Conference Planning Committee Report

Conference Planning Committee PENS Reporter Update

May 2021

We have completed yet another successful Pediatric Endocrine Nursing Society National Conference! We hope that those of you who were able to attend the live conference days felt connected with other attendees and were able to learn through the many sessions available. Don’t forget that the content is still available for those who could not attend the live days, or anyone who would like to watch more sessions (or re-watch!).

This past year, the Conference Planning Committee worked quickly between the November 2020 virtual conference and the April 2021 virtual conference to compile a full new program. Conference planning committee members were dedicated and worked very hard to make sure that a full agenda was put together in a short time frame. As with the November 2020 virtual conference, we tried to schedule sessions that worked for both East and West coast time zones to accommodate everyone as best we could.

The 2021 National Conference had 314 total attendees which is incredible! There were a total of 21.75 CE credit hours available via a range of diabetes and endocrine sessions. We felt very supported by our sponsors this year and continue to thank them for their ongoing support, even in our virtual setting. Our evening event featured a fun and interactive magic show which was enjoyable for our attendees and their families! This year’s Conference Planning Committee included Christin Morell as Co-Chair, along with Sheri Luke, Jennifer Anisko, Josie Hong, and Amanda Patterson. We were fortunate to have Cathy Flynn as our ever-supportive board liaison, and as always, we really appreciated the ongoing support from Christie Ross, PENS Educational Program Coordinator, Caitlin Arnold Condie, PENS Meeting Manager, Candice Miller, PENS Associate Executive Director and JerrieLynn Kind, PENS Executive Director.

We would really appreciate if you could complete the 2021 Conference evaluations if you have not yet, and be sure to claim your CE credits before the end of 90 days from the conference! Please take the time to think through your evaluations and provide details about what you liked, what you would have changed, and any future suggestions. The conference evaluations provide valuable information so that we can help improve future conferences.

I am ‘signing off’ as Conference Planning Chair and passing the role over to Christin Morrell for 2021-2022! Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the 2022 National Conference which is scheduled in Bonita Springs, FL at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point from May 18 – 21, 2022. Can’t wait to see you all there!

Wishing you health and happiness, Leigh Pughe, RN, CPNP 2020-2021 Conference Planning Committee Chair
