It is my pleasure to invite you all to the 4th Annual Ladies Of The West Bred Heifer Sale. Every year this sale carries more and more traction with the quality of bred heifers brought to this event by these consignors. When I first thought of this sale, it was for folks who aren’t on the show road to market and sell front end bred heifers because they can do what the new owners need them to do, raise progeny without any issues. The graduates I see on the selecting paths across Western Canada is what I envisioned for this sale. Compliments are the key to success!!!
The females that have been selected are right from the top of the consignor’s programs. As they all know, you best bring the good ones to town. This year again they have dug deep into the keeper pen and presented you with an amazing lineup for your appraisal. It has become a sale everyone will not want to miss with the opportunity to buy bred heifers that are made to make an impact on your herd right away with low maintenance, easy doing cattle and bred to top A.I. or walking bulls. The consignors as well as good folks that back their programs up. We will be pairing up females again that have even numbers. We will have some great hospitality as we have had in the past the night before at the Auction Mart where laughs are had, and stories told. Note: Ben Tams won’t be there to roast the sale manager all night, so someone else will have to pick up the slack. Videos of all the bred heifers will be done the day before and put up onto www.cattlevids.ca. Since the sale is a bit later in December than usual, trucking will be coordinated or some of the consignors will offer to calve out their bred heifers for you.
If you need any assistance, please do hesitate to call myself or any of the consignors directly. The OBI Team will be at the sale facility a day before the sale to help with your needs.

This SHOWTIME heifer makes you sit up and take notice with her gorgeous front, width over the hips, huge rib and length! 10L is the first SHOWTIME daughter we have sold. We purchased SHOWTIME, a SHOWMAN son, from HAMILTON FARMS for $80,000 with ALLANDALE ANGUS. Both the females and bulls are proving to be outstanding. The WINDMILL dam is a hard-working cow and excellent producer making her mark here. She has a son working at MOVIN’ ON FARMS as well as here at DOUBLE ‘F’. What makes DFCC 78H LUCKY 10L extra special is she is AI’ed to GREENWOOD FOUR MILE 47J who made a big statement last fall in the show ring. DFCC 78H LUCKY 10L has a bright future.... Check her out on sale day!!!
This attractive SPARKPLUG daughter grabs your attention with her deep rib, smoothness, excellent udder development and overall completeness. 25L’s dam is a 12yr old BREAKAWAY female and is one of the best females we have raised at DOUBLE ‘F’. BREAKAWAY was 2009 RESERVE WORLD CHAMPION BULL and has an important presence in our herd even today. DFCC 41G LIZZIE 25L’s sire SPARKPLUG has consistently produced moderate females that are productive, easy doing, excellent footed with great udders. The SPARKPLUG progeny continues to keep impressing me. We have another outstanding bull in our pen this year from a full sister that you will hear more about in our 2025 bull sale. DFCC 41G LIZZIE 25L deserves good consideration as I believe she could be a game changer!
This would be the first time we have offered a female from the front end of our spring calving herd since the late 90’s in our herd reduction sale. Everblack Boni 156L is a special one. She is big bodied, has loads of hair, great teat placement and is almost as sound as we can make one. With her being a late April born heifer; it is impressive that she can run with the Februarys. What’s even more impressive is she bred up first cycle AI for a late January calf. This mating of Stamina x Boni 300D is a proven one. Last spring, a full brother to 156L was our leadoff and top selling 2 yr old bull gathering up $27,000 to Justin Walter of Big Coulee Angus. That bull, Everblack ROI 166K, would have been one of the more popular bulls we have sold in recent years. The old Stamina 11F bull has proven his worth, selling 67 progeny to date for the exceptional average of $11,300. 156L is bred to the Genex and Coleman Angus herd sire, Coleman Below Zero 2106. The ROI could be large on this female.
If it’s not broken don’t fix it. This mating of Stamina to Sankrista 40D has become as predictable as they come having 4 full sisters so far. The first sister, 85H in our herd, sold her first son this spring in our bull sale for $14,000. The second was a top seller through the Northern Select to Malchuk Farms. The third was last year’s top selling female through this sale at $19,000 to BAR-E-L Angus. This year will be number 4 and she is a sweetheart as well. 61L is a big bodied, nice headed female who looks to be laying down a tremendous udder. We loved this mating so much that we flushed 40D to Stamina and should have a few more daughters to add to the herd next spring. An added bonus, the calf inside. She’s bred up early to the Gatsby bull who was a highlight of the spring sale season with his semen fetching upwards of $400/straw.
