The Lake Anna Safe Boating Coalition is composed of local law enforcement, emergency services, the Lake Anna Civic Association, Dominion Power, the Lake Anna Chamber of Commerce, the Lake Anna Business Partnership, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 87, the Lake Anna State Park and businesses that serve the Lake Anna community. We are united in our goal to promote safe boating practices on Lake Anna.

Think Safety:
Wear a life jacket: Coast Guard approved, good condition and proper fit. It can save your life If you have it on.
Carry all mandated state safety equipment on your boat. Make sure it is in good working order.
Before you get underway, tell someone on shore: who is with you on your boat, where you are going, what your boat looks like, and when you plan to come off the water.
Prepare for emergencies: bring water, a first aid kit, and a fully charged cell phone that gets reception on the water.
Don’t drink and boat.
Boat Safely: Skippers, you are responsible for whatever happens on your boat: operation, passengers’ safety, even your wake. Take a safe boating class. Practice boating skills.
Drive defensively: keep a sharp lookout, pay attention, be aware of your surroundings at all times, be able to locate your position on the water.
Maintain a safe speed--speed that allows you enough time to avoid a collision. Know the “Rules of the Road” on the water: heed regulatory markers, especially “No Wake” zones under bridges--Slow
