SoundSession Providence SoundSession, the multi-genre festival that has filled the downtown area with music since 2004, will continue in a scaled-down format this year, organizers announced Wednesday. In a news conference at the Roots Café, Len Cabral, chairman of the nonprofit group Providence Inner City Arts, which runs the café, announced that SoundSession 2011 will be held July 8 through 10 at five indoor and outdoor venues downtown. And SoundSession’s most visible feature, the parade (now dubbed “the procession”), will be held Saturday night. PROVPASS PARKING The ProvPass parking meter card is now available at five locations in the City of Providence, making it easier for drivers to park in the city to do business and enjoy all that Providence has to offer. The ProvPass smart card can be used to pay meters throughout the City, so drivers don’t need to carry quarters in their pockets. ProvPass is available in $10 and $20 denominations. Users swipe the card in the meter when they arrive and when they leave. The meter calculates the amount of time used and deducts the appropriate amount from the card. The ProvPass, can be purchased in Providence City Hall at the Tax Collector’s Office, room 203, the Board of Licenses, room 101, the Municipal Court at the Public Safety Complex, 325 Washington Street, at the Traffic Engineer’s Office, 60 Ernest Street, and at AAA’s downtown Providence branch office at 55 Dorrance Street.