The K Lazy T Bravo 12’21 progeny have been very consistent for us. Both bulls and females alike are easy fleshing, exhibit tremendous growth, balance and look. We are extremely excited for his first daughters to calve this year. His service was a highlight at the Macnab Dispersal last fall as well. This female is big middled, long spined and has that momma cow look. Her Dam 417E has been a great long-term producer for us. She produced a past feature female that sold through the Rose Bowl for $10,000 to L&S Livestock and is a top female in their program. Mated to the Eastondale Enduance47’22 bull, who has turned into a terrific calving ease bull for us with a great foot, large scrotal and added length.
If you like females with a bit larger outline, added substance and mass here she is. This lady is massive in terms of rib shape and overall dimension yet remains feminine through her front end. She is one we feel with be the herd bull raising type. Like all Bravo offspring she is supper easy fleshing and has that swooping rib cage we appreciate. Her dam is a larger framed Source female that traces back to one of the original Eggen females we started with. They sure never hurt us, and we expect the same from this matron. The JL Source bull was a past high seller for Johnsons where we acquired him for $19,000. Mated with Everblack Triumph 10K, a past high seller and 3/4 brother to their $32,000, half interest, sale topper this year, Everblack Ace 3004. Creates a pedigree for her first coupon that should be highly marketable.
29L is a direct daughter out of SAV Jesse James, a herd sire we have used a lot in the last couple years, his prodigy are all stamped the same, attractive features, big middles and awesome feet and leg structure. On top of that 29L is a Cheetah, which means longevity and a beautiful udder. AI’ed to one of the most popular heifer bulls in the industry right now LFE Best Answer, you can’t go wrong on this great heifer.
Black Licorice 38L, an exceptional female we are going to be sad to part with. One of our show females we have been very excited about since she was a calf. Licorice 38L possesses so much quality in a big powerful frame. She showcases a beautiful udder and teat placement as every Hendrix daughter does. The future for this female is endless, in the show ring, in the donor pen or in the pasture, she’s the real deal. Favoured to be AI bred to SAV Final Answer.
A daughter out of one of our leading walking herd sires HF Jokers Wild, 15L is a beautiful female with tremendous presence, a beautiful front end, big body and the quality to produce some powerhouse calves down the road. A very exciting breeding piece, as we AI’ed her to our high selling bull from last year’s bull sale PF Viper 34L. Only limited packs of semen were sold on this bull. This breeding combination will produce a big-time performance calf with some very attractive features.
It has been a pleasure watching this Square B Atlantis 8060 daughter develop. Rockies Evening Tinge 1L has an attractive Angus head and clean front. She is deep, wide and powerful throughout. Add this to her feet quality and temperament this heifer is hard to fault. Her dam, HF Evening Tinge 36J is a beautiful young HF Alcatraz daughter with good feet and a picture-perfect udder. We are happy to see that MER 1L is following the same pattern. Whether a bull or heifer, the calf sired by Connealy Craftsman should be a valuable addition to any herd.
This powerful Schiefelbein Attractive daughter, out of one of our favorite cows, is a female we are proud to offer yet sad to sell. MER 12L is as deep as they come with good foot structure and an excellent disposition. Our tagline here at Rockies R Ranch is “Cattle built to last”, this means good feet, good udder, good temperament and most importantly good fertility. We feel MER 12L will excel in these traits. Her homegrown dam MER 92G has never missed an A.I service to this day and this year raised a beautiful 800 lb heifer calf. The bred MER 12L is carrying, sired by Square B Atlantis has the potential to enhance many of these qualities and grow into a valuable and marketable addition to any herd.
