BUSINESS EXCELLENCE AWARDS OPEN
Entries are now open for the Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards 2021 in November, an event that it is hoped will bring the county’s business community together again after the difficulties of lockdowns and social distancing.
The Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards 2020, organised by All Things Business magazine, moved online for its glittering awards night in February.
Beamed directly to finalists’ and guests’ homes in a virtual version of what would have been one of the highlights of the business social calendar, the night included a ‘visit’ to Warner’s Distillery in Harrington and live entertainment from singer Faryl Smith.
The winners were announced by the All Things Business team and then invited by Managing Director Ben Thomas to say a few words via video link.
The winners of the 12 awards included Jasmine Abel from Cave & Sons (Apprentice of the Year), Brooklyn Brownie Company (Food and Drink Award), Scott Bader (Employer of the Year), The McCarthy-Dixon Foundation (Community Project or Person of the Year) and Medigold Health (Big Business of the Year).
Ben Thomas said: “My team and I refused to put a stop to the celebration of our county’s hard work and commitment to getting through this tough time and propping others up along the way.
“But, despite the success of the 2020 awards, we can’t wait to get everyone back together for a full-on awards night later this year.”

ADOPTING AUTOMATION
Environmentally friendly accounting firm, My Accountant Friend, are encouraging businesses to consider greater automation in their processes post-Covid.
The company, which specialises in e-commerce and small businesses, are dedicated to using as little paper as possible, describing themselves as “more horseboxes than shoeboxes”.
Partner Kenny Fitzgerald said: “We have identified automation is the key to cutting down on hassle and stress, something that is a must coming out of a lockdown.
“With our direct bank feeds, real time tax liabilities and online platform there is no need for paperwork, books or printing off invoices.”
He added: “We are always here to help and love speaking to new businesses owners, we may even be able to introduce you into our network of other small businesses to help get you off the ground.”
