you’re Engaged! Whether you’re looking for a photographer to capture your wedding, engagement photos, or just a day in your life, finding the right style and price are probably your top priorities. Above all else, I work to keep my photography authentic. I won’t put you in poses that don’t feel like “you,” I don’t do much with props, and the emotions I work to capture should feel like the best, most honest expressions of who you are. I’ve learned I’m not the right fit for everyone and every photo. I know what works with my style and what doesn’t, and that ultimately finding that match is magic for everyone involved. I’ve learned to follow my heart and my creative direction, because I’ve got nothing but your best interest at the core of it.
MY STYLE I love finding amazing opportunities in ordinary settings and scenery and bringing out the most comfortable, confident side of you. I appreciate clients that appreciate the details. I shoot weddings to include all of the things you worked so hard to pull-together, and the things you’ll probably otherwise forget. Those candid moments throughout the day, the colors and textures that build the look and feel, and the little pieces and parts woven together to make it YOUR day. I’ll do everything I can to help, whether it’s zipping your dress or helping rehearse your vows, and all I ask in return is that you trust me.
EDITING I shoot with professional equipment and do my best to capture the moment as it happens - and keep it that way - however, I will not shoot a photo and release it without giving myself the opportunity to enhance it digitally. While you might not notice any of those enhancements (which I take as a compliment), it’s my opportunity to make sure your photos are the best they can be.
YOU + ME I love outdoor weddings, real laughter, candid smiles, adventures, sunrises and sunsets, guys who show emotion, natural light, elopements, unplugged moments, timeless traditions, when brides ask my opinion, artistic flexibility, bold colors, cool people and cool places. I don’t love poses you found on Pinterest, heart-shaped shadows, people in my way with iphones, requests for “skinny” editing, meaningless traditions, stiff poses, or couples who focus on me instead of their wedding.
Kelley shot my wedding and they were some of my most treasured, beautiful photos I have. She has such a creative eye. Her editing and shooting skills are some of the best I have seen. She was there for the whole day and was able to catch moments that I didn’t see, but am able to re-live for the rest of my life. I love Kelley’s style and her work ethic. ALBUMS Your wedding day is likely going to be one of the most important days of your life. You’ll have your favorite people there, you’ll remember it forever, and I’ll eventually deliver hundreds of photos of the best moments throughout the day. Why leave them on a computer somewhere? Albums are available for purchase to preserve your day as the ultimate heirloom, ready to hand-down through your family just like our parents and grandparents did for us. Or, as the ultimate thank you to those who made our wedding day possible. Starting at 20 pages and 8.5” square, upgrades can be made in size, page count, images included, number of revisions, and so on. Estimates available upon request.
ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS The beauty of engagement sessions is they’re totally up to you - wear anything you want, shoot anywhere you want - I’m just along for the ride. I encourage everyone to dream as big as possible for your engagement photos... they’re probably one of the first times you’ve been professionally photographed as a couple and maybe the only photos you’ll have where you aren’t expected to wear a white dress / suit. If you want to stand on top of a mountain and take amazing photos because you know your parents would never make the hike, let’s do it. If you want to watch the sunset on the beach in a beautiful dress because it’s your favorite place in the world, I’m there. We could do your photos at home in cozy clothes over coffee or we could go to an amusement park because it’s fun and fits you guys. ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS - TIMING I typically shoot engagement photos on Sundays, and schedule them around the sunrise / sunset. If you’ve got something specific in mind (ie: fall colors or a snowscape) let’s get it on the calendar ASAP. Those dates are first come, first serve. ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS - WHAT TO WEAR? Sometimes even the most flattering outfits don’t photograph well. As you start to think about what kind of look you’re hoping for or what types of locations are on your list, let’s talk about what colors or types of clothes would compliment those the best.
Kelley was simply amazing. I could not say enough things about her professionalism, her flexibility, listening to what we wanted, and always being there to take pictures. We would be walking around talking with our guets and just see flashes all around us. Everytime a friend wanted to get a picture with us and pull out their phone, Kelley was there to take it. FAQ’S I’M READY TO BOOK! HOW DO I RESERVE MY DATE? If you’re looking through this and thinking that we might be a good fit, let’s set-up a meeting over Skype or coffee - I’d love the chance to get to know you a little bit better! I only take-on a select amount of weddings each year, so if you’re ready to book, let’s chat as soon as possible! To hold your date, I ask for a 50% nonrefundable retainer and a signed contract. I use an online service and will send you everything digitally to review together. Once you’re booked, PLEASE keep me in the loop - let me help you build your timeline, text me photos of your top dress options, ask for vendor recommendations and creative ideas to get you to your vision - I’ve seen a lot of weddings and would love to help bounce ideas off of! DO YOU CHARGE EXTRA FOR TRAVEL? Weddings and engagement sessions each include up to 100mi of travel from Durham, NC. Anything beyond that incurs the typical federal mileage rate - usually about $.60 / mile. Weddings that end late in the evening, start early in the morning, or are more than a couple hours away from Durham will also require an overnight stay - I can provide an estimate of that total upon request. SHOULD I PROVIDE A SHOT LIST? Totally up to you - most of the time, shot lists can be fairly distracting vs. keeping my eyes and camera up and ready for whatever happens on your wedding day, and there are some standard photos that I’m pretty used to getting (ask me for a couple weddings to peruse as examples!), but if there are some SUPER specific photos you have to have, I recommend putting someone like your Maid of Honor in charge of making sure those get executed.
DO YOU OFFER REHEARSAL DINNER COVERAGE? Absolutely - assuming I’m free that evening, I’d love to photograph your rehearsal and can provide a separate quote upon request. HOW SOON WILL I SEE MY PHOTOS? I know you’re anxious to see your photos - I’ve been a bride before and totally get it. I’ll send you 10-20 preview images within 2 days of your wedding - you can download these (profile picture, whatttt) share them with family members, or use them to order quick thank you cards for wedding gifts. Then, within 6-8 weeks, I’ll send you the full gallery to see online. CAN YOU PHOTOSHOP ME TO LOOK ...... ? Before you even ask, I’ve probably heard it - skinny lenses, scary spray tans, undergarments that are showing, nervous breakouts, etc. When it comes to minor blemishes on the bride and groom, I’m always happy to help. If you’ve got insecurities you think I can help minimize beyond that, or for requests from family members / wedding party / guests, let me know and I can put together an estimate for you.