This HF Alcatraz 60F daughter is an example of the type of females we strive to raise. She has a clean front, powerful frame and feminine head. Combined with the quality foot structure and smooth movement HF Alcatraz and HA Prime Cut daughters are known for make her an overall attractive addition to any herd. We purchased her dam out of the U2 Ranch Dispersal five years ago and she has done nothing but produce. Her daughters are strong additions to our own herd. This year she raised a powerful Ellingson Three Rivers son which led our 2024 bull calves with the highest WW. Carrying a service to Connealy Craftsman (Sitz Resilient 10208 Son); MER 9L has the potential to knock it out of the park with her first calf.
This year from Avelyn we have consigned a set of 3/4 sisters by our senior herd sire Hollow Point. This is a bull that has stood the test of time and still walks the pastures at Avelyn. I dare say this is one of the most consistent sires we have ever used. The daughters are phenomenal and the sons are making their mark in several commercial operations in Alberta. Our Avelyn Apollo Creed 94’15 was a flush mate to the 105A cow from Miller Wilson Angus. The daughters in our herd are likely the best uddered females to date. Both of these ladies carry a service to our exciting new Jr herdsire HF Hi Range 130L. Should be a coupon in the making!
A female we are really proud to offer in this year’s edition of Ladies of the West. This female goes back to our first ever angus females that we acquired from Grace Hamilton. If you go back through pedigrees in the Angus Association you’ll find that one of the most talked about cows in Canada, Bar-E-L-Erica 74A, goes back to an Erica that came from Grace. 318L has a great udder coming down and stands on a very strong foot. Her dam is still producing for us at 12 years old and her grand dam produced until she was 16. We absolutely love the way that Crossfire crossed on our Networth daughters. Bred to Riverside Major 130L preg checked safe for the start of February.
The first daughter of HF Spittin’ Image that we will offer. She is moderate, deep sided and feminine fronted. We really like our Tibbe females; they are cows that work well for us. They are strong footed, good uddered cows that maintain condition and breed up early on minimal input. Spittin’ Image is a maternal brother to none other than HF Alcatraz 60F. His dam is designated elite in the Canadian Angus herdbook.
Miss Quality 50L is a broody, moderate framed yet bold ribbed direct daughter of the popular SAV Renown 3439 who has left tremendous sons and daughters in countless herds, and who’s semen is very limited. 50L is a close replica of her dam Miss Quality 60F who is a no-miss daughter of KCF Bennett Total, who are also a rare commodity, she has a perfect foot and udder, and she knows how to raise ‘em. A full brother to Miss Quality 50L was our heaviest calf this fall. Buy this heifer with confidence as her cow family has truly been a great one here. Service sire to HRH 50L, Peak Dot Boost 137H, has been a real game changer here, with low birth and absolutely scale crushing weaning weights.
HRH Pride 104L is a soft made, maternal heifer with great feet and temperament. Pride 104L is a daughter of our home raised herdsire that we own with our good friend Jim Hansen, that has left some great daughters at both places. He was the result of breeding our Bar-E-L Miss Middlebrook cow to our senior herdsire Bar-E-L Liberty 166F. What a great mating it turned out to be. He has impeccable feet, large scrotal and great docility. Dam to 104L was a purchase from the Hofstra family at Avelyn Angus, she’s been an awesome cow, with a great udder, feet, and puppy dog quiet. Her progeny has been well received, with a son sold to Hansen’s as well and a daughter to EPP Farms at Athabasca. Service sire to 104L is a home raised very attractive calving ease son of the SITZ Alliance 6595 sire that left incredible daughters, and his dam is a tank of a daughter of Coleman Bravo. He is owned with our good friends at Section One Angus.
Allandale Rosebud 4L is a daughter of PM Executive Decision 5’17 herdsire and our Rosebud 17Z dam that has been a producer for me. 10 for 10, she hasn’t missed with 3 females kept in herd, 38F selling to Jones Land & Cattle at the Northern Select Sale and 22H selling to Rack Red Angus at the LOTW Sale. Quite the track record 17Z has. 4L will also the ability to be a long-term female in your herd. She is bred to a partnership bull from our Coleman Donna 6205 donor cow and sired by Bar-E-L Stamina 11F (Herdsire at Everblack Angus that has taken their herd to a new level).
