Q. Does the Bible mention health as part of the GOSPEL? A. Well….let’s look at the definition of the GOSPEL, and let the Bible answer for itself. “And I saw another angel flying through the sky, carrying the eternal Good News (GOSPEL) to proclaim to the people who belong to this world—to every nation, tribe, language, and people. “Fear God,” he shouted, “Give glory to him, for the time has come when he will sit as judge. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all the springs of waters.” Revelation 14:6-7 The Bible tells us how we give glory to God: “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31 “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor (glorify) God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 So, we believe that we as a church cannot focus only on spiritual matters, but that people have physical and social needs as well.

Red Wing SDA Church
09/27/2010
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q. Who is sponsoring this? A. This is sponsored by the Red Wing Seventh-day Adventist Church as a part of its health and nutrition outreach to the community. Q. Do you believe that vegetarianism is a Biblical requirement? A. No. We believe that you should eat an optimal diet, and strive to obtain optimal health. There are many benefits to a plantbased diet as compared to a meat-based diet as far as reducing the risk of many Western killer diseases we as a society face today. Q. Why then should a CHURCH concern itself with HEALTH AND NUTRITION? A. As Christians, we profess to follow Jesus Christ. And when we look at his ministry as found in the four gospels, one thing which stands clear is that Jesus ministered to the people’s physical needs as well as the spiritual. Some who have looked at the life of Christ feel that he healed more than he preached. God is interested in our physical health, as well as our spiritual health. “Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.” 3 John 2 “And so dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.” Romans 12?1 We believe that part of the good news that we can give our fellow man is that God wishes us to have abundant health in all areas of our life….and that it is really a part of our gospel commission.

1 lb. buckwheat groats
Submitted by Sara Thompson
Put buckwheat groats in a large bowl and fill to the top with water. The buckwheat will more than double in size as it expands, so use enough water to keep it fully under water and add water if it looks like it could use more after soaking has begun. Rinse the soaked buckwheat thoroughly after soaking 6-8 hours. If you’re using an Excalibur dehydrator, put the mesh screens onto each tray. If using a dehydrator with holes larger than the buckwheat groats, you’ll want to place parchment paper as a base onto each tray first. Spread buckwheat onto your dehydrator trays. Dehydrate at 104* for 3-5 hours or until completely dry. From Ani’s Raw Food Kitchen

Blend all ingredients thoroughly in a food processor or blender. Enough for 4 salads. (Use for Asian Kale Salad) Note: This dressing keeps well for about four days in the fridge. I actually think it tastes better after refrigerating overnight. From www.cookieandkate.com/2011/raw-kale-asian-salad

ASIAN KALE SALAD 5 big stalks of kale 1/2 avocado, cubed 1 carrot, peeled and sliced into strips with a vegetable peeler 3 tablespoons purple cabbage, chopped 1 tablespoon cilantro, roughly chopped 1 tablespoon red onion, thinly sliced 1 teaspoon sesame seeds 1. Pull the kale leaves off from the tough stem, and break into small, bite sized pieces. Sprinkle with sea salt and massage the leaves for a couple of minutes, meaning that you should scrunch handfuls of kale in your palms, release, repeat. The kale will become darker in color and more fragrant. This step improves the taste of raw kale. 2. Throw the kale into a bowl, drizzle in the salad dressing (don’t skimp), and toss thoroughly. 3. Add the avocado, carrots and cabbage. 4. Top with cilantro and a big sprinkle of sesame seeds. Enjoy! From www.cookieandkate.com/2011/raw-kale-asian-salad

RAW ANGEL-HAIR SQUASH NOODLES
ONION BREAD
4 zucchini squash
3 yellow onions 3/4 cup flax seed, ground 3/4 cup raw sunflower seed, ground 1/3 cup soy sauce or Braggs’ Liquid Aminos 1/3 cup olive oil
To make noodles, cut off tops and bottoms of each squash, then cut in half. Use spiralizer to spiralize squash into angelhair noodles.
Sun-Dried Tomato Marinara 2 cups tomatoes, chopped 1 clove garlic 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, loosely packed 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil Juice of 1/2 lemon or lime, about 1 tbsp. 1 tsp. pitted dates 1 tsp. oregano, fresh or dried 1/2 tsp. rosemary, fresh or dried 1 tsp. sea salt 3 tbsp. sun-dried tomatoes
Thinly slice all of the onions. Use a mandolin if you have one for slicing the onions. Put all of the ingredients in a bowl and stir. At first it may seem like you have too many onions, but keep on mixing and the onions will start to soften and it will turn into a dough-like consistency. Spread on Teflex sheets and put in dehydrator overnight. Flip onto mesh screen as soon as the bread comes easily off the Teflex. The sooner you can flip them, the faster they are ready to eat….YUM! From Rawvolution
Blend fresh tomatoes, garlic, basil, olive oil, lemon juice, dates, oregano, rosemary, and salt until smooth. Add the sundried tomatoes and blend until mixed well. The sun-dried tomatoes will absorb excess moisture and make your marinara thicker. Will keep for two days in the fridge. From Ani’s Raw Food Kitchen
