Kenneth Randløv
1
Hello My name is Kenneth Randløv, 26 of age, and I’m an industrial designer. I love developing solutions with the user and functionality in focus and to create results which satisfy the end-user as well as the manufacturer. I like getting involved and I’m currently a board member of my housing association and the former vice-chairman of the study program’s travel committee. When I’m not designing for the future, I spend my time watching a ton of movies and dreaming of my next travel destination.

Priva inhaler An inhaler for COPD patients Group Project - 2016 Theme - Home health care The Priva Inhaler is designed with users in mind and how to “force“ or nudge people into using thier inhaler correctly - Every time.
My main work areas

Research
User tests
3D printing

Improper inhaler technique A wrong inhaler technique can cause an exacerbation of the disease and further limit the patients in their daily life.
50 %
37 %
Forgets to make a full expiration before inhalation
77 %
Do not hold their breath for 10 seconds
Has an incorrect head positioning
User testing During the project a gropu of elderly COPD patients participated in three feedback and testing workshops. These workshops helped to confirm or disprove ideas aswell as giving some new insights into the their experiences with inhalers.
8
Testing of how different inhaler angles can help people opening their airways
Simple mock-ups were build
Unique selling points
To stand out in a Red Ocean of inhalers, Priva needs to be unique. Priva does this in multiple ways, all with that in common to help the user inhale correctly.
d to test functionality
Refillable Priva is a personal medical device to be used for many years. A cartridge in the top provides medicine to the inhaler, which can be changed when needed.
Clear feedback and feedforward An E-Ink screen displays simple reminders to the user. The technology ensures easy readability, as the light is reflected correspondingly to regular ink on paper.
Intuitive head angle The angle on Priva intuitively helps the user to obtain a correct head-position and can be compared to the intuition used when drinking from a bottle.
Images on phones were used to test timers and sounds.
Testing on screens distance, text size and if people would look at a screen while inhaling

Hazardous work situations Changing a disc brake on a truck is much like doing it on a car. Just four times heavier. The disc brake and hub are attached to each other and weighs around 60 kg, which the mechanic lift from the axle by hand.
Lifting 60 kg while inside the wheel cap.
Mock-ups
Sitting on the knees while loosening the bolts.
Working under the whhel cap, on the knees.
Simple wooden models was used to show concepts to the mechanics on-site. The mechanics was used throughout the project to get first hand feedback from the ones working with trucks everyday.
12
How it works After aligning Freno and the disc brake, the impact wrench is used to fasten the red “wings to grip the disc brake.
A torque wrench is used to turn the disc brake and hub for a better working position. The impact wrench is used to loosen the bolt keeping the disc brake and hub together.
The disc brake will fall down on the drawer underneath. The disc brake can now be extracted easily.

Showering too much
Saving resources
Up to 74 % shower at least six times a week. This is huge waste of resources, both in terms of water, which has environmental consequences, and for your personal economy.
Reducing the number of showers results in savings in terms of water, which causes savings in terms of money. Both benefiting the environment and the private economy.
Hygiene equals bathroom
Portable
Today most hygiene related activities take place in the bathroom. This can create challenges, when the bathroom is occupied or when you are not near a bathroom.
EEWA’s size and materials makes it both portable and durable, allowing you to wash yourself anywhere in the house or on-the-go.
Using too much soap
Benefits the skin
Soaping up daily removes the natural oils and bacteria on the skin. Natural oils and bacteria helps keeping the skin healthy and moisturised and a too frequent removal of these will dry out the skin, increasing the risk of skin infections.
EEWA uses a so-called soapless soap, which is a Syndet that helps preserve the skins natural pH and keeps the skin moisturised.
Sweaty and smelly
Confidence
Arriving at work all sweaty from the bike ride might cause some people to stop taking the bike to work. This can lead them to take the car or public transportation emitting more CO2 and thereby becoming less environmentally friendly.
EEWA does not just kill the bacteria causing unpleasant body odour as deodorants do, it wipes off both bacteria and sweat liquids, leaving the skin clean and without a sticky feeling. This leaves you with the confidence to conquer the day ahead.