Allandale Ruby 35L is a HF Outlier 49G daughter that sure is a powerhouse female. Her dam KBJ Ruby 215B goes back to a tremendous female, Lookout Ruby 61X owned now by Chittick Farms. 215B has also been a producer at Allandale Angus, 8 for 8 in her career. Buy these females from dams like these and you can’t go wrong. 2 females in herd and 1 to Sprucefield Farms (Ruby 92F). She is bred to Musgrave Stunner for an end of Jan calf.
PLC 90L is a future cow in the making, this is one that is going to put some wicked good bull calves on the ground. She is thick, deep, wide, and yet still holds her feminine attractiveness. She also has a super impressive hair coat! Her sire Pedersen Horizon 96H is one that has put some amazing females into our herd. He has added bone, muscling, and a solid foot under his offspring. Her Dam is a cow that we bought from Rivercrest Angus Ranch and have been impressed with her calves each and every year. We are super excited to see this one turn into a fantastic cow. Bred for a January calf to Hoover Counselor N29, calving ease giant with explosive numbers. Top 1% for Heifer Pregnancy in the breed.
This heifer has all the attributes of the Ruby cow family that we love. She is super attractive meanwhile having the power and performance to layout money making calves year after year. PLC 537L is a spitting image of her dam, and she is a cow we think a lot of. Her Dam is very attractive with a sweet udder and ad given us some super cool bull calves over the years. Her Sire Werner Flat Top 4136 is an AI bull we have used for a few years, and we have appreciated the style of females he has produced for us. PLC 537L is sure to make on heck of a momma cow! Again, she is bred for a January calf. Hoover Counselor N29 traces back to Connealy Counselor on the top side.
A powerful daughter of Sitz Major 707F with a very strong maternal pedigree. She is very attractive, feminine fronted and stands and travels on very good feet. With a modest 74 lb. BW she has an exceptional performance. Certainly, an easy doing heifer. 43L is from a great daughter of HF All-Round. His daughters have been well accepted in past LOTW sales by astute breeders, including the Chase family of Waveny Angus, Haydock family of Matlock Farms & Rancho 5K from Mexico. All-Round can also be found in the pedigree of a number of bulls working in purebred herds including for Francis Parsons’ Sunny Ridge Ranch in Manitoba. Note the dam 21G was also the dam of Chico’s LOTW 2022 Sale heifer to Triple L Angus, Viscount, SK; a son works for the Giles family’s Circle J Ranch at Cochrane. Service sire is the very popular Woodhill Revival who has 183 offspring reported with avg. BW for bull calves of 80 lbs. and heifers at 79 lbs. Both male and female offspring have sold as high dollar sale lots.
A smooth made, easy doing, very correct daughter of Sitz Major from an impressive HF Quick Draw 2-year-old with good feet and great udder. 40L is stout and deep with huge volume, big ribbed, feminine fronted and as balanced and correct in her make up as they come. She is also very good-footed and shows the start of a great udder. Bonus is her sweet disposition and a number of high dollar animals in her pedigree. Her sire Sitz Major is producing impressive & extremely sought after offspring. He has a huge EPD spread with CE and most impressive growth. The service sire, Woodhill Revival was the high seller at $55,000 at Woodhill’s 2021 sale. He combines calving ease, growth, feed conversion & eyecatching phenotype. MWC 1K is a McCumber Tribute 702 son from Rosebud 6F, a top feature cow at MWC and our pick of the entire cow herd
A sweet made, eye catching daughter of the impressive Chico Honolulu 35H, a Stunner son from an exceptional dam from the Andee cow family. Honolulu offspring avg. 81 lbs. for males and 79 lbs. for females. 57L’s dam is a hard-working All-Round daughter with a good udder and correct make up. 57L has been a favorite for many who have toured the herd. Born mid-March she is moderate framed, very correct in her phenotype and is a ¾ sister to 64L also in this sale. A full sister was selected last year by Orrin Henn, Bitter Creek Ranch as part of a group to start his purebred Angus herd. Two paternal sisters were pick of the heifer calves by Ron McLeod, Lethbridge. The service to Justification is exciting. Justification is a son of the great KG Justified and from the famed Abigale cow family. He is physically impressive combining body capacity, stoutness & exceptional foot quality. Chico Legit 45L is by Sitz Major out of a stellar HF Quick Draw daughter, he comes from the very top of the bull pen.
