Sophie’s Vows Mat, you have given me a world that I can’t thank you enough for. The kindness and love that you pour into our family ever yday warms my hear t. Each day I wake up next to you I am filled with purpose and security knowing that you are my person. You are my safety and my favourite place to call home. I look at you and know without a doubt that you are the man I want to give my soul to.
Thank you for loving me in all of my glor y, for looking after me when I need suppor t, for lifting me up when I’ve needed it, and for all of the cheeky banter just to see a smile on my face. You complete me in ways I never knew possible.
I whole hear tedly promise to respect you, listen to you, care for you, uplift you, suppor t you, grow with you, appreciate you, stand with you against anything you face, to laugh with you, cr y with you and give my all to you and anything else that you could ever possibly need.
Today, surrounded by our loved ones, I take on the Clark name with a sense of pride and the promise to you that I will standby your side not only as your wife but as your best friend, loving you with all that I have, forever, until the ver y end.
Mat’s Vows @iamsoph the moment I laid eyes on you I knew this would be something special. I love so much about you! I love your appreciation for a ice cold corona on a hot summers day. I love how you want to be around me as much as you can. Even if it’s taking a day off work and flying to Wellington to then sit by my side driving 8 hours home.
No, but seriously I love how kind and caring you are. How fantastic you are at being a mother to Essie and I. I love how generous and honest you are. I can honestly say I love ever ything about you. You’re so beautiful inside and out. I’m so lucky to call you mine.
You make me feel so happy and loved. Being with you feels like home. You are fun, yet mature beyond your years. Your life experiences and how you’ve gone about it all teaches me so much. Knowing I get to do life with you brings me so much joy. I know it will be a lifetime of happiness and laughter, and a lifetime of feeling so loved.
In saying that. My promises to you are to be honest and transparent with you. I’ll never drink the last Corona in the fridge I promise. I promise to listen and learn from you. To care and protect you. To suppor t and encourage you in all life’s obstacles. I will smile and laugh with you and I will cr y and grieve with you. I promise to be the best possible husband and father I can be to you and Esmé. I promise to love you and I promise to be by your side no matter what. I love you!
Mat’s Speech My wife and I are over the moon you could all be here with us today. It really means so much to us. To others that couldn’t make it due to travel restrictions Marellen, Marina and Angel. And the others that aren’t with us anymore, you’re all on our minds on our special day. I’d like to star t with some ver y impor tant thank you’s. Firstly I’d like to thank Sophie’s family who could be with us today. Blake and Rach, Logan and Kim. It hasn’t been easy for Soph unable to have her mother or father here today. And I’d like to thank you for all being so suppor tive to her. To Brian, Sophie’s father. I know you’re up there looking down on her ver y proud of the women she is today. Soph, I could only imagine how you feel not being able to share special moments like this with him. So to that, Brian, you’re always in our thoughts. (Cheers) to Brian. To my family, Heather, Lawrie and Katrina. Thank you so much for ever ything you have done for us. You’re the perfect role models for us as we star t this new journey as husband and wife. The love you both show each other and the love you show for Soph and our little Esmé is second to none. We are so lucky to have such caring people in our lives. To the beautiful bridesmaids thank you for all your help and being so suppor tive while Soph has planned this entire day. You all look amazing too! To my groomsmen, you’ve done fuck all and I can’t even say you scrubbed up well. But I love you and thank you for being by my side. Next I’d like to thank ever yone who had helped put on this special day. Kauri Bay Boomrock for the hospitality and the easiness to work with. This is truly such an amazing venue and a place we will hold close in our hear ts forever. Johnny the photographer and videographer thank you, let’s just hope you worked my good angles or at least get a good photoshop in. The Band “Off The Wall” no doubt you’re about to steal the show. Thank you! Last but not least thank you to my beautiful wife. Doesn’t she look absolutely amazing. Loving you is so so easy. You’re the most caring, honest and loving person I know. I appreciate your constant suppor t your undeniable loyalty and your willingness to put ever yone above you and make ever yone around you happy. You’re the most amazing mother to our little Esmé. You’re truely so beautiful inside and out and I soon knew you were the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. In fact we actually met back in 2015 through friend and after a couple of times hanging out together things fizzled I guess as we both weren’t quite ready. It wasn’t until 2018 when @ iamsoph who wasn’t following me at the time liked one of my photos. So I was thinking to myself. It’s either 1. She’s sliding on in or 2. It’s an automated bot like. As we all know Soph has a lot of followers on Instagram. So I replied asking if it was 1 or 2? Straight away I got a reply and it was safe to say within a couple of days we were off on our first date as she went about her way having another crack at the title. 3 back to back games of live footy with a quick trip down to Burger Fuel for dinner it was. Now if you can convince a 10/10 to watch back to back games of footy washed down with a couple of beers and a burger topped off with yelling at Michael Cheika on screen calling him a winging wanker then I think most of us would have been thinking the same thing. Wife her! Things only got better and better. We were soon overseas in Bali for our first trip together. Now, I always said overseas trips were make or break as you’d see a few couples must have the post holiday blues and break up not long after. Not us. We just grew strength to strength and this really cemented how we felt about each other. I knew this was going to be the women I’ll spend the rest of my life with. Fast forward 2 and bit years and we have a beautiful home with the most beautiful daughter who we adore so much. And today we are here celebrating our love for each other with the people we care about most. (Cheers) To love!
