A WORD FROM OUR CHAIRMAN
In 2020 and 20 havoc in our co we began rebu celebrating 90 Show & Rodeo together in per and ‘pent-up-d leadership team expectations. T ‘out of charact raised, at least something ‘the leadership team class of team m to their comm elite team of h heart for the m youth of the gr
We came together with a new vision and a new hope to be the best committee that Rodeo Houston has seen in its 90 year history Not to just raise the most money, but to become a tight knit family, to join as one, to serve as one, all to help our community and build connections that will last a lifetime
In the 2022 season our sales were off the charts we saw everyone come together and give generously to support the youth of Texas, preserve western heritage and further agriculture education But what we did not see ahead was during the 1st month of renewal sales how dedicated this team of elite sales volunteers would prove to be, and how you would blow last year's record-breaking fundraising year out of the water! ‘Pent up demand’ they said but you shouted back loudly during just the second month of sales by outraising last year ’ s numbers at this same time of the year by ONE MILLION DOLLARS!
Rodeo is so proud of you, as your chairman, I am proud to serve alongside each and every one you!
It has been a joy to work with rookies like Dr Stacy, she was excited and certain she had a $6k tabliie sold. The only problem, we had already closed $6k sales, so she thought a $9k sale would be attainable, and with a little coaching and support from leadership, and a lot of excitement she sold her first $12k table! It's dedication, perseverance and teamwork that allows our team to smash their goals and makes us stronger together as a rodeo family and connects us forever as friends
Cheers to my fellow committeemen and to what this season is going to bring in record breaking numbers!
Ray GilliamWINE EDUCATION
The Paillards call it, ‘Les Parcelles’ (The Parcels) because it is a cuvée from 22 individual plots with an average vine age of 25 years The wine consists of all estate grown fruit, from 28 acres exclusively in the Montagne de Reims Grand Cru top village of Bouzy The Pierre Paillard 'Les Parcelles'is a precise expression of Bouzy terroir, combining a rich ripeness with chalky finesse. Harvested primarily in 2017and bottled in August 2021, this cuvée is composed of 70% pinot noir and 30 % chardonnay Les Parcellesbenefits from extended aging; 4 years in 19th century cellars at a constant 50°F/10°C temperature
Tasting Notes:: Offering up aromas of lemon oil, nectarine, freshly baked bread and hints of honeycomb, Les Parcelles is medium to fullbodied, deep and vinous, with a layered core of fruit, racy acids and a saline, bone dry finish This may be low dosage, but there’s a real fruitiness and it offsets the acidity really nicely Complemented by an elegant pinpoint mousse, this is a classy, impeccably balanced wine that transcends the challenging vintage.

Concreti Malbec'
Winemaker Sebastián Zuccardi is the brains behind this amazing malbec grown at Finca Piedra Infinita, Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley, Mendoza at 1100 meters above sea level There’s very little soil over rocky deposits of calcareous material, and you can taste it in the wines The fermentation takes place in Zuccardi designed concrete tanks (made without epoxy) using native yeasts and macerating for 20 days After that, it goes through malolactic fermentation and ageing in concrete tanks, and again you can feel it in the elegant, supple textures that make this wine so special
Tasting Notes:
Ethereal, floral, mineral, savoury, fresh, and dusty, it is hard to imagine the alcohol is 14 percent because it tastes more like 12 percent Cool chalky tannins run out the finish of what is an intellectual malbec, and one that tastes like no other
WINE EDUCATION
Flowers Pinot Noir'
Coming from a vineyard in the Fort Ross Seaview region of the Sonoma Coast, the 2017 Pinot Noir Camp Meeting Ridge was destemmed and spent 14 months in 28% new French oak Due to its extreme coastal environment and steep hillside plantings, Camp Meeting Ridge has smaller grape clusters that impart greater concentration and aromatics in the wine The vineyard’s older, rocky soils distinguish its Pinot Noir plantings with an intense and seductive spice profile while the coastal influence perfectly balances elegance with the vineyard’s robust fruit profile
Tasting Notes
With power, elegance and structure, the Camp Meeting Ridge Pinot Noir is a perfect expression of the far west Sonoma Coast Aromas of plum, raspberry, bergamot and hibiscus mingle with forest floor and sea breeze aromas. The palate is firmly structured with red fruits, black tea and mineral notes with bright acidity and a long, savory finish

Rookie class update - Team Beaujolais Nouveau
After a busy summer of rookie interviews and training, we brought on 24 rookies. The rookie class is off to a great start. They were the top sales team at this weeks turn in meeting with over $111,000 in sales They are well on their way to surpassing the wonderful results that last years rookie class achieved. The rookies are assisting with opening wine at the start of the meeting and will be wearing their rookie beads with a wooden wine glass on it so please make sure you introduce yourself to them, share any tips on selling wine with them and welcome them to the committee. This is a great group of new committee members and along with the help of Greg Neely and Nancy Vu, I am excited to be working with them all during their rookie year. Look for great things to still come from Beaujolais Nouveau!