Just an April daughter of another All-Round dam and by Chico Honolulu making her a ¾ sister to 57L in this sale. Her young age has not held her back as she has developed into attractive female that is sweet made, combining Stunner on the top side of her pedigree with All-Round on the bottom. Note both All-Round and Honolulu sons are working in purebred and commercial herds from Alberta to Manitoba. 64L is an easy doing, exceptionally correct, smooth made heifer with a good disposition and a strong maternal pedigree. She stands and moves squarely on very correct feet with good udder development. A maternal sister to 64L was also selected last year by Bitter Creek Ranch. All Chico heifers have been developed on grass pasture with no creep as calves and no grain once moved to the breeding paddock. Photos and video were taken straight off pasture. The service to Woodhill Revival will be exciting, whether a bull or heifer calf.
Donna is a classy bred heifer, I’ve enjoyed watching her develop, I feel she is a one of my most complete heifers I have ever raised, 2G, her mother possess a stoutness unmatched in my herd, a beautiful very moderate cow that was purchase from Delar Angus as an open, The sire PM Natural Law 12H has done wonderful things in our herd and his presence will be felt for many years to come; don’t miss out on this Donna, she’s a show stopper.
This lovely lady stole my attention at an early age. Her mother 30E was my first purchase at the Northern Select Sale from the great herd at Allandale Angus. We have kept 3 daughters from her in our herd all producing very well for us. 1 Son sold to Wayne Grob as well. 30E possess a great mother ability, decent feet and udder; she’s a favorite:) If you like them correct and easy doing, she came out of the field looking like a boss. Bred to a Calving ease bull we purchase this spring Standard Hill Flint 21L.
Here is a heifer with lots of extra capacity and eye appeal. Her sire Janssen Dow Jones 0005 is a bull that is leaving us some great offspring that are extremely easy fleshing and checks all the boxes. Her young Dam is a Cudlobe Deluxe 112B Daughter that is off to great start. A heifer that is not easy to part with. She is bred to a powerful bull we purchased at the 2024 Mohnen Angus Bull Sale, Virtue 3303.
A powerful heifer with lots of eye appeal. She is out of an extremely powerful SAV Traveler 6431 daughter with this being her 12th calf. Her sire HF Ovation 39H was our pick of the Showman bulls in Hamilton Farms 2021 Bull Sale.
HRH May 52L & 58L are maternal E.T. sisters from our flush cow Red Minburn May 300Y. We flushed her to many different bulls over the last few years, and all have worked very well on her. For those who don’t know, 300Y is a flush sister to the immortal, maternal legend Copenhagen 3Y. And yes, she is all we expected after seeing what Copenhagen has done over the years. She has phenomenal feet, picture perfect udder, lots of dark red hair, and is very broody. The sire to HRH 52L is Red MRLA Resource 137E, he was used to add power to 300Y, and it worked perfectly. May 52L has power yet great structure and balance, dark red hair and will lay down and have your next herdsire. 2 flush brothers to 52L were our high selling bulls this spring. Sire to HRH 58L is the maternal great Red U2 Reckoning 149A, who needs no introduction. This mating was all females, and they are awesome, with great feet and nice udders dropping down. 58L has that maternal look to her, with a beautiful angus head and bold rib. Wish I had a whole herd of these type. These two bred heifers are definitely worth the trip to Innisfail to see, you won’t be disappointed. They are the type of females to build a cow family around. These are tough girls to let go, but we believe in bringing your best to town. HRH 52L was hand bred to our newest heifer bull Red SSS Tempo 263L. He was a $21,000 purchase from the spring SSS bull sale. And he is bound to leave maternal structurally correct cattle. We are very excited about his future here.
A standout in the pen!!! RED DFCC 101J LOVELY LADY 44L might be the best RED heifer we have raised so far.... Mark had to do lots of talking to get her! 44L exhibits tremendous potential with her massive rib, big hip, overall soundness, attractiveness and picture-perfect udder. This will be the only heifer we will sell out of our TER-RON GENIUS bull. 101J was lost in his first year of breeding, which is disappointing as we love what he has done to help build our RED herd. RED DFCC 101J LOVELY LADY 44L’s dam is a beautiful uddered TRIPLE L STAUNCH daughter we bought at the TOUCH OF CLASS Sale. She has turned into a very productive female and brings in a good one every year! I see RED DFCC 101J LOVELY LADY 44L being a future donor cow and making an impact in the RED ANGUS breed!!
