Anam nēsis Forget Me Not Marking Time RITES
FORGET ME NOT
August 22 – December 13, 2015 The show focuses on conceptual practices that mirror the process of memory through forgetting--blurring, gaps, irregularities in a normally regular format, bit rot, decay, hidden values, and mnemonic devices. This group exhibition includes a number of contemporary female artists, non-art and art objects from collections. The exhibition will also include a research project by the curators that will unearth and visualize past significant art events and local organizations in the 1970s that were started, run, or organized by women who are still integral to the arts in Atlanta. Artists include: Kelly Kristin Jones, Katherine Taylor, Jess Jones, Emily Gomez, Gretchen Hupfel, Zipporah Camille Thompson, Judith Scott, Lauren Peterson, and Penelope Umbrico.

RITES
August 22 – December 6, 2015 Fahamu Pecou, Guest Curator
The tradition of a rite of passage is common in many cultures and marks the transition from one existence into another. Though these rites still exist, for many Black men around the world, there is no one tried and true way to mark or measure their manhood. This exhibition considers the role of such an informal system for determining how one becomes a man, specifically, a black man. This exhibition features the work of several black male artists, whose works are commentary on the coming-of-age process, individually and collectively.
MARIA ARTEMIS: ANAMNĒSIS

ongoing ANAMNĒSIS: WORKS BY RUTH ZUCKERMAN August 22, 2015 – Summer 2017
Maria Artemis Guest Curator This exhibition explores the work of Ruth Zuckerman through the eyes of Maria Artemis, an Atlanta-area sculptor who knew Zuckerman and her work.

ART AIDS AMERICA
February 20 – May 21, 2016
Jonathan David Katz And Rock Hushka, Curators Opening Reception February 20, 2015, 6-8 p.m. This exhibition is the first comprehensive overview and reconsideration of 30 years of art made in response to the AIDS epidemic in the United States. The works featured foreground the role of HIV/AIDS in shifting the development of American art away from the cool conceptual foundations of postmodernism and toward a new, more insistently political and autobiographical voice. Art AIDS America surveys significant American art from the early 1980s to the present, reintroducing and exploring the whole spectrum of artistic responses to HIV/AIDS, from in-your-face activism to quiet elegy.
