Nicks Vows

Hey cutie, we’ve finally made it.

I was unsure the first time I met you, but little did I know that in less than two years I would be marrying you. And I’ve never been more certain now that you are the one for me. You bring so much happiness and laughter into my life, you are the OG comedic genius, and I promise to always keep you smiling till the end.

I promise to always annoy you with my business ideas and listen to your advice even if I don’t always take it.

From cute coffee dates to late night workouts and everything in between, I promise to be by your side forever. I love you.

Himisha’s Vows

Bobs, where do I start? You came into my life when I had given up on finding the one, and was ready to settle for less. But I now know god had other plans for me. I met you when you were at your lowest point in life after your dad had just passed away, but that didn’t stop you from making time for me, always making me laugh and smile like a goofball. And to this day the laughs have not stopped. Loud, Hysterical, and uncontrollable at times.

And it’s because of you I know what real love is, it’s easy, it’s warm and covers you like a blanket on a cold winters night and it’s forever. And in this forever, I promise to always watch how much coffee and pre workout you drink because you’re a caffeine addict. I promise to get you to watch football and support Liverpool like I do! I promise nudge you off the bed when your snores become too loud. And I promise be there when you need a shoulder to cry on after an intense leg day workout.

But most importantly I promise to love you with everything I have, respect you the way you respect me and be your best friend till our last days. I love you with all that I have and cannot wait for our forever to begin today.

Vinish’s speech

Hello, my name is Vinish. I am the youngest brother of Himisha, himali and Viraj (by 10 minutes). I had a long speech prepared but my siblings have already said most of it so copy and paste what they said.

Himisha and I have a 6 year age gap. Growing up, Himisha and I had a very interesting relationship. Like all siblings, we had our laughs and squabbles. Most of the time himisha and I’s relationship has been chill but there have been a few fights over the years. I can’t remember what the fights were about but a recent fight was because me and my siblings kept forgetting our house key late at night so we would call himisha to open the door. Himisha then told us to always carry our house keys because she was tired of having to open the door. One afternoon I forgot my house key and himisha started yelling at me which may or may not have resulted in me yelling back and throwing the house key at her. But guess what, later that week I hear the door bell ring and guess who forgot their house key - Himisha.

When we were younger, Himisha was always too cool to hangout with my brother. I remember one time when Himisha was in highschool there was a Christmas float that she had to help out with her friends. I was around 10 or 11 and one of her friends said “I didn’t know you had a little brother, he’s so cute”. I think Himisha had one word to say to that and that was ew. Because Himisha was the oldest, everything was always done her way and she always got what she wanted. This meant my siblings and I always had to watch what she wanted, whenever we went to the dvd store she would pick some the movies and 90% of the time they were chick flicks. This has been a very long and stressful week for us all being our family’s first wedding. A lot of laughing, tears and arguing.

In typical Indian fashion we have also had a full house with various family members staying at our house which means a lot of fun sleeping arrangements seeing how many people we can fit into one room. I have been sharing a room with my cousins Henali and Nikhil and while I love them they both snore very loudly and I’m a light sleeper. There was one night in particular where Nikhil was snoring so loud that my ear plugs didn’t even work. So at around 2am I had had enough and decided to go downstairs to my brothers room because he was staying at the shop. When I went down I saw someone was already in the bed and I thought who the heck was in there and then suddenly I hear Himisha’s voice saying what are you doing. I said I can’t sleep because Nikhil’s snoring. I then asked what are you doing and she said I couldn’t sleep because Himali was snoring.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you to Himisha. You are a great sister, just Julum. You have always been a very caring and considerate sister and daughter looking after us all. We hear how our parents had to walk 50 miles barefoot to get to school. I guess your story will be how our parents made you work in the shop since you were 13. You are always the first to volunteer at work a double shift at the shop when it’s a public holiday or be there for our parents during difficult times. Mum and Dad joke about how they are going to leave everything to you in their will and now being older I understand why. It’s going to be very weird and sad not living with you. From the moment I was born you have been there for me for the past 26 years. But I know you need to start this next chapter in your life so I wish you and Nick all the best for your future.

Himali’s speech

Hello, jai shree krishna, Sri ram

For those who don’t know me, my name is Himali and I am Himisha’s younger sister. I was going to be doing a long speech but I’m a bit sick and can’t talk for long which is lucky enough for Himisha otherwise I would have had a lot of funny stories to tell. I firstly wanted to start by saying thank you all for coming especially those who have travelled from overseas to my sister and new jijas wedding I know it meant a lot to the both of them and our families.

We have all been waiting for this day for quite some time now and it’s finally here. Himisha is now leaving us for her new family. All I can say is I’ve been around Nick and his family for over a year now and they are one of the best families I have met and I am glad Himisha is moving into a family with good values and traditions. Jaan you better be there for Himisha when she needs help changing her clothes or doing her hair. Biju you now have to take on the role of annoying Himisha for me since I won’t be there every day to do it, Vanita masi make sure Himisha learns how to make your matter paneer because it’s one of the best I’ve had. And lastly shuri please make sure you look after my sister and that you are there for her night and day, I’m sure that won’t be hard as I’ve already seen you do that.