Prettier than a picture, correct and well portioned, 56L is a great representation of the Pathy family at Lauron. She is sired by the tried-and-true Scenic Route who cut a wide swath by making efficient maternal and tremendously uddered momma cows. Bred favorably to Red Cockburn Elevation 65K for early February calf, his first crop are impressive and will have a positive influence for a neat coupon. Elevation 65K is a Red LWNBRG Slowburn 102H son, the foot improver.
With a rich auburn coat, deep ribbed and broody, 53L is a female with plenty of natural muscle with all the makings of an exceptional momma cow. Her dam came to us via the RSL Red Angus production sale. Expect her to mature into a typical Block Buster daughter with an impeccable udder with ample milk and the ability to produce regardless of any mating. She is bred to a Red Pie Captain son we bought from W Sunrise this past spring.
From the prolific and proven Blackbird cow family, 67L is a classic representative with her super feminine front, long spine and deep rib. Dam is very eye appealing with her no-fault profile and udder structure. She is sired by Red Mar Mac DM Trooper 39G who provides explosive growth and now with numerous highly productive daughters online, both our Red Round Up consignments were from Trooper daughters. Confidently and proudly offered to become a female you can also brag about. Bred to the calving ease bull (BW 72 lbs and WW 771 lbs) Red Pie Captain 057 son.
Redcap is a powerful and deep bodied female right from the very top of our program! She is the broody type that will produce the type of offspring that will give you a quick return on investment in todays markets. Halter broke as a calf the bred is a docile and a gentle sweetheart. Sired by the great Duralta Momentum that is shaking up the industry with his phenomenal offspring! We couldn’t be happier with the impact he has left here at PIRO. Redcap’s dam 703E is a moderate made cow with a picture-perfect udder that has been one of our leading producers. Her McGregor bull calf at side this year is incredible and will be a bull sale feature! With the Redcap, Momentum and MacGregor combination this baby inside will be a great return on investment in just 3-4 weeks time.
If you are looking for a bred that will make a great cow and last a long time, Bonita 344L is for you! Maternally backed by a superb cow family Bonita goes back to the great Bonita 2E cow that has been an icon in the Red Angus breed. Bonita’s dam 7194E is one of the most correct and attractive females on our ranch, with an exceptional udder and perfect foot and leg structure that she passed along into her daughter! 344L is bred to a Duralta Momentum son we raised and sold ½ interest to Royal Rock Angus. He was Reserve Grand Champion in Olds this October and Yearling Champion Bull in Lloydminster also looking forward to what Farm Fair thinks of him this week. An exciting Mating out of a rock-solid cow family bred to a bull we are truly extremely proud of raising!
If you are looking for a broody, powerhouse female then here she is. Dark cherry red, wide topped, tons of rib shape on top of being an easy do’er. She has some power behind her with her sire being Red DKF Razor 55C (sire of Red DKF Racer 8EMany Time Show Champion) and having Red Lone Stone Revolver 138Z on the dam side. Rose 259L is a standout in the pen and is a female you do not want to miss out on. Vet called her Mid Feb; we will pay for the DNA on this bred heifer.
WOW. This heifer is a beauty. Very smooth made in an attractive package. She is from a cow family that gets the job done. Her dam is still in the herd at 14 years of age and still going strong. She just weaned off a heifer calf that is in the keeper pen. RAML Payload 9500 is a new AI sire that we started using a couple of years ago and he sure stamps his progeny. She is bred to an outcross bull, Red Pie Complete 221, that will help the marketability for the new owners.
Here is a moderate framed well-balanced female. Her sire Red YCR Exon 1736E was a bull we purchased from Yarrow Creek that has left us with some females in our herd and produced some great bulls for our sales. On the bottom side you have Red NCJ Lazy MC Venom 34Z, a bull who has performed well in the Red Angus breed.
