Road Traffic Safety policy statement
Keltbray Fleet and Large Goods Vehicles (LGV) are a fundamental part to the success of Keltbray Group and subsidiary companies (referred to as Keltbray herein). Fleet and LGV have been identified as a significant key risk to the business with regards to road safety management. This policy works in conjunction with our Fleet and Haulage processes, Driver’s Handbooks and company policies.
The management of Keltbray are committed to:
– Full compliance with the relevant road traffic laws and regulations
– The processes and all associated controls – Incident reporting, fines and penalties whilst driving, legislation compliance, inspection and maintenance, vehicle acquisition and fuel cards, driver road safety scheme and speed management
– Promoting all Keltbray processes with regards to working hours, monitoring of fatigue, vehicles suitability, planning of journeys and road safety
– Ensuring that all employees required to drive any vehicle in the course of their work are competent, hold the correct license categories and are medically fit to do so
– Compliance with the BS ISO 39001:2012 standard
– Working towards the elimination of death and serious injury caused by road related accidents and incidents
– Providing vehicles that are suitable for purpose and roadworthy
– Ensuring the supply chain shall work within the framework of the CLOCS standard
– Documenting and communicating this policy at all levels within the organisation
To assist us in achieving our objectives, Keltbray will undertake the following:
– Work collaboratively with all interested parties to develop and contribute towards achieving safer roads
– Continually strive to reduce the number of road traffic incidents through the use of technology, training, checking correct entitlements on driving licences and working closely with our insurance providers and brokers
– Implement best practices and driver training to improve and promote safer work related and domestic journeys
– Strive to continually improve our Road Safety performance and certified management systems
– To work in conjunction with its fuel providers to understand its energy consumption, carbon footprint and develop action plans to reduce and improve our fuel efficiency and costs
Through the active participation and contribution of its employees, Keltbray will strive to meet and where possible, exceed the commitments of this policy and demonstrate best practice to our customers, partners, interested parties and the community.
Keltbray and its management team fully support this policy and are committed to provide competent personnel and financial resources to implement it. This policy statement shall be reviewed at least annually by all interested parties. All Keltbray policies are available on the Keltbray Business Management System. New employees are briefed on the use of the Business Management System and locations of the Keltbray policies and any reviews or key changes in the policies are advised to employees.
