RI CHEFS & RESTAURANTS STAND OUT ON AWARDS SEMIFINALIST LISTS The James Beard Foundation 2012 Restaurant and Chef Award Semifinalists were announced this morning and a number of Rhode Island chefs and restaurants are included on this year’s list. The semifinalists in our area are: Best New Restaurant: The Dorrance Outstanding Bar Program: Cook & Brown Public House Rising Star Chef of the Year: Benjamin Sukle of The Dorrance Best Chef: Northeast: 1. 2. 3.

The Semifinalists will be narrowed down to a list of finalists on March 19 and then winners will be announced at the Awards Gala in New York City on May 7 in what is essentially the Oscars® of the food world. FEBRUARY RESIDENT NIGHT Thank you for all that attended the February Resident Night, February 23, featuring Community MusicWorks. Guests listened to a chamber music performance while enjoying wine and hor d’ouvers. KENNEDY PLAZA CHANGES A tour of Kennedy Plaza and its planned improvements was spearheaded last month by two of our very own Residents, Carla R. and Ann B.

Last July, the City, the Greater Kennedy Plaza Coalition, and FirstWorks received a $200,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to improve the Kennedy Plaza space.