Ardath is a looker for sure with her shape, presence and soundness. She is very feminine in her make up with lots of middle, rib and top. Ardath will be an easy keeper as are all the females from the Ardath cow family originating from Red Shoderee Ardath 31T purchased from Shoderee Ranch in their Dispersal Sale.300L is bred to Red Pie Quarterback 0814, calving ease giant with a -3.2 BW EPD and +14 CE.
Dark red, stout made, balanced and very attractive female. Hailey comes from a very strong cow family. Her dam raised another very good daughter this year and her granddam has been tremendous, raising a heifer who was Champion Senior Yearling at Olds Fall Classic 2024. Maternal power is stacked into this pedigree when you add the 99X cow, who was for many years my favorite cow and the model angus cow 8A, dam of Clooney. 183L looks the part and on paper she has the females behind her to become a valuable breeding piece in your herd. 183L is safe to Red Lauron Blockbuster 78B.
Big barreled, soft made, great haired, very complete heifer we have admired since day 1. 261L was part of a very successful flush with one sister being a high seller to Mexico and two others retained in herd. 111E has been a cornerstone female for us with 8 daughters retained in our herd. The 42G bull has earned a lot of Respect here. He has sired Jaguar and Kujo at Redrich and numerous outstanding daughters. 261L is safe to Red Moose Creek Clooney 20D, so the calf she is carrying is a ¾ sib to our High Selling Bull last year.
167L is one very deep broody dark red female with a ton of rib. She comes right from the top of our bred heifer pen. The cow family at Howe Angus is one we treasure with longevity and productivity. This female is going to be a bigtime brood cow. Her sire, Red Dersta Power Train 106J was a bull we obtained tracing back to the great donor cow, Red DSM Miss Seaman 606D for Dersta Farm Ltd. The pedigree and this female speak for herself.
Our first ever Red Angus bred heifer to be offered. When we started our Red Angus program, we had the opportunity to tour the Shiloh herd one spring and were very impressed with the Red Bone females, we knew we had to find a way to incorporate him into our program. We have multiple Red Bone daughters working in our herd. They are the ideal Red Angus females, excellent feet, very good uddered cows that wean big calves and maintain condition well. 340L is about as dark as you can make one. She has a really nice udder coming down. Bred to Red Riverside Lighthouse 305L, High Selling Red Duff Red Bear son at our Bull Sale.
Here’s a real feminine, easy moving daughter of Red ELF 42 Tic Tok 143J, she’s been a pen favorite. Sired by Tic Tok a son out of our donor cow Chloe and sired by Red MRL Respect 42G. On her dam’s side a stacked pedigree with the likes of Red U2 Authentic, to back her up Red Ter-Ron Read Deal 1W, and Red Fine Line Mulberry 26P. A brood cow in the making with numbers to match. Due in early Feb with the service of Red Ter-Ron Lookout 34L. (BW - 72 Lbs) A son of Red Ter-Ron Judo 56J.
A dark red heifer, good footed and from an exceptional cow family. The Ester cow family is consistent in producing females for the replacement pen and 374L fits that mold. Sired by our Triple S bull who is a son of Red MRL Resource 137E and a Red Ter-Ron Parker momma. Due in early Feb to a bull we obtained this year from Ter-Ron Farms. His dam is flat outstanding, Red TerRon Brandy 5X, a 14-year-old cow.
Lillico 14L packs a punch combining pedigree and functional build. Moderate in frame with extra bold rib shape best describes this maternal powered heifer. Her sire Red MLRA Resource 137E speaks for himself, backed by Red Leachman Gold Robber breeding on her dam side offers added value. Lillico’s maternal sister sold in the 2023 LOTW sale and is now working for Kyle & Jessica Price of Charcoal Creek Cattle Co, Ft. Fraser, BC. Halter Broke. She should very well be setting the table by sale day. Both bred to the very good bull we obtained from HOTV, Red Circle G Glint 7G. He is walking our pastures now and his calves are flat outstanding.
Cow families are the base of any good breeding program. Lavista 211L is a practical, functional, pedigree packed bred heifer that checks all the boxes to be productive and profitable. She is the first Stout Bros. “Red River 22G” daughter ever offered at public auction. Her dam is a hard working, direct daughter of the potent breeding Heart of the Valley herd sire, Red U2 Bono 215D. This extra extension female stands on a good sound foot. Halter Broke.
