The colorful sign has come to symbolize all the trappings of Sin City and thousands of tourists snap pictures of the signs each year. Broadway street signs: The first known mention of Broadway Street in Manhattan is from 1642. The street is 13 miles long stretching from Bronx to Westchester County. For the arts community the Broadway sign has become synonymous with Manhattan’s theatre district.

Beverly Hills sign in Beverly Hills Gardens Park. Anyone of a certain generation will certainly think of the line “swimming pools, movie stars” when they think of Beverly Hills. The sign located in the park was erected in 1911 as is actually a replica of one build for the Beverly Hills’ city centre. Nullarbor Plain Crossing sign: This sign is located in Southern Australia and reads “Nullarbor Plain, Eastern End of Treeless Plain.” For both locals and tourists, crossing this plain is considered an essential part of the outback experience. Underground signs in London, England: These red, white and blue signs indicating stations in London’s subway system first appeared on the scene in 1908. For tourists who wish to have their very own authentic and Underground signs, they can be purchased from the Transport for London online store with a starting price of 645 pounds. A number of station names are available for these made to order signs. The Chicago Theatre Sign: This famous sign stands at an impressive height reaching nearly six stories. Hollywood Sign: Located on Mount Lee overlooking Los Angeles California, the letters making up sign each stand 45 feet tall. The entire sign is 350 feet long. This American landmark is in some ways a happy accident, as it was never meant to be permanent when it was first constructed. Rather, it was actually created in as an advertisement for a real estate development company in 1923 – originally reading Hollywood land. The sign was only supposed to up for 18 months, but as it happened to be erected during the Golden Age of Hollywood, the sign quickly became iconic to the area and so it remained standing.
