ABOUT This report produced is to document my process of design the two designs of 2 studio works: Literally Park Street and Escape with Bents Basin in Landscape Studio 5. It has aims to understand of my thought process sequentially to aid my future design works. It would also review my thinking process by understanding the decisions made in the time context and in relation to each other.
METHODOLOGY It presents the two designs of 2 studio works: Literally Park Street and Escape with Bents Basin in a serises of chronological order showing my progress over the 13 weeks. The series of documentation would help to recall my decision makings which will be accompanied by footnotes to explain my influences and design making. This report will conclude with a summary of comparison of the 2 different approaches and an overall personal reflection.
THE HYDE PARK BRIDGE PROJECT
LITERALLY PARK STREET week 1 to week 5
The given brief to this project was to provide a linkage that is an ‘easier option’ that suits the character to connect the North and South side of Hyde Park along Park Street. ‘Literally Park Street’ has revolutionized the concept of connection along Park Street. The concept aims is to realize an iconic urban landscape extending a park space to experience by both pedestrians and car diving along Park Street.

THOUGHTS The design generation started in all directions. I was inspired by the historical/political background and nature of Hyde Park. The exploration was in part to find out the possibilities beyond to uncover the complexity behind Hyde Park. I decided to challenge search for a deeper meaning behind the park which have resulted in a highly confused state of idea generation.

THOUGHTS
SITE ANALYSIS THOUGHTS Being confused and overwhelmed, I decided to take a break with the idea generation. I need to ground and justify my design, hence I did a site appraisal andnarrowed down my design option to on that is ispired by nature and the other by the Situationalist ideology.

Inspired by the Kevin Lynch’ Image of the City’ reading, I analyzed Hyde Park based on the 5 elements of wayfinding. Then , I identi-

THOUGHTS A montage was created to map the model onto site (Park Street). This ignited the inspiration to look into breaking the edges of the park along Park Street. And hence drew me to the inspiration of ‘ Literally Park Street’. To resolve the feasibility of the bridge, I studied the physical dimensions for the STUDY ON THE DIMENSIONS OF THE BRIDGE
bridge to occupy.
THOUGHTS To explain the concept of ‘Literally Park street’, I did a diagramic sketch to show the how where ,why and who within the context.. The concept was to explore a dynamic experience along for both pedestrains and car users. However, it concept was too broad and I need to focus on the brief which was challenging to resolve.

escape with bents basin FOR THE NATIONAL PARKS
WEEK 6 TO WEEK 11
The given brief to this project was from the national parks to redesign Bents Basin which is a conservation area. Escape with Bent’s Basin, explores the concept of escape and translates it into the human experience of city dwellers in a natural setting. It is design to balance the conservation of the natural site and human activities to promote social and environmental sustainability.
