WELCOME TO THE 2019 NCA ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND EXPO On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are pleased to welcome you to the National Candle Association’s annual event, as we celebrate 45 years of our organization’s unified efforts and significant success in protecting our fair trade right to keep candles Made in America. Through your participation, you and your company are serving an instrumental leadership role in both the industry and marketplace. You’re not just along for the ride, letting developments take your business where it may. Your company is helping drive the direction and success of the candle category, in US manufacturing, product innovation, and consumer safety. By providing the US government with relevant data and a combined influential industry voice, we continue to maintain the anti-dumping tariff. NCA established this tariff in time to prevent unfair predatory competition from driving US candle manufacturing out of existence. From 1979 to 1984, the volume of China imports increased 3,700%, as they retailed products here for less than we could buy the raw materials to make it. The duty successfully reversed most of that increase, preventing candles from vanishing from US manufacturing during a period when many other industries were not so fortunate. NCA members helped the US candle business prevail, and are committed to maintaining this strength and success. Thank you for joining our gathering of candle industry leadership.
