We are so blessed to welcome you back to our ranch south of Ansley, NE for our 22nd Annual Production Sale. This letter might find you a few days later than planned as we have spent a few extra days clearing 15+ inches of snow and tending to baby calves. We are also excited to share, that for those of you returning to our sale from the first year or two, you can look forward to being welcomed by a couple completed barn projects to help us fight the cold weather more efficiently and effectively. However, our delicious lunch menu has not changed!

Our sale offering this year consists of 150 December, January, and a few February born yearling bulls. Also, we are offering 45 fancy yearling heifers. We are excited about this top group of bulls. Their power and superior growth will prove them to be winners for your herd. We must not forget the docility on these boys too. The cattle in this sale continue to represent our devoted and consistent interest to the commercial cattleman.

We have complied a complete list of performance data to assist you in your selection process. Each bull has been DNA tested with the Angus GS test and parentage verified. This year’s sale offers a strong set of deep bodied bulls packed with performance. These bulls set records for our operation as the heaviest set of calves weaned in our program. The average adjusted weaning weight came in at 787 lbs., with the average WW epd at +83, ranking in the top 5% of the Angus Breed. They gained an average of 4.24 lbs/day, posting an average ADJ 365-day weight of 1,390 pounds.

If a replacement bull is available, he will be provided. If a replacement bull is not available, credit will be given in our next sale. Ostrand Angus will board bulls and deliver them free in Nebraska and surrounding states. Our goal is to begin delivery the last ten days of March. With spring work and AI season beginning the first of April, it makes completing bull delivery before then a priority. All heifers will remain at the sale facility after the auction and need to be picked up sale day or at your earliest convenience.

RALLY was bred and sold by Krebs Ranch. We used Rally in our AI program as an outcross pedigree to increase performance and stoutness. We have been pleased with the results of this set of yearling bulls and heifers. Rally progeny stand wide and have added frame size with plenty of natural thickness. The daughters are making some beautiful young cows with very nice-looking udders.

QUALITY is owned by Frey Angus Ranch in North Dakota. We used Quality in our AI program to bring that extra bit of stoutness and added length of body. We have been pleased how his progeny have grown and now the maturity that the bulls show as yearlings. Again, this year we have hand-picked 45 fancy, Registered Angus yearling heifers to offer. The heifers selling are a cross section of the same sire groups as in the bull sale. This year with the challenging winter conditions and back-to-back snowstorms we were not able to fit in a day to get individual photos of these fancy heifers. We have developed these heifers as if we were going to keep them and breed them ourselves in mid-March. At sale time these heifers will weigh on average around 950 lbs.
