Sarah + Ryan

Sarah’s Vows Ryan, you have been my best friend, mentor, playmate, confidant, and my greatest challenge. You were my reason back then, my reason now, and my reason every day. You strengthen my weaknesses and bring focus to my dreams. Here and now, I pledge my life to yours, and that your dreams become my dreams. I promise to stand by you through good times and through bad. I promise to make you laugh when you are taking things too seriously. I promise to try and hug you first when you get home and not the dog (Macey). I promise to remind you to wipe out the shower and then remind you that you missed the handle. I promise to share the blankets with you and keep my cold feet to myself even if yours could warm me up. In your arms, I have found home. In your eyes, I have found compassion. In your heart, I have found love. In your soul, I have found a kindred sprit. You are my everything.. But most importantly you are the love of my life and you make me happier than I ever thought possible. No matter where life takes me, I know that as long as I have you there, I am where I am meant to be.

Ryan’s Vows Sarah, you are my best friend. You are my soulmate. Without you I wouldn’t know true love. I am grateful everyday for the bond we have created, and the growing we have done together. Side by side we have accomplished so much already. You have given me the support I’ve needed to follow my dreams and live our best lives. Our priorities and goals are always shifting, but you are the one thing that’s always consistent. The person I can rely on to pick me up when I fall, to stand by me to enjoy our successes and most importantly, be there to plan our next adventure. My commitments to you… I will continue to fix things around the house, within a reasonable timeframe. Try my best to learn how the household appliances work. And wipe out the shower, to my very high standard. Sarah, I promise to grow with you, to build my dreams around you and continue to honor you for who you are. I will be by your side to celebrate and enjoy the good times. I vow to always protect you from harm, to stand with you against your troubles, and look to you when I need protection. You are the person I want to spend the rest of my life with. I look forward to having a lifetime of small moments together.

Maid of Honour For those that don’t know me, my name is Danelle and I have been friends with Sarah since kindy. Not only did Sarah and I do a lot together growing up but our families did too. Over the years we’ve had many bbqs, sleepovers, time spent watching Kev and the boys sailing and even trips away camping - which I reckon Sheryl enjoyed the most! When we started intermediate we would bike together to school, but once we started high school it wasn’t cool to be seen on a bike so we’d just bike to the Tomlinson’s and ditch our bikes. We then graduated to getting our drivers licences and got cars. Sarah had a sweet Honda city as her first car and I have fond memories of cruising in the back while Sheryl was giving instruction. I thought Sarah was quite a good driver but this didn’t stop Sheryl stamping on the non existent brake and threatening to pull up the hand brake if she didn’t slow down! I didn’t think speed was really an issue for Sarah however, one time she did come to a complete stop at a green light! Once we were “allowed” to drive together without supervision we went all over the bay, even to the beach which is where we met Ryan. Being the teenage girls that we were, we decided to swim away from all the other beach goers so no one could see us. We were minding our own business when a rugby ball started getting closer and closer. 3 boys started approaching us, Ryan and 2 friends. After what I’m sure was great conversation and a number exchanged, a meeting was organised. I think from then with Ryan’s striking blue eyes and his contagious laugh, Sarah was hooked. I am so pleased that you both found your person that day. You have already achieved so much together. From traveling the world with just backpacks, building a beautiful home and now with the addition of your adorable fur baby Maisy. I think I speak for everyone when I say we are so happy to be here and can’t wait to see what’s in store for you next. Before we toast the bride and groom, just some advice for you Ryan - Sarah is always right, even when she’s not! If everyone could please raise your glass to the beautiful bride and handsome groom… To Sarah and Ryan!

Mother of the Groom Welcome everyone to the very longly anticipated wedding of Ryan & Sarah. It really is wonderful to finally be able to share this special day with you all, especially Kevin, Sheryl and family, and to officially welcome Sarah into our family. Watching Ryan and Sarah’s relationship grow has been a real privelage. They really are two of the most suited people we know. Their commitment to each other is outstanding. Over the years they have worked hard, travelled hard and built a beautiful home together. I remember long ago when Ryan first told us he had been at the beach stalking a girl called Sarah. It took a fair bit iof fishing on our part to get any info out of him but finally he spilt the beans. I think his worst nightmare came true when we said we not only knew of the Percy’s but we had a bit to do with each other socially. I’m pretty sure Sarah was just as horrified. Sarah, thankyou for loving our Son, treating him with such respect, consideration and patience. You are the most perfect daughter in law we could ask for. You are beautiful both inside and out. We are very grateful to have you join our family and you bring with you just the right amount of “weirdness” to fit in perfectly. Your Poppa would be very proud. Ryan, your father and I are extremely proud of the man you’ve become. You are hardworking, loyal and loving and we always know we can rely on you when help is needed or just to talk things throuhg, It’s amazing that you turned out so well! So everyone, lets raise our glass to Ryan and Sarah, and wish them both all the happiness, love and adventures that life has to offer. Our love and support is with you both always.

