Texas Exotics, James Aba, and more! From beginning until the end of this issue we tried to embody and understand the mission of what it means to be a silent breeder. People who work in silence but let their actions speak for them! Constantly reening their programs and making small adjustments to reach their goals as breeders and business men. We think we did that just right. For our next issue we have even more ambitious plans. We’ve been working on getting some major sponsorships for Keeping It Bully Magazine and things have been working out awesomely. We keep it 100% honest with our supporters, but sometimes, you can’t spill all the beans. But we will give you a hint. In issue #9 of Keeping It Bully Magazine we’ll be featuring a deadly duo of ghters that overcame adversity in and out of the ring! Now, they have taken over mainstream air waves, made headlines, and started a legacy which will last long after they’re gone. Also in our next issue, we will almost double our page count and have more to offer you guys as far as content goes. More show reviews, pictures, articles, and a few new feature pieces that will focus solely on the newest trends and facts of the bully breed. Thank you guys for always supporting us and what we do.
