Expansion and Renovation of the College of Architecture, Planning and Design at Kansas State University. Project scope includes the renovation of two historic buildings connected by a new addition. Primary functions include teaching studios, lecture rooms, critique spaces, faculty offices and suites, fabrication labs, a formal auditorium and library.

1.Walkways-Pg 212-213 chapter 4 firure 403.5.1. Clear Width. Except as provided in 403.5.2 and 403.5.3, the clear width of walking surfaces shall be 36” minimum. EXCEPTION: The clear width shall be permitted to be reduced to 32” minimum for a length of 24” maximum provided that reduced width segments are separated by segments that are 48” long minimum and 36” wide minimum. 2.Protrusion-Pg 115/116 Chapter 3 figure 307.2 Protrusion Limits. Objects with leading edges more than 27” and not more than 80” above the finish floor or ground shall protrude 4” maximum horizontally into the circulation path. EXCEPTION: Handrails shall be permitted to protrude 4½” maximum. 3.Turning Radius-Pg 110-111 Chapter 3 Figure 304.3.2 Circular Space- 60” diameter minimum. Toilet dispenser should be 15”-48” from the floor and 7”-9” from the edge of the toilet. 9.Ramps-Pg 131-134 Chapter 4 Figure 405 Ramp will not have a running slope steeper than 1:12. The clear width between handrails shall be 36” minimum. Landing clear width shall be at least as wide as the widest ramp run leading to the landing. The landing clear length shall be 60” long minimum. 10.Stairs-Pg 157-158 Chapter 5 figure 504,505.4,505.5 Risers shall be between 4” – 7” maximum. Treads shall be 11” deep minimum. The radius of curvature at the leading edge of the tread shall be ½” maximum. The slope under the tread at an angle of 30 degrees maximum from vertical. The permitted projection of the nosing shall extend 1½” maximum over the tread below. Handrails shall be between 34”-38” vertically above walking surfaces, stair nosing’s, and ramp surfaces. Clearance between handrail gripping surfaces and adjacent surfaces shall be 1½” minimum. Horizontal projections shall occur 1½” minimum below the bottom of the handrail gripping surface. 11.Elevator-Pg 142 Chapter 4 Figure 407.4.1 Centered door clearance needs to be 42” min. Inside Car-80” min. Inside car back wall to front return needs to be 51” min. Inside car back wall to inside face of door needs to be 54” min. 12.Auditorium Seating-Pg 332 Chapter 11 in IBC Figure 1108.2.2.1. Ph 206 Chapter 8 figure 802.1.2 for 101-300 people their needs to be 5 wheelchair spaces. Single wheelchair will be 36” min. Two or more wheelchairs will be 33” wide min.
