Alysha from the moment you became my girlfriend you also became my best friend and you are soon going to be my wife, and I just want to thank you for agreeing to be my wife. You are such an amazing person, from our first date at grangers, you made me feel so happy, even though I was ver y ner vous that day. Whenever I saw you there would always be a feeling that rushes through my body, that would make me feel like the luckiest man alive. The more and more I saw you that same feeling would make me fall more and more in love with you. You have got such a kind hear t, you are creative, ver y smar t and you have a big love for animals. Father of the Bride’s Speech
Good evening family and friends, new family and a translation for the south africans “our people”. I’m Paul Alysha’s dad and if you didn’t know that you’re in the wrong place. Well what a year we have had. Finally we have got to the event of the year rain free and without being in a lockdown. Alysha when you were born you stole my hear t and were daddy’s little princess. You were so beautiful I told ever yone I was going out to buy a shotgun to keep all the boys away, well that didn’t work and that’s a good thing. Despite Ryan’s flaws, being a Manchester United and Springbok suppor ter. Over the last few years we have seen the kindness and how considerate Ryan is to ever yone, especially Alysha. We have seen them grow together into a true couple. Jacqueline and I are ver y proud to officially welcome him into the family. As I look at my daughter, the bride I can’t help but reflect on all the years I was lucky enough to watch her grow up and become the beautiful, kind and considerate young woman she is today. She was my little girl, my princess and no matter how old she is, those things will never go away. I can’t help but reflect on the girl she was and the woman she has become. All through her life she has brought joy to Jacqueline and I, although ever y day has not been perfect the love we feel for her has been. Today is a new beginning as Alysha and Ryan star t a brand new chapter in their life. Not moving too far away they have bought a caravan and parked it in the back garden. 23a Travers Place! Victoria’s Speech
Hi, I am Victoria I am Alysha’s not so little sister. I am maybe a little bit taller. I am so proud of my sister as today she has reached one of the most amazing and special days of her life. Since day one she’s been suppor tive, loving and a caring person, not only to her family and her friends but now as a job she brings joy to many many more people. I’m so glad she is now with Ryan as she is really really happy. Even when I was little my sister has always been there and she turns up to ever ything. She is a strong hear ted person and willing to do anything. I’m so glad you found someone that brings joy and happiness even if he suppor ts the wrong soccer team. I am so glad that we get to accept more people into our family, because of you two we found some more people to join our family. I love you both so ver y much and I wish you all the best for the future to be filled with happiness and joy.
Michaela’s Speech
For those of you who don’t know I am Ryan’s sister Michaela. Just like any brother and sister we can drive each other crazy sometimes, but honestly, I could literally have never, ever, ever asked for a better brother. He has always protected me and had my back since the ver y beginning. When we were kids, much younger, I can’t even remember that’s how young. I was getting a blood test taken for something and I was cr ying because well no one likes blood tests, Ryan barges in and he didn’t only argue or yell and the nurses, no, that wasn’t enough for him. He star ted to physically fight the nurses because they were hur ting me so much so that he had to be taken out the room. Thank you so much for always having my back, you truly are one of a kind. I love you so much I have no idea what I would do without you. The first time I met Alysha was definitely interesting, this was back when I was still in film school. So, most days when I came home, I was rocking my usual hobo attire of hoodie shoes half off shoes, hair a mess etc which was no problem for me I loved it. However not necessarily what you want to be wearing when you first meet your brother’s new girlfriend. Anyway, Ryan and I were on our way home and he casually mentions, “Oh by the way wear going to pick up my new girlfriend who you have never met on the way home”. Alysha gets in the car and Ryan says, “Oh by the way this is my little sister Michaela”, it turns out she had no idea I was in the car either. Cut to today and Alysha is a really amazing friend and now sister of mine. I’ve gained a whole new side to my family and I’m so happy about it. I’m so excited for you two amazing people to grow and have a life and future together. I wish you all the absolute best for your future. Love you two and Congratulations!!
