We CHANGE LIVES
A
t the College of the Arts, we are changing lives every day through exceptional education, outstanding artistic performances and exhibits and meaningful outreach programming. And when lives are bettered, society is improved. When society improves, it is reflected in the quality of life experienced by the members of that community. Investing in the arts is investing in human and civic potential. To those of you who support the arts, I extend my thanks. To those of you who believe the arts are best left to those who can afford them, I urge you to consider a world without music, art, design, drama, dance, film or television. The arts force conversations that we didn’t know we needed – conversations about value, relationships, responsibility, beauty, the human condition, social justice, spirituality, equality and disenfranchisement. The arts celebrate all that is good in us and shine a light on that which needs to be repaired. The arts define and question, create community and connection.
Simply put, the arts change lives. The College of the Arts stands on a solid foundation with an ever-increasing reputation for success and a leadership team committed to the College’s continued growth and student achievement. We are truly ready for the next level of engagement – one of additional degree programs, expanded facilities and enhanced community impact. As you read through this report, you will note that we are on schedule to meet our goals and objectives for 2015-2016. In spring of 2015, we established a new Board of Advisors made up of outstanding business leaders across the community and beyond. The board will be instrumental in achieving our goals not only this year but also in the future. Our students are thriving, thanks in part to our new Academic Resource Center for Students (ARCS). ARCS has been crucial in assisting students with whatever problems may arise, whether they are adjustment issues, class concerns or financial needs.

We are excited about each department’s plans for the next year, and we’re also very pleased with their accomplishments this past year. The Department of Dance is on track to offer the Master of Fine Arts in Dance, and the School of Art and Design will offer concentrations in both illustration and digital animation. We are proud to serve our students and the community, and to bring the performing arts and arts education to Kennesaw, metro Atlanta, surrounding states and across the world.