Ryan On behalf of my gorgeous wife and I, Thanks to you all so much for being here and making today even more special. Even with a bit of nerves, we have both been looking forward to today, and its finally here. We hope you are all enjoying the occasion as much as we are. Unfortunately, because of COVID we also have some close family and friends who aren’t able to be here today, And they are missed but not forgotten. Sarah and I have been lucky enough to surround ourselves with supportive friends and family. Thanks to you all very much for your kind wishes, presents and support. To both of our parents, We really appreciate your generosity in helping us to put today on, Especially the bar tab – So drink up everyone. Kev and Sheryl – Over the years we have got to know each other, travel together and laugh at one another. Through all of this we have created a strong bond which I am proud of. You have welcomed me into your family And trusted me with your only daughter, For this I am extremely grateful. Today I am not only getting a wife but I am gaining parents, grandparents, brothers and friends. You have created an amazing daughter. You should be so proud. Now my lucky parents, Mum and Dad One son, one chance, I think you hit the jackpot. You are so lucky…. But really – Thanks for putting up with me all these years, and the gentle guidance and support you have given me while growing up, still growing up… At times I have needed steering and you have always been there. Thanks for being a soundboard for Sarah and I with our big ideas and dreams... Without your ongoing support things would be very different. Sarah and I are both very fortunate to have come from generations of strong family relationships. We have learnt to be compassionate, patient and forgiving towards one another. Thank you to our wider families for your ongoing guidance and support. To everyone who has helped us to make this day as special as it is, We thank you all very much. My grandparents for all their hard work to provide an amazing venue for our ceremony. And the privilege to have my grandmother marry us. This is very special for Sarah and I. Adam our MC for all your help today, you have been a great friend to us both. Megan for the finishing touches to my beautiful bride. Kat, Frankie and all the staff here at St Georges. And everyone else who has willingly been instructed by Sarah. Thanks to all. Everything has come together perfectly. Our friends, You have all always been there when we have needed you. When our lifestyle was more transient you were always present with us, And on our return, always happy to see us and listen to our latest adventures. Danelle you look beautiful tonight- Thanks for helping Sarah with today and all the decisions I have no idea about. And for being such a supportive friend to her. Nick – Thanks for scrubbing up. And showing up. All things considered you have done all right... Finally, to my wife – You look stunning. I am absolutely delighted to be standing here with you today. Thank you for always being by my side, making me happy and marrying me. You made a good choice. A couple of years ago we started out as kids at the beach. We never knew our relationship would turn into this, And now I couldn’t imagine our lives any other way. Over the years we have grown up and grown closer together. While having you by my side for nearly half of my life, I have learnt which buttons of yours to push and when best NOT to push them. I could share a few stories but I don’t think I will. We have really lived our best lives doing it the way we wanted to. At times things have been hard but that has only bought us closer. Through the happiness and positivity we share, we can get through anything. Sarah – We have always laughed together, Sometimes cried together, And I know we will always be together. You make me truly happy. So now can everyone please join me in toasting my amazing wife And to our future together.

Is this Adam? If not, please let me know which one he is and I will replace this photo

Adam

Sarah didn’t give me a specific slot, but did ask me to be MC so I’ll just take this opportunity as a given. If I start back at the beginning, Sarah and I met in the late 80’s. I possibly have known Sarah longer than Hayden has? What can you remember about the day of Sarah’s birth Hayden? I’ve got a shit memory so I’ll take Mum’s word for it – I’m two days older than Sarah and our darling mothers met in the hospital. Best childhood memories were of playing Dress Up’s at family dinner parties and racking up a few beers on our parents tab in Fiji. We were 16. Those are two separate events btw. Wasn’t 16 for the Dress Up’s. and to be fair, can’t remember if Sarah joined Hayden and I at the Bar? You can’t have been far away? Again, shit memory. It feels like Ryan has been around forever, it hasn’t been that long has it? I recently asked Sarah how she met Ryan, she said it was out at Waimarama with Danelle. I then asked Ryan the same question, unfortunately there’s no twist here, he simply said it was out at the beach, she couldn’t resist! Sarah, my oldest friend, here we are again, playing Dress Up’s, you’ve nailed it this time – you look beautiful. So do you Ry .