Best Man’s Speech
Good evening family and friends. For those that don’t know me my name is Ryan... not ever y day you’ll get to have that at a wedding, Ryan as the groom and also Ryan as the best man. I hope you guys are all having a great time and continue to have a great time as the evening progresses. I would also like to completely apologise in advance if I in any way ruin that in the next five minutes. Speaking of five minutes, it’s often said that the best man’s speech is the worst five minutes of a bride’s life, I’m also told that the worst 5 minutes of Ryan’s life comes later on when all the guests have gone home. Before I star t there are a few people I would like to thank. Firstly, Paul, Jacqueline, Sean and Yolanda, for without them today would not be possible. The bridal par ty, after months and months we are finally here, boys we look smashing and girls you all look beautiful. Now onto Ryan. I’ve known Ryan for roughly 5 years, and he has specifically chosen me to speak today because I obviously mean a lot to him and I know this is my oppor tunity to tell you about how handsome, brilliant, funny and car.... Ryan I can’t read your handwriting what’s this last word. I first met Ryan in our Year 13 physics class.... oh, what fun that was. I was just sitting there minding my own business when I heard the door behind me creek open like something from a horror movie and in came this tall awkward shy guy walking to the front of the class and obviously I look next to me and what do I see, an empty desk. All I could think to myself was “shit” .... and just like that I was the babysitter, showing Ryan around the school. For all of you that don’t know Ryan and I have been a par t of many different friend groups over the years slowly maturing through each one however they have all taught us lessons over the years. For me it has taught me to not love so easily and I guess after seeing my horrific relationships, Ryan learnt to stay single. As teenagers Ryan and I spent our time messing around in physics class, playing video games and drinking on weekends with our mates. All I have to say about those weekends is shit happens. Looking back at how you’ve grown up is scar y. From a shy innocent guy to someone who speaks his mind, is strong, loving, caring and now married! Where has the time gone? Youve finished your degree and have your whole life ahead of you! Ryan your traits inspire me to be a better guy. You’re enthusiastic, strong willed and you’re always there for your friends no matter what and I can see you get those qualities from your parents. Sean and Yolanda once again thank you for welcoming not only me but all of Ryan’s friends into your lives and your home and treating us as if we were your own, it does not go unnoticed. Ryan. I like to think that in times when you have called me up for help, I have always been there and not let you down, I only do this because I know, you’ll always be there for me. I look back at the stuff we have done, and it makes me happy to know I have a friend like you. Alysha, you look absolutely amazing today as we knew you would. I hope you are enjoying your day as much as we are... otherwise I’d be a bit concerned. You and Ryan have found happiness in each other and that’s all your closest friends and family could ever wish for you both. Good evening ladies and gentlemen for those who don’t know me I am Sean, Ryan’s Dad. It has been a privilege and great pleasure to have raised Ryan, he is a ver y kind, caring and amazing individual. He has always had a ver y strong moral compass from a young age. He loved animals and they loved him back and as young boy he excelled in maths and loved soccer and cricket. I have truly enjoyed the father and son time we have had over the years whether it was being his soccer coach or just sitting on the side of the cricket pitch. These moments have been like gold. I have tried to spend as much time as I could being there for him because your children are only young once I did not want to miss a thing. Your mom and I are both ver y proud of what you have become. Alysha you look amazing today, it has also been a pleasure having you in Ryan’s life. You have become a strong positive influence and for that I thank you. It is great to see how you both do ever ything together and as long as you both have each other’s best interests at hear t the rest will sor t itself out. We welcome you into the Hilder family. Thank you Paul and Jacqueline for all you have done to make Ryan feel at home and for all you have done to make this wedding the success it is. Covid has affected all of our lives and it has not allowed any of our family to attend this happy day. However, they have all sent us a shor t video clip wishing Alysha and Ryan well and a few pearls of wisdom. Michaela has put them all together for us. I hope you all enjoy.
Yolanda’s Blessing
God, we are gathered here to celebrate this special day and thank you for the marriage vows that have been exchanged between Ryan & Alysha. We pray for your blessing on their shared commitment to each other and pray that your lasting grace and peace would rest on their future life together. Thank you for the many friends and family members who have been able to suppor t the happy couple in person, as they make their life-long commitment to one another, and for the fellowship that we are all enjoying around this meal table. We ask for your blessing on this first meal that they will share together as man and wife and pray for your continued blessing on their future life together.
