NICK’S VOWS
Lia, You are my best friend, you are my human, you are my equal, my colleague, my work-wife…. you are my everything. 12 years we have been together and I have watched you grow into who you are today. You are so kind, you are so thoughtful. You are a brilliant doctor. You are a wonderful mother to our cats. You are a beautiful person inside and out and you still continue to amaze and surprise me to this day. I feel so lucky that you sat next to me in that lab class in 2009. We have had an amazing time together and I am excited for what is next for us.
I Nicholas John Leydon take you, Lia Marcella uit de Bosch to be my wife. I promise to love you until I take my last breath, to protect you from harm, to comfort you in your times of need, to dry your tears and calm your fears.
I promise to continue to watch Harry Potter, Pitch perfect and Magic Mike with you. On a far too regular basis.
I promise to be the best father I can be… to our 3 cats. And I promise to extend that to any non feline or feline children may we be fortunate enough to have in the future.
I promise to push you, inspire you and to make you my priority in life. The only exception being when the warriors next make the grand final. Lia, I love you. Always.
LIA’S VOWS
Nicholas,Firstly, I have tried my best to keep the cliches to a minimum but you know how much I love them and just because it is a cliche doesn’t mean it isn’t true. When I picked you out of a crowd of new University entrants I had no idea I would be picking the love of my life.
Whilst your good looks were what caught my attention that day (particularly your gorgeous blue eyes and of course that jaw line), it was your intelligence and personality that drew me in. Your chivalry of always holding the door open or offering for me to go first, the care you showed for your friends and family and your calm and easy nature that balanced my crazy had me falling quickly in love with you. We have been through so much together - growing in to adults, medical school, my struggles with anxiety, junior doctor years, travel and general practice training and throughout all this you and your support, steadiness, love and kindness have been a constant that I could rely on. I truly could not imagine my life and future without you in it.
If I can give just one example of how important you are to me it is this: we and probably everyone here knows how good I am at sleeping and you have become such an integral part of me that I can’t sleep properly without you there.12 years on and we are finally getting married despite a pandemic and you taking your sweet time to propose. I love you more than I could even put into words but hopefully these vows demonstrate the depth of my love.
I, Lia Marcella uit de Bosch, take you Nicholas John Leydon to be my lawfully wedded husband. I promise to be there to support you through all successes, failures and whatever life throws our way. I promise to respect your decisions even if they take forever or I don’t agree with them. I promise to care for you and our families in sickness and in health. I promise to continue to care for the cats with all the love I have and in future hope to spread that love to any children we are lucky enough to have. I promise to love you everyday for the rest of our lives.
