OBJECTIVE
To design a mixed - use lifestyle restaurant that was vibrant and diverse from morning to night. The restaurant is located in an urban-like setting with shopping, eating, and theater. The concept came from the idea of the deep sea creatures, in particular deep sea jelly fish.

LIGHTING MODEL
I decided to use fiber optics because they can be cut at different heights, and when people walk by they will sway slightly to mimic the ocean.

FREEDOM TRAIL
The Freedom trail was built in 1951 because William Schofield wanted a walking trail that linked important local landmarks. The trail includes 16 historically significant locations thoughtout Boston. The trail is 2.5 miles long and starts at the Boston Common and ends at USS Constitution. In 1958 they added the red line to help clearly mark the trail that now supports three million people each year.

EXTERIOR
The exterior wall of the three learning environments provide ample amounts of natural light to penetrate the spaces. These windows are arranged so that “Ode to Joy can be read from their placement. The exterior windows also bring joy to the classrooms because they mimic sheet music.
21
22
FERMATA
A fermata refers to a pause of unspecified length on a note or a rest in music. This space was given the name fermata because it serves as a resting spot for students during passing time as well as any free time given. The space is calm and inviting with comfortable ancillary furniture as well as furniture that focuses on mindfulness. There are certain chairs that allow for students to play their music through the chair without disturbing others around them. The ceiling element gives the space a fun pop of color and a sense of expression for the arts. The ceiling element in the Fermata also serves a purpose for absorbing sound in the hallway because it is made of acoustical panels. The ceiling is undulating to mimic the visualization of sound waves. Windows along the hallway also allow for students to look into the classrooms and watch fellow students preform and practice. The lighting in the space is unique in the way it emulates the hexagon pattern from the ceiling. The lighting on the wall also gives the scene of joy because the lighting is at different heights to mimic sheet music.
23
CEILING
The reflected ceiling plan focuses on the ceiling elements, specifically the custom component in the fermata. The element takes differently sized hexagons and puts them together in a creative way.

ABOUT ME
27
WHO I AM My name is Kelsey Brown, I am currently a fifth year Interior Architecture and Product Design student. I'm looking for a job that will allow me to be an integral part of the team, to be creative, possibly work with animals, and possibly work in retail design. My hometown is Bartlesville Oklahoma, which is about 35,000 people, and I graduated from Bartlesville High School in 2014 with; 400 other students. I have played soccer since I was in kindergarten. I love it because I am a part of a team that becomes your family. I am part of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation which is a tribal group that is located in Shawnee, Oklahoma. My culture keeps me close to my family and other bands of my tribe which influences my design. I have had several retail jobs that are good preperation for designing retail space. My educational experience has led to transportation design, and a design/ build of a Tiny House with Habitat for Humanity. I enjoy volunteering around the community and for the College of Architecture, Planning and Design. I am currently a Peer Educator, which is someone that gives advice to the Freshmen coming into our college. I am also an ambassador for the College of Architecture, Planning and Design which means I give tour to potential students and volunteer for events.