I have a lot of fond memories with my sister, whether it be just when it was just the two of us before my brothers came along and stole our spotlight. When Himisha used to be the third wheel with me and Bhavin and now it’s me being the third wheel with Himisha and Nick. From Himisha and I fighting like crazy one day and ignoring each other for a few hours before one of us needs something and angrily asks the other. Some of my favourite times with Himisha have been when we went overseas whether it was us going to Fiji and spending time with our Dads side of the family there, or going to Australia and spending time with our Mums side. Or me and Himisha going to Singapore and Malaysia with Apiksha and Henali and having an amazing girls trip. However my two favourite trips would have been when me Himisha, Vinish and Viraj went to Hawaii and spent a whole week together hanging out and exploring Hawaii from snorkeling to going to kuoala ranch and posing with the dinosaurs. That was probably the most time the four of us siblings spent together. My other most favourite trip was our latest one to India. This was our first time and it was me, Himisha, my Mum, Nick and Vanita masi. We had a lot of fun on this trip with the bumpy drives to Nick driving the scooty with Himisha and mum at the back of him to the smelly bathrooms, to the countless hours shopping and the good food we ate. Us three shuris had a great time and some great conversations. I would just like to quickly say thank you again to Tinu Masi and Bharti Masi for looking after us while we were there, you made our trip so much more enjoyable.

I thought this was going to be a small speech but it’s longer than expected oops haha. I will leave it at this and say good luck shuri one and two with your new life. I’m sure it will be good. Just few things to remind you of. Don’t forget about me Mum and Dad, don’t worry about Vinish and Viraj lol. Make sure you come to the shop on Saturdays you can’t forget that, jk. Enjoy your new life without working in the shop. Hopefully it doesn’t last long for me Viraj and Vinish and hopefully Mum and Dad retire soon lol. Also don’t forget every Thursday I’ll be coming over to make Vanita masi pizza and himisha you can make it for jaan and biju. Shuri 2 can have both lol.

Once again thank you all for coming tonight! Enjoy the rest of the evening.

Reena’s speech

Good evening everyone im Reena, Himisha’s mum for those who don’t know me. On behalf of Naren and my family i’d like to welcome you all to Himisha and Nikunjs reception. As you all know Himisha is our first fruit of the tree and is precious to us. Looking at her im feeling so proud as my baby has grown up into a beautiful confident and hard working young lady. And especially for the last year how you have cared for me. I welcome Nikunj into the crazy bunch of Kumar’s. I have known Nikunj for the last 18 months and he is just like another son to us. Very kind caring and respectful. And I would also like to mention Vanita, Ben and family for being there for us and how happy we are to have them to have them join our family. Id like you all to join us in giving our blessings and best wishes to Nikunj and Himisha for their happy married life. And I would like to thank each and every one of you who have helped in any way shape of form. Thank you very much from the Kumar’s.

Raj + Tania’s speech

TANIA: Raj

RAJ: Mmm?

TANIA: What is love?

RAJ: (arms around neck and kiss on the cheek)

Pyaar….? Pyaar dosti hai

If she can’t be my best friend, I can’t be in love with her. Without friendship, there is no love.

Simple. Love is friendship

TANIA: Ladies and gentlemen boys and girls, aunties and uncles, Jai Shri krishna, namaste. My name is Tania and I am joined by nicks friend and my husband Raj. We will keep this short and sweet. Party ki raat hai, dil garden-garden ho jaye! Kyunki jahan party hai, wahan sab kuch hai - dance, daru, music, aur masti!

RAJ: Nick and himisha, where do I even begin? Well I should probably begin from the start init? With me being friends with nick and Tania being friends with himisha, tania and I saw that both were looking to settle down, but weren’t sure where to look. This got us thinking, I told tania that I have a friend, Nick, and tania told me she has a friend, Himisha. We saw this as an opportunity to bring these two love birds together. From there, nick and Himisha got in contact with each other, but both weren’t feeling it and were adamant on being only friends. From being just friends and saying I only get friend vibes to now standing here as a married couple. Who would have thought that when they first met, they’d end up moving from the friend zone to the end zone?

TANIA: As we celebrate the union of Nick and Himisha, we can’t help but be reminded of a certain iconic Bollywood movie, “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.” Jaise Rahul, Anjali se pyaar karte the, waise hi Nick aur Himisha bhi ek dusre se pyaar karne lage, aur unki dosti pyaar mein badal gayi.” Nick and Himisha, much like the characters in the movie, started off as the best of friends. They were the Rahul and Anjali of our own real-life love story, except with less basketball and more debates about who should add the other on Facebook first. Just like in the movie, there were missed opportunities and moments of unspoken feelings. I’m pretty sure there were a few “tum nahi samjhogi, Himisha” and “pyaar dosti hai, Nick” moments in there somewhere. But eventually, just like in the movies, they realized that their friendship had blossomed into something more beautiful than any Karan Johar movie.

RAJ: Nick, much like Rahul, finally came to his senses and realized that Himisha was the Anjali to his Rahul. And Himisha, much like Anjali, probably took forever to realize that the one she was looking for was right in front of her, making jokes, talking about his car, his business ideas or his funny work stories. Nick and himisha, you both look incredible, we are so happy for you, and honoured to be a part of your celebration. We love you. Marriage is a lot like a walk in the park… jurrasic park sometimes if you ask me. Nick, they say behind every successful man is a woman rolling her eyes and saying I told you so! So let’s all raise a toast for the groom for finally realising that his wife is always right.
