We are here to sell you the right bull for your program. We believe you need to see for yourself the animals we have on display. However, if you cannot make it to view the animals before sale time, please contact any of the above sale day numbers and we will find an animal that fits your needs and budget to the best of our ability. All information is kept confidential.

Fertility

All bulls are semen tested and the scrotal measurements are taken before sale day by a certified veterinarian and will be provided on sale day. Any bulls who are decision deffered will be noted and presented up front before sale time.

Terms of Sale

Payment is required in Canadian Dollars via Cash or cheque. All invoices must be settled before delivery of animal unless prior arrangements are made. All bulls are sold under the Canadian Angus Association standard terms and conditions. In all cases the seller is not responsible for more than what the animal sold for. OBI Livestock Ltd. will be sending out the invoices after the sale is completed.

Delivery

We are offering free delivery within 300 km of farm, anything over 300 km will require futher arrangemnets. We will hold the animals free of charge until April 15th, after such date the amount of $3.00/day will be charged until delivery or pick up is made. Any animals staying at the farms must be insured. If you pick up your animal within a week of sale day, we are offering $100 dollar refund of your animal purchased.

Welcome to our 2nd annual bull sale. Our first sale led to some great new customers and friends, and we are so thrilled about the opportunities it has created for our customers as well as ourselves. We welcome our great friends from Lucky 7 Cattle Co. into a joint sale effort and wish them great success with the quality animals they have on offer.

We feel so blessed and honoured to be a part of not only the agricultural industry, but especially cattle sector. In the 18 years we have been raising angus cattle we have seen more community spirt, more support in a crisis and more positivity in the last year then we have in a long time! That not only gets us so excited for the future but also for our 3rd generation as they start to become more and more involved. We feel strongly that the 2023 bull pen reflects the excitment and continued effort for better genetics and ways to meet our customers needs.

Directions: From Leduc take HWY 2A south to Glen Park Rd (twp 490) and head east 1.5 miles to Range Road 245. Take RR 245 North 3/4 mile and we are the second driveway on the west side.

After a challenging year with the rainy season that ended quickly at the end of July to the dry months of August, September and October we have persevered and put together a great set of bulls from within our herd. These bulls are raised on grass and mamas milk until weaning. When the grass dried up, we weaned earlier than normal and started the bulls on a 14% Bull Developer ration as well as free choice 14% alfalfa grass mix of hay. This is the program we have stayed with all fall and winter. We believe that slower growth leads to greater health and longevity when our bulls go to work for you. With that being said, we invite you to come for a tour between now and sale day and check out our program first hand, so you can buy with confidence! On sale day we will host an open house with food, refreshments and good ol’ hospitality. If you can’t make it to the open house or for a tour of the pen but are in need of a bull you can always give us a call and we can advise on a great choice personally.

The bull pen this year is one we are extremely proud of. A silent reward for past breeding decisions. Whether you are looking for a calving ease or a performance bred bull for your program we feel there is a bull to meet your needs. The bulls have been developed on free choice hay, oat greenfeed, 16% Bull Ration pellet from Country Junction Feeds and Rite-Lix 32-18 Mineral Tubs. We have always fed our bulls with the mentality if we had to breed with them tomorrow, they would be able to get the job done. The heifers on offer stem from our most productive cow families and if they weren’t in the sale, we would be breeding them to keep. They have been developed on free choice hay, oat greenfeed and RiteLix 32-18 Mineral tubs.

The decision was not made lightly to put Peterbilt in the sale but with our small herd the need to switch up bull power more often is necessary.

• Peterbilt was purchased from Dwajo Angus through the On Target bull sale in 2020. He’s a bull we admired for his presence, length of body, foot structure, overall balance and the way he could get out and move. At coming four years of age he has never had his feet trimmed and still moves like a cat. He’s an athletic bull and an efficient breeder.

• We have used Peterbilt on cows and heifers with little to no assistance but due to his size we recommend him strictly for cows today. Bull calves have averaged 88 lbs and heifers averaged 82 lbs at birth.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DLMS FARM GATE TIMED AUCTION WITH EXTENDED BIDDING:

1.Visit dlms.ca and follow the link to the DLMS FarmGate timed auction site www.farmgatetimedauctions.ca, click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button. First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots or someone challenges your proxy bid and this is why you will be asked for both your current email and cell phone number.

2. You can choose your favourite lots in this sale at this time and the program will allow you to open either all sale lots or just your favorite lots on your screen. Any time there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list you will get a text and/or an email noting this activity.

3. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. This in fact protects your interest in any lot of interest for you to a specified dollar value you set, when you may not be able to give 100% attention to the sale. If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500.

4. At closing time of the sale the entire sale will extend bidding if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after close time will extend the sale by the time listed on each sale. In Most cases the time gets shorter the longer in to extended bidding the sale is. When no bidding occurs for the extended time the computer will declare the sale finished.

I encourage you to join Avelyn Angus March 7th, 2023, for their annual online bull sale. Their forages are feed tested each fall. With that information in hand, we are able to build the overall complete diet. The bull feeding program is built to maximize forage utilization and gut health; they are developed on grass with their moms and then moved onto a balanced ration that promotes lean muscle. The bulls are challenged with a foraged based ration to help them develop to their genetic potential. Organic minerals are used to ensure proper immune function and overall health.
