SHOW SPONSOR Samagri Ltd are the sole UK importer of the Virkar direct drill range. These drills are manufactured in Spain and are currently available in four different versions with a combination of discs, tines, or both. The USP for this drill range is that the independent sowing elements on all versions come with 35cm of travel for true contour following and precise seed placement. A Virkar Group direct drill is an agricultural machine specifically designed to implant crop seeds into the soil accurately and evenly. They have advanced systems that control the distance between sowing rows, the sowing depth and the amount of seeds deposited in each furrow. This ensures even seed distribution, which in turn improves germination and crop growth. The Dynamic Series are high performance machines with the best adaptability available on the market.
THE BENEFITS OF A DIRECT DRILL IN AGRICULTURE
The direct drill is one of the most revolutionary advances in the history of agriculture. Over the years, the benefits that machines bring to the field have multiplied: • Planting Precision: Virkar direct drills are backed by precise technology to ensure seeds are placed at the proper depth and spacing. This reduces seed waste and ensures even distribution, leading to more
even crop growth. Increased efficiency: The precision of the direct drill allows for faster and more efficient planting. Farmers can cover large tracts of land in less time, saving labour and resources. • Seed savings: Since the drills deposit seeds in a controlled and uniform manner, the need to use excessive amounts of seed is reduced. This results in significant cost and resource savings. • Higher productivity: The combination of accurate and efficient planting with less intraspecific competition leads to higher productivity. Crops have enhanced potential to reach their maximum yield. • Less work, more performance: The use of Virkar direct drill reduces the need for work, since it does not require prior preparation or ploughing of the land. This frees up time and resources for other important farm tasks. Find out more about the Virkar direct drill range at www.virkargroup.com/en and get in touch with Samagri Ltd at www.samagri.co.uk See us •

A RANGE OF MACHINERY KUHN Farm Machinery will be displaying a range of machinery for users to increase application accuracy and work rates on both arable and livestock farms at the show. KUHN’s stand will feature an Axis 40.2 EMC fertiliser spreader; Metris 4102 trailed sprayer; and a Multi-Longer GII 7457 hedge cutter, along with the chance for visitors to talk with KUHN specialists about these and other machines in the product range. The trailed Metris 4102 sprayer has a 4,100-litre capacity polyester tank along with 24m two-fold aluminium booms, and is designed for farmers and growers looking for a lightweight sprayer to limit compaction but possessing high work rates and technology options seen on larger machines. In the cab, visitors can see KUHN’s CCI A3 joystick which can provide up to 30 functions for sprayer operation, grouping all controls in one place for ease of use. The CCI A3 joystick can also be used with other Isobus implements, increasing the flexibility of the technology. For users requiring a screen to run the sprayer rather than using Isobus, KUHN’s CCI 800 and CC1 1200 are both compatible with the Metris 2 range.
See us on stand INDOOR A2
Elsewhere on the KUHN stand will be the Multi Longer GII 7457 hedge cutter with its 1.5m cutting head, hydraulic roller, and parallelogram arm design, allowing adjustment of the complete arm in one joystick movement. This offers increased responsiveness when negotiating obstacles and means the arm is more manoeuvrable in tight spaces. There is also no ram on the underside of the hedge cutter arm, which offers greater clearance of hedges and obstacles when at full reach. The 7457 has a horizontal reach of 7.2m and comes standard with KUHN’s STABILINK quick hitch axle mounted frame and brackets to ensure machine stability at full reach. The quick-fit frame takes just five minutes to attach and works as a shock absorber on the road, whilst correcting the tractor’s altitude to enable quick and safe position changes of the hedge cutter.

MEET OUR SPEAKERS ANDREW WILLIAMS
Andrew Williams’ career began with a job on John Fenton’s arable farm on the outskirts of Ipswich. After 18 months, Andrew felt the need to try something completely different and joined the Royal Navy, where he says he “enjoyed two very formative years”. Andrew returned to civilian life with a job repairing shipping containers while he searched for a route back into agriculture. Eventually, he took up a position with Andy Mayhew at Waldringfield, working there while attending Otley Agricultural College and then Walford College in Shropshire to study for a National Certificate in Farm Management. Andrew returned to Andy at the end of the course, taking a role as farm foreman, where he stayed for six years. Unable to secure a management position on a farm at that time, Andrew and a good friend of his set up a contracting business, J&A Farm Services, which they ran until Andew joined Home Farm Nacton (HFN) in May 1997 as Farm Manager.
MIKE SUMNER
Mike has worked in the landscaping business for over 30 years. Mike is a joint owner of a tractor sales and repairs business.
