to our 2021 private treaty Catalogue! What a year it has been, I have said many times to my family that we are very fortunate and blessed to be rural citizens here in Alberta. The farm has been a great place for work and play for the whole family since covid started. We are super excited with the offering this year as we had two new herd sires first calf crops hit the ground as well we continued with our use of AI sires from the past and present. We kept a much larger group of heifer calves back as we were ever so pleased with them as well. We also purchased a number of purebred females last fall adding some diversity to our many repeat buyers needs of different cow families! We continued to build our commercial herd as well in the last twelve months as we feel it is so important that our walking bulls work for the commercial cattleman as well as in the purebred cattle world. With the ongoing concerns about Covid restrictions we understand peoples hesitations to attend larger functions but we want you to know you are always welcome to stop and tour the bullpen, the cow herd and even look over our replacement heifers in the comfort of fresh Alberta air where social distancing comes easy!

SALE INFORMATION Sight Unseen Purchase
Purchasing bulls is very important for the direction and production of your cow herd. It is a never-ending search for bull power to improve traits. Being hands on in our breeding program and knowing your cow herd, we would be pleased to assist you in identifying bulls suited for you. We have developed a wide genetic base in our bulls from power bulls to heifer pen orientated, calving ease bulls throughout every segment.Sight unseen purchases guarantees 100% satisfaction. We would be pleaseed to personally help you find you next herdsire.
Nutrtion
The cowherd is on a year round mineral program which is so important to the overall health and longevity of the bulls. The bulls are raised on a forage based diet that maximizes their genetic potential. This year the bulls have been wintered on high quality first cut silage bales and a balanced grower ration with free choice salt and mineral readily available.
Delivery
Upon your purchase of a new bull from Avelyn Angus we will continue to feed and winter them until April after we have completed the semen wellness evaluation. We will have the semen evaluations completed before April 1st. We guarantee that all purchased bulls will have passed the semen evaluation before delivery arrangements will be made. Upon the issue of a bull unable to reach an acceptable pass we will discuss options with you as to another possibility of equal quality and value, or a credit to a future purchase, or a full refund of the deposit given at time of purchase. We will start delivery sometime in April as weather and time permits. We will gladly work with you to get them to your yard or pasture within a reasonable distance free of charge. If you are unable to receive your bull in April there will be a $3.00/day feed charge from May 1st until delivery.

Crossfire was purchased from the good folks at MJT. He was the second high seller that day and MJT retained a half share interest in him. Chosen for his mass and muscle expression. This new herdsire has a masculine presence and excellent quality of bone with a big old foot on him that our industry demands today to allow feeder cattle to carry the weight needed to be profitable. The icing on the cake was his incredible quiet disposition that makes him ever so easy to handle in our family operation.

Chosen from the Everblack Bull sale in 2019. We call this fella Vern for short. When I previewed the offering with Jordan Gibson I was so very impressed with how evenly stamped the sons of their Vision Unanimous herdsire were. We chose Vern for the ability to sire incredible females as well as maintain that round muscle shape and frame. The dam was impressive and we will continue to improve on our cow herd quality through this young hardsire.

Here is a home raised grandson of the Legendary DMM Miss Essence 61W and her DMM Stache 72Z. We used Epic for a few years on our replacement heifers and some select cows. We loved this sire for his lower quarter, muscle shape and sound foot quality. His mother was a much talked about cow here at Avelyn as she was a daughter in the highly productive 55R cow family and was one of the most beautifully uttered cows we had ever raised. Being as the 55R cow family is one of the largest here at Avelyn we could no longer used Epic and he now walks the pastures of a young breeder in Saskatchewan.

Creed 94C came to us as an embryo. We sold half interest in him as a yearling to Russ & Cindy McGrath. He was a super long spined individual with great feet and legs, big nutts and a really clean front end. We have several daughters in herd that have uddered up beautifully and are sharp fronted feminine kind of cows. We never did get him pictured as he was travelling and working at two different operations. His biggest claim to fame I guess would be his full sister pictured here DMM Miss Essence 105A. This cow is owned by our good friends at Miller Wilson. She has a book full of show credits and several championships as a pair along side her son DMM International. She is a gorgeous cow and we see a lot her in our Creed daughters.

A very popular Crossfire son here at Avelyn born as the 14th calf of the oldest cow on the place. Big topped, lots of width just like we hoped from his sire. We have retained several maternal sisters in the herd. He catches your eye with his masculinity every time you unchain the gate in the bull corral. Here is another Creed son from the a cow that we showed at the World Forum in Calgary in July of ‘09. Yes she is still here, so is her dam for that matter. Longevity is in the genetics if you need some replacements. His sire adds that length to his daughters that leaves them feminine and angular. Heston had the second highest weaning weight this past fall.
