Kelly Burns Shaffer

In 2002, my husband Kirk transitioned from the Tennessee Air National Gaurd back into active duty Air Force, taking us to Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, AL. There he taught at the Officer Trainning School for three years and then he was as an Executive Officer at the Air War College. After working my entire adult life, we decided that I should stay home and focus on our kids. I also did a lot of volunteer work for various oganizations. During this time Kirk and I did a short term mission trip to South Africa and fell completely in love with the people!!! We have since gone back (Botswanna, Zimbabwee, & Mozambique) as often as we can to work with the people. We feel a deep love and a strong calling to make Africa our home when Kirk retires in 2017. God has given us a heart for missions and we could not imagine doing anything else! In 2006 we received orders to Ramstein Air Base in Germany, and in a little over a month later we were there.