304L was one that I was kind of hoping would have slipped through Mark’s notes and would have stayed in our herd. 304L is from our Thelma cow family and we don’t have a lot of females retained in herd from this cow family, but we have walked two bulls from this cow family that have made a lasting impression on our herd. The most exciting part of 304L could be that she is a daughter of the 2012 Farmfair Supreme Champion Bull. We still use a couple straws of Barndance every year, with the hopes of getting a female with every calf. His females always have brought in some of our top calves every year and they are all dark pigmented with excellent feet and udders. Safe to the breeding of Red Goad Resolve 183’23 a Red BCC Resolution son and out of one of our top producing cows going back to our Reba cow family.
After touring through the bred heifers with Mark, he said Well I know for sure there will be a JJL Duke heifer coming to Ladies and 328L was the lucky selection. Our Duke females are all big bodied, round muscled, nice footed, and big-time performance to raise herd bulls. We like our females to be performance based and have natural substance. We feel that this allows us to have a wider variety of sires to breed our females to each year. 328L’s dam is a young cow in our herd but is quickly making a statement to be a top producing cow at a very young age following in her dam’s footsteps. Maternal siblings to 328L’s dam are working at Lust Farms and Little de Ranch. We also walked a maternal brother to 328L in our heifer pen. This is a cow family that produces a calf in the replacement pen every year. The mating to Red Lauron Block Buster 78B is one to remember. Combining Block Buster’s extreme calving ease and the power and growth of Duke, the resulting calf should easily find their way into the new owner’s replacement pen.
Watch out Lass 10G has another daughter coming to town. Lass 4L is a sired by Six Mile Lawman which this year was the first daughters were milking, and they have been great. Lass is dark red in color and has some added growth and length. If anything like her dam, she is going to be one good mother cow. Lass is due early February for a McGowan Astro baby. This is great genetic package of maternal and soundness while being bred to a calving ease different pedigree bull.
Well Marie hasn’t disappointed us the few months as she is turning into something special. If your ideal herd is moderate, easy doing, tanky females, well 19L is one to take a drive to look at. If anything like her dam, she will have longevity and carry it on to her progeny. Marie is a wide based, big-rounded hip kind of female. Being we lost her dam last winter, 19L will be dearly missed to carry on with the cow family but the new owner should be very excited. She is also ultrasounded safe for an early February baby.
The one and only Red Mann Red Box daughter we got is being sold. The Red Box progeny have been very sought after across the land, deep sided females that will be front pasture females. Very easy keeping. A daughter of 51E; out of one of our strongest, most productive cow families. Sure to produce top notch calves in your herd that won’t go unnoticed. Bred to Pie Quarterback 0814 for a very marketable coupon.
A SSS Tycoon 225E daughter that we really like. A well-balanced female with strong EPDs that we would have liked to retain for our herd. Bred to Red Pacific Browning 65J from Brad Chappell at Heart of the Valley. A bull that Roger sourced for us that we think highly of.
The Fine Line Packer 20B daughters here at Anchor 1 Angus are notorious for passing on immaculate foot quality to their progeny. Vernice 177L is a feminine, dark red, sweetheart of a female with an extremely attractive look to her. Among a very strong group of replacement females 177L has been a favorite of ours since spring and the dam behind her played a huge part in helping us select her for the “Ladies of the West Sale”. Her dam 87E is a big powerful, deep bodied momma cow from the heart of our AI program. Also, cherry red in color, 87E displays flawless structure and tremendous milking ability. Her 2024 born Tycoon son will surely be a bull sale highlight for us come spring 2025. At Anchor 1 Angus we are strong believers in selling quality cattle that will work well in any program going forward and marketing cattle that we ourselves would show an interest in purchasing and 177L checks all the boxes for us. Vernice 177L was exposed this spring to the 2024 High Selling Red Angus bull we purchased from the good folks at Pugh Farms and is preg checked safe for an early February due date.
With 2 calendar years of Moonshine daughters now in production and this exciting 3rd set on the way, we are genuinely starting to see their value and overall aptitude to raise high performance cattle with tremendous marketability.
