Dudley’s Vows
To my beautiful wife Jenny,
Here we are on our special day, surrounded by our closest friends and family, my mind racing with a million thoughts of how much I love you, and yet I am truly at a loss for what to say. Which annoys me a bit because I am usually pretty good at this sort of stuff.
Truth is I struggle to find the right words to express just how much you mean to me, how much fun and laughter you bring into my life, and how amazing it has been sharing these last nine years of our lives together.
So much has changed since the day we first shared a few too many teapots at cassette nine and bonded over our mutual admiration of Eminem, but my love for you and our shared weird sense of humour remains the same to this day.
I know It hasn’t been sunshine and rainbows always during our time together, and we have hit a few bumps along the way getting to where we are now, but I know that I wouldn’t wish to change a thing, and that together we can take care of any obstacle that gets in our way. I am not sure what else to say here except that I love you Little Chicken, you mean everything to me, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together, sleeping in on the weekends, surrounded by our fur babies and treating you to Iced Coffees, Sour lollies and Corn and Egg Toasties
Jenny’s Vows
I remember the first time we met, you were wearing that tight, black v-neck t-shirt and I immediately thought ‘yup, he bats for the other team’ as you were gently and weirdly caressing your chest. I can tell you now, 9 years later, that I was definitely wrong and this will probably be the only thing that I will admit that I was wrong about.
We’ve come a long way since then and have grown so much together. We’re not perfect, and we’re both pretty stubborn but look at what we’ve achieved so far. I have to say it’s been a pretty perfect imperfect to me.
Dudley Robertson Haines - I’ve never truly thanked you for being by my side these last 9 years. So, thank you. Thank you for making me laugh with your lame sense of humour - I’m still claiming I’m the funnier one in this relationship. For standing by my side when things got tough and giving me a nudge when I thought things were impossible, for putting forward a different perspective when I’m too stubborn to accept that other opinions exist, for being a great cat papa to Sandy and Sesame, and finally, as cliche as this is, thank you for loving me and showing me what it could be. I don’t want to speak too long as I’m probably either bawling my eyes out or cracking up laughing. Or both.
But, in front of all of our close friends and family who were able to make it today, I’m so happy to be finally marrying you and being able to call you my husband. I’m so happy and proud that I can stand next to you as we go through the next chapters of our life and I can’t imagine doing this with anyone else. I love you so much.
